Hestra Falt Guide Glove is my go to, unless its really cold then I go for the big Mitts. They are goat leather with a removeable wool insert so they can be quickly and easily dried.
I view gloves like the wear parts on a machine. If you are utilizing them frequently (for work or related to your local weather), they are going to wear out faster than any other item of clothing. I love wool too but I’ve since switched from buying my fav glove at $150 and hoping it lasts x amount of winter months to just buying a new $20-45 midline pair every year and not being afraid to work them too hard. I do own an expensive pair of mitts I’m hoping lasts a little longer than usual for big cold weather concerns but I use them less frequently than my day to day pair depending on my outdoor activity or weather of the day.
Filson gloves are an absolute rip off. They’re made by Geier glove. Other companies like Fairibault Woolen mills and danner rebrand them. They’re identical. I’ve taken filson gloves to faribault and compared them. Geier let’s these bigger companies rebrand them as far as I can tell. So that being said you can find Geier branded ones for wayyy less. The deerskin version in your video are made by Geier and a little more durable from my experience. Thanks for the content. May have to give the calfskin gloves a try.
Kinco deer leather gloves they sell as ski gloves or the lighter kinco ski glove that’s all leather. Cheaper, super durable. Only downside is they are synthetic lined. Their heavy ski gloves suck for dexterity, but are indestructible. I use mine as oven mitts, manually adjusting wood on my stove, and they aren’t phased. Lots of Obenaufs keeps them gtg.
Good Review! - From my experience,... cow hide is the strongest but its usually thick so you might lose some dexterity. Goat skin is soft but doesn't hold up as good as cow hide. Deer hide, is thin & soft like goat hide is,...but it's usually tougher than goat skin. Almost as tough as cow hide. I love my Deer skin gloves. and Thanx for reading ,...my F##king comment. LOL
