Additionally I Think this movie is the Debut movie for both Amala paul and Harish Kalyan. But they never admitted it openly in interviews and claimed their second movies as their Debut 😂. Still this movie is trolled and used as a meme here in Tamil Nadu.
Actually i feel the scenes of 'Kya yehi pyar hain' movie were required for the message the movie carried. The movie was about an immature youngster who get so lost in love over a girl and ends doing ridiculous stuffs. At the end he realises and regrets the time and the academic opportunities he wasted on the girl who never reciprocated his emotions. It ends with him deciding to forget the girl and focus on his career. The movie was actually mocking the youth who gets blinded with love and loses track of their life..
The problem with the film however is that it addresses the character arc ONLY in its climax. It's not a gradual understanding of his actions. Its ONE death that makes him introspect & CHANGE. The worst case is also is that Ameesha is manipulated into believing that this love is what she has been seeking for all her life vs genuinely loving him back. Almost pushing her into a corner to BELIVE she's in love too I understand what it was going for, however its treatment is far from convincing! Love Today actually dealt with it far better!
Very nicely put. It was one of my fav movies of that time. Ending was very different for that period. I was probably in 6th or 7th class when the movie released.
Absolutely. That was the main motive of that movie. If you see in the climax their is one advice also given at the end that how we should Focus on our career.

Btw, I just saw Awara (1951) in a theatre and what a masterpiece it was. But I noted it had a scene where Nargis teased Raj by calling him 'Jungly ' and in response to that Raj slapped hard and Nargis just fell to the ground at his knees... Makes me think even great movies had these scenes, which shaped the future filmmakers !
Those were different times. Gender politics was different then. Awara is a masterpiece, and Raj Kapoor is a genius... years later, he made movies like Prem Rog and Satyam Shivam Sundaram that talked about women empowerment and their independent identity.
@TriedRefusedProductions He did not do that in the name of 'love'. Being called jungly and vagabond was a trigger for him if you have even seen that movie. Anyways, it is definitely a problematic scene by today's standards.. but the film will always be a masterpiece and Raj Kapoor sahab will always be a maverick.
