Yes! Every professional should have a plastic camera like Holga or Diana F+. I have an extensive collection of plastic Holga's and Lomography cameras. They help me escape technology, and I don't feel guilty if they get dirty or beat up a little. I have 110, 120, and 35mm Holga cameras. I can take them on trips and not worry about losing or damaging expensive cameras.
CORRECTION: The frame size is 6x6 cm or 6x4.5 (centimeters), not mm (millimeters). I misspoke in the video. Sorry about that.
Love this! Yes this is exactly what I'm looking for lol something I can chuck into my purse and take with me on walks and adventures with my toddler and my dogs and take fun pictures. Something I won't be out too much on if he plays with it with grubby fingers😂 haha my toddler actually got me into film. I showed him the instant camera(Polaroid snap) I got years ago on clearance and he liked playing with it together and watching the photos pop out so much that I had to buy new film. Then I remembered how much I loooooved 35mm film as a kid. So I started looking at the 35, 110, 120, all the film options haha I loved my mom would buy us each a couple disposables for trips and we'd take tons of pictures. What a pleasant memory ❤️ so excited to share something from my childhood with my son.
I just finished (I think) shooting my first roll of film in my Holga 120N. It's just a fun camera to shoot because you really don't have to think and fuss with the technical details but just focus on composition. And you can get some wonderful photos from it.
Holga is what got me started with vintage lenses. I was shooting some personal project stuff with a dSLR and became very disenchanted with the look I getting with modern equipment. So, I bought a Holga lens with a Canon EF mount and tried that but that Holga lens on my Canon 5D1 made it very difficult to see almost anything through the viewfinder. I then started researching classic/vintage/legacy lenses. I was looking for glass that would give me the 'looks' I was looking for. Okay, a lot of lenses later and now much poorer, I can create all kinds of different 'looks' depending on what lens I mount on my cameras which, these days, is usually a Sony A7II because mirrorless cameras are so much easier to adapt various lens mounts to, plus they're WAY easier to focus. (My vintage lenses all being manual focus lenses.)
I’ve just gotten into trying that with my Sony. Bought a Minolta adapter for it and am trying out my current and soon to come Minolta lenses with it. Thanks for your comments, Jimmy. 🙏🏽
I have two that are well over 10 years old. I kid you not, when you mentioned how the shutter no longer worked I checked my first and main Holga and the shutter was getting stuck. I just happen to have a tinny oil bottle with needle that I recently picked up to fix a shutter problem with a Canon AE-1 I have and added a little bit to the Holga's shutter mechanics and behold the shutter is smooth once again.
Also I don't think the aperture actually changes. Set you shutter to B, open the back, hold open the shutter, and move the switch. You will see it actually does not change the aperture. There was a guy online that used to customize Holgas and would actually make a modification to give you two apertures.
Yes, I think that's because they put the bigger hole behind the smaller hole. Hilarious! My recently purchased 120 GCFN works properly, though.
And that was Holgamods. Had him do my first Holga.
EV, you are a "kid at heart, cool toy! The image at 10:16 is my favorite.
Rick Mentore Thanks! That’s one of my favorites, too!
Great video as usual. Reminds me I gotta get out there and shoot my yaschica mat 124
Oh, I would love to try one of those for a weekend!
Looks like fun.
I dont mean to be critical but with the cost of film, I think i'll stick to real film Cameras...
If it only had dual card slots, it would be a pro camera in many YT-ers opinion hehehehe
Ed, always down to earth, you gotta love this guy !!!
Thanks for sharing.
😂 Right?!
Love this
From the thumbnail. I for real thought Robert Rodriguez was a holga user. Hell I am still not sure.
Please guide me where can I get one of these.
It's not the camera, it's the pictures that get expensive. About 2 EUR for one single image is quite a lot of money.
if you do not like flogg it on epay, some sill person will pay more than you paid for it if you spay it pink .. jeff
Wh on earth would you waste good film shooting with a piece of crap like this. Sorry I just don't get it the whole camera is just junk !!!!
because using higher end equipment doesn't mean better pictures
Because they're fun and I don't hate fun.
