For anyone having trouble with the “ungrouping/breaking into individual letters” step in the latest version of Inkscape, go to Path and select “Split Path” from the dropdown menu after the “object to path step” instead of clicking on ungroup.
For all who are having trouble with Blur tool clipping the "shadow", try these steps it worked for me. Some steps might be redundant( newbie user) 1. Select Black text 2. Filters-->Filter Editor 3. Add Effect--> Gaussian Blur ( then check mark the filter0 box), then go to Filter General Setting Tab 4. Co-ordinates : -1 ,-1. Dimension: 3,3 ( might be different based on how long your text is, play with it and bring the text in center of box ) 5. Select everything: Path --> Union 6. Object to Path 7. Ungroup You should be good. Let me know if you try this and it works. Cheers
It works everything until Path --> Option, when i do it i obtain the 'Inkscape' written full black. I tried different solutions but i didn't succeed! any suggestion?

For some reason i can't figure out, but when i do the blur even at a 1 my shadow under the letters is cut off on the right side of the letter. It is almost like it was boxed out of the image. I have the letters spaced out far enough. It seems to be happening after i group the whole text. It is fine before that.

I had the same problem as well. If you select the drop shadow object and then click on the "Filter" drop-down menu and select "Filter Editor" it will bring up a dialog box. About 3/4 of the way down the dialog box there is a tab that says "Filter General Settings" when you click on it it will allow you to define a larger bounding box which will prevent your shadow from getting clipped.

How to install .otf on linux (Debian). Coming up short on finding how to install it. Placed it in proper Dir, but Inkscape not seeing it.
Inkscape installed on Windows 10, and it didn't see the fonts either. I fixed it by right-clicking on .otf and then - install for all users.
Hello Nick, thanks for the tut. Could you please make a video on making a print ready flyer? The design could be easy to do, but, arranging for print ready setting without being too familiar with printer and trying to freelance is a bit confusing to take up a bid. So, hoping you'll make one someday.
what operative system do you have, and what is the theme that you have?

i know this sounds kinda dumb, but every time i try to select that Text, it just creates a new line on top of it
Hey, Nick. I've just recently reinstalled the Inskcape Dark Theme along with your custom icons for it. What happens is that I'm not really up to date with Inkscape updates (haha, get it?) and there's one icon that didn't load in my install (it seems to be missing): the meshes tool. I'm not really familiar with Inkscape or anything, but I thought it might be some new tool. Can you give a little help with this icon problem?
I'm using Inskcape 0.92 in Win7.
(sorry for bad english maybe)
esta genial el tutorial :), te quedo muy bien el texto. gracias
Hello sir, I downloaded the font by the given link but can't add to Inkscape.
Can you tell me how to add it to Inkscape??
Sounds like they need to be installed for all users. See this tutorial: logosbynick.com/inkscape-fonts-are-missing/
This is awesome! Thanks for showing this.
The font your using isnt the same one at the site, the one they have is sansita, not sansita one.
I followed your instructions but I can't find the sansita font even though its downloaded
You have to open the file and click install for each file(it is on the top left corner)
In Windows explorer, *right*click the font file; then select 'Install for all users'.
Nick I really got lost in this one but it is a great video
Actually, my drop shadow is being cut off by Inkscape, meaning that all the drop shadow letters are put into boxes by Inkscape, but the "boxes" are too small, so they are cut off. Does anyone know how to fix this?

This is how it works, if anyone has the same kind of problem!
How do I download Inkscape using Mac? I can't find the app in the Apple Store either. Thank you!
This is a free software but not available in Apple Store. You can get the .dmg file from inkscape.org/download/mac-os/
I need to do one simple thing in either inkscape, GIMP, Krita , SatanicArt, something, One simple thing. And I have done it in Power Point and Microsoft Publisher, but the rub is I cant make the artwork the correct DPI or PPI and resolution to make a book cover for creat space. I am going crazy. All of these other art programs are so complicated I cant follow them yet. I just want a simple colored back ground and some text and may one small graphic. Thats all nothing complicated and I am losing sleep over this. Why is it so hard to do something so simple in any of these fancy pants art programs. - Barb
Happy to know that someone also uses linux.
Thanks for the tutorial. Nick. apreciate it ^^
Whenever I try to space the letters on Mac using the ''Up Arrow'' The letters stay stationary and don't even budge ... any help ?

Any specific reason why you still use version 0.48 ?
Maybe because of the bug Lohroc mentions below?
