OMG! I seen a Rusty Kuntz LMAO 😂 too cool lol
Rusty Kuntz was pulled
Definitely a steal for $3 no matter what's in them. Nice find!
Never heard of a gum band before, where I’m from we call them rubber bands 🤷♂️
No. They are known as gum bands in the classiest parts of Paris. The Paris of Appalachia that is.
Yup, rubber bands for me too…
Same. I came straight to the comments to see if I was crazy lol. Google says it’s regional to the Pittsburgh area… makes sense
Zinz just don't know
I know a guy from Pittsburgh who was homeless living under a bridge and got kicked out for being too homeless... Zinz Pittsburghians are priceless
The list on the back is what's *NOT* in those packs! 😂
Its a neat product, but whenever a company is aware of all of the amazing cards you might find they have almost certainly removed them from the packs.
you just made me think about the topps vending boxes. I have some still around the house but for '93 basketball, they do have the good stuff in there cause one search it had every Jordan single. but I suppose now that people found out these are now on the aftermarket for like a tremendous markup. the '87 topps baseball to what I believe are still rock bottom in demand. I thought those and the wooden bat design were pretty snazzy looking in 1990 and topps made it's own monthly magazine featuring them that made them even more sexy in my eyes when I was beginning the hobby.
Not bad for $20. Definitely worth the nostalgia… but definitely some guy unloading all his commons 😆
The best card passed over - @ 5:48 Cesar Cedeno was one of the great players in the early 70's- Gold Gloves in CF, 50+ SB, 25 Hrs, .320 BA and then he wasn't. He was Willie Mays and Roberto Clemente. Hurt his knee, convicted of Manslaughter in the DR, drank too much, more injuries, bad temper, bad choices. Still put up 2000 hits and 550 SBs but he could have been an all-timer.
That's funny. While watching "Bad News Bears Breaking Training" (1978) just last night on MLB Network, Cedeño had a cameo in it when the Bears go to the championship at the Astrodome. One of the kids mentions his name. He's walks in the dugout with his other Astros teammates, including Bob Watson. Even has an IMDB page. Pretty cool.
@@SueKastle77 Wow- that's cool. Let Them Play. Let Them Play. :)
My mom bought me a pack of those from a Hills Department store back in 1986. I only remember two cards: a 1976 Topps Traded of Doc Ellis and an Oscar Gamble of the same.
I love the old jim Gantner who lives about 5 minutes from me in Hartland Wisconsin. He lives down the street from my great aunt. My dad and uncle had a pier business and we used to put his pier in and out of the lake every year. We got tickets to a game and we would go down to the dugout and he would come over and say hello and sign a ball for each of us. People were jealous cause aftet signing the balls he went back into thw dugout. A friend of mine is is Jeff McNiels uncle. I used to see old scrapiron in Oconomowoc Wisconsin at a stone creek coffee shop. And you knew it was him also by the motorcycle he rode was named old Scrap iron
They put a checklist of cards you will definitely not get on the back of the package
Really cool find! Good set building material, and those super miscut cards are wild, I've never seen miscuts that bad! 😮
You should give those miscut cards to your brother. He likes cards like that.
Thank you for slowing down and enjoying the product with reading and educating us with the inserts paper. I enjoy the history aspect pretty cool.
The 1986 version of 3 Bros
Always fun to look back! Thanks Jabs, always appreciate the fun content! 🙏
That is 3 Dale Murphy cards. You went right by the first one and said oh there wasn't any Dale Murphy cards. Oh this sure brought back a ton of memories! I remember how expensive the packs were back then and I had to SAVE just to get a pack. Now the packs are $$$$$$$ I have to sell my liver for one pack.
I bought some similar packs in 87 that had 40 cards for $1.79. Found a 65 in one once.
Enjoy the videos Jabs. Props for your Western Pa/Pittsburghese coming through with the good ole "gum band" drop.
If these were packed in 1986, the hobby had started to explode then, so I am sure whoever put them together didn't include any of the cards they listed in hopes that having them on the back would drive up the sales.
I've found them with hockey cards too
Wow, could they have thrown in a star or RC?
hey Jabs Family! WSP!
Jerry Don Gleaton is from my hometown of Brownwood Texas super small town hero!!
My wife’s uncle was an attorney in Brownwood for years. District Attorney for a time too. Also a scandal ridden man as well. You might know of him as he passed only a few years ago.
In Minneapolis we call them Rubber Binders
did you find the Ryan? I remember finding just junk when I bought these, the 1988 and 1989 bubble top resales. the best card would be the one on the top so I thought having '89 mattingly, strawberry, gooden and Canseco, that my life was complete to that point but had to suffer buying these so I'd know I'd at least have the card. 🤣
I think the insert ads (or as your brother says, "propaganda",) might be worth more than the cards.
Value of 52 Mickey mantle valued at 2500 😂
That was fun though. Memory lane
Promising...
How did the rubber band not crack and dry up over that amount of time.
While it was nice to see the older cards overall it was mainly junk. I'm sure it will sell for set builders though
Good old Rusty Kuntz 😂😂😂
Wasnt 30 bucks for 86 dunruss a steal at the time?
no great pulls but still like the video and your commentary
MJ holdings of the 80s
You skipped over Rusty Kunitz?
Seeing the mickey mamtle for 2500 is mond blowing
Yeah and 52 at that lol. Have a blessed one.
@@chrisraumpz I think it said Ted Williams, $150. Wow.
You skipped a Fisk HOFer
Didn’t Rick Monday snatch the flag at Wrigley Field?
It was at Dodger Stadium but he was playing for the Cubs at the time, so maybe that's why you thought it was at Wrigley.
Gum bands, wtf? 😂
But he does all it rubber bands later
Very inexpensive way to look for a diamond 💎 in the rough..
Missed that Reggie Jackson in that very last stack. Kinda cool that you found these but just goes to show that repacks have always been overall a meh product
Rubber band?
Those cards really sucked!
You have such a cool voice.
Repacks are still repacks, no matter what year they are from!
