Impressed to see tidying up still happening even given the late finish - very professional :)
The Beeb! That's exciting. Good luck!
Great work and professional finish as always.
Hi Nick very tidy job even though it's not seen when plastered. Have you mentioned to the spreaders that your using 35mm boxes flush on the wall. The spreaders might only dab to 20mm to save adhesive. It happened on a site I was involved with ended up with spreaders walking of the job as they only priced fo a 20mm wall adhesive to bond the boards to.
Lazy sparkies eh
Hahaha loved the eyebrow plug 😀 big up Adam, and his eyebrows
ITS customer service is amazing and lovely video
Nice job lads, love your vids. 👍
Enjoy watching these videos, being an apprentice was the best time for me the moment I qualified I realised the money isn't as good as I thought it would be and doesn't warrant the stress and hard work
Still in the trade? Hope whatever you did it’s better for you and your family.
Good catch Adam, I was going to say 2.5 is a bit excessive for a smoke alarm circuit! Aico detectors are a bit full already when they have 2x1mm 3 cores terminated in there lol
Great video, looking forward to part 2 hopefully.😁
Excellent work and thanks for sharing this with us take care
A few months ago i said youd be on tv , with your own tv programe, and it seems as if youve had an approach from BBC,look forward to seeing you on main stream tv, both of you deserve it.
Nice to see you back in the kitchen Nick! Oh dear on dear. Awesome video. Seeing Ad reminds me of an apprentice I had that could run rings around me ( pun intended). I had to retire due to medical issues. He ended up being sacked as he was busted dealing cocaine! Sacking was kinda automatic as he went to prison. So lesson of the day Adam Dunlop - stay with the Coca Cola! Cheers
Would like to see how you approach marking out the ceiling lighting scheme and the wire runs for the grid.
If they are 35mm boxes, how are the plasterers going to build up flush to that depth?
I do enjoy your content and your very nice to the apprentice....i don't get your kitchen install though! Are there no fixed appliances being fitted,?? I see low level double sockets in the kitchen area, but the only feed in and out cables I see are for the extraction! How do you supply and isolate the fixed appliances??
I nearly had a 3 way yesterday in the bedroom, decided a 2 way 2 pole with a dimmer would work better 🤣
🤨
For more intimate dining.
I hope you had adequate protection.
@@bobo-pg7jt certainly did , I locked the front door.
Good days Graft boys difficult whilst the ceiling is still up well done boyz
Looking good, is it worth me running 1st fix while the house is bare and then getting it checked by a qualified electrician and get second fix done by them, or do you think I won't save much? You can see my build progress and I'm now at the stage where I need to start my 1st fix.
Hi , just wondering how do you deal with 70mm insulation boards do you use capping or plastic conduit for the drops for skts and switches or just cut the board ? Many thanks in advance
Quick question for you. Did you put plugs in the wall for screening in the capping or are they screwed into the block
Hi Nick and Adam. Good job both! Very tidy. According to the video Adam worked almost non-stop while Nick did video. Nick, you should have Adam do some video of you working and insert it. Just a thought. LOL
Very tidy job. I would have chased those 35mm boxes in 10mm, the plasterers will complain. Also, I would have been tempted to run a 4mm radial.
Do you use a grid switch to isolate the sockets behind the kitchen appliances?
The merch looks good
So bro I’m new to this and have just had my first call out job for new sockets and lighting for a new extension adjacent to the existing consumer unit. Is that conduit you used on the outside to connect the sockets? Is the ruling different if you are putting plaster board on top ?
Do you not put an isolator for sockets behind tvs up high?
I always put my boxes next to eachother without a gap I think it looks better also I know it's within the regs but I don't like cables running horizontal
12:00 you got 150mm from a finished corner is the the zone so when its boarded and skimmed youre well in
Great work as always.. not a massive fan of oval conduit not gonna lie, much prefer metal capping. But each to there own 👍🏻
Good work
why bring 2 drops down to a socket box , 1 piece of 25mm oval is good enough
Nice to see you back bro keep up the good work
Love watching ya'll work! The ring circuits fascinate me as we don't use them in the U.S. Everything we do here is what you call a radial. Really enjoy watching the content. Always interesting to see differences in the way we do things! Y'all do really professional work!
They do Charley.
electrics have to be safer in the usa to offset the danger of getting shot when you're in school
@@cliveramsbotty6077 bringing up school shootings when talking about electrics is the most pathetic thing ever
@@cliveramsbotty6077 That is just petty and lame
Well, that was random and uncalled for
Adam, I think you need to have a quiet word with your apprentice Bundy he's not doing any work and just spending all day talking to himself
LOL
If you don’t chase the metal boxes, how thick does the plaster need to be?
I thought for a flush look, if you used 12.5mm plaster boards and skim of about 2-3mm. That’s say 15mm. You would need to chase about 10mm.
I will be surprised if the thickness of bonding and top coat will be thick enough to be level with your boxes ,learnt my lesson once where I screwed the boxes straight on to the wall without chopping them out a bit ,or was I working with one of those don't give a toss plasterer, good vid tell Adam he will get a Mackie D belly 👍
probably dot n dab
@@MrOperation0 Looks like 35mm boxes to me-cant see them dabbing that far out!
@@MrOperation0 did wonder 👍
First thing I thought, plasterer will love that, it's normally 12.5mm dab and 12.5mm board.
Personally I always sink 35mm boxes in
I fit the boxes after dot and dab, no chance of boxes being proud and I can get them totally flush with the board and with no crappy gaps around the box coz the dabbers can’t cut a tight fit.
Great video guys! As a massive spark watcher, something just occurred to me. If you are doing back boxes on an internal breeze wall, with plasterboard either dot and dabbed or battened, do you need to use galv boxes still? Or is dry line allowed 🤔
Just a ? Nick I thought you couldn't go across that low with your cables box to box it have to be at a height before you can go across so I've been told can you correct me on this 😉
Love the comments about the depth of boxes... sparks should use 35mm as standard now as more often than not the client or builder will say later that they want flat plate or usb sockets....same for light switch so customer can use dimming....come on people....two minute conversation will tell you the finished thickness
great video
Noticed that one part of your ring was not in the zone, you don't go vertical in-between sockets because somebody could easily drill through the cables because they would expect the cables to run vertically directly above the socket
Hell yeah I want one of those t-shirts.........take my money
Love to watch ya'll work. Everything is so different from the U.S. A ring circuit here would get an electrician fired. An electrical inspector would loos his mind and red tag the project! Everything we do here is what you would call a radial. Not being critical at all. I find it all fascinating.
What trousers are they ?
Nick where did you get them little fibreglass steps can't find any anywhere.
Cheers Stuart!

For the nail room, you didn't mention about and mechanical ventilation as these places need it due to the chemicals
Great job guys 😎
Brilliant
would love a T shirt - size small .... and happy to promote you too!
You could have gone up in that corner using the 150mm from the corner zone. Always forget about that 😀
I don’t really like using that often tho, unless there is a socket very close like your case 👌🏼
I hope the y plan wiring goes back ok on heating 😅
You are a professional electrician. By the way, I am also a Maintenance electrician.
Really like the T-shirt
What size t-shirt is the one you're wearing? Looks like a good fit and I would definitely wear that.
Large I believe
I prefer long T-shirts also. SO hard to find long ones.
Wow. The ring circuits seem risky to me. Wouldn’t it be easier to run heavier gauge copper? Just curious. I’ve only worked with North America and Germany wiring. I can see advantage and disadvantage to different systems. North America wiring requires an excess amount of copper, but really like the German 3-phase. I wired a plug today, 125v 20a. Requires 12ga copper, I think it’s about 2.1 mil?
Yeah, in a residence in the US our general lighting circuits are 15 or 20.amp. 14 AWG for 15amp and 12AWG for 20 amp. Because of our lower voltage (120 volt ) we seem to have a lot more general purpose circuits per residence.
You wear same t's as me so 100% buying some. You doing various colours or...?
Good bro
I think the corners of rooms are safe zones ?
quick question: how many sockets (maximum) can you have in a bedroom ring?
Unlimited amount of 13amp sockets as long as the floor area doesn't exceed 100M²
@@Jay369 thank you for quick answer
@@LawrenceSingha yeah buddy the other guy should probably have mentioned that it's unlimited sockets within 100 MTRS for the whole ring...take into account the distance of the supply legs from the consumer unit....if your breaking into an existing ring to add a few sockets, you should be fine along as you know it's definitely still a ring main.....you won't know that unless you can carry out the r 1, r n, and r2 continuity tests
@@TopShelfSpurs that’s very useful, thank you so much answer back.. will do as so.
Would love to buy a t shirt will be watching out for them 👍🏻👍🏻⚡️⚡️
Yeah mate i would get some clobber and love longer tops
Didn’t think you could run cables horizontally in case any one drills into them?
It’s fine as long as it from an outlet point and it’s level with the point so you can tell it’s in a zone
Hi nick been out of college for about half a year now I have my level 2 and 3 electrical installation c&g I have about a month experience in domestic full new retires but the guy I was working with can no longer take me on I want to get my nvq and have a similar role to ur apprentice do u or anyone in the comments have any tips on where to find people that need apprentices or company’s I can get in touch with to get back into work I would appreciate it
look up Mark Allison on here. He arranges apprentice placements thru apprentice121
What would the best way to approach an electrician about asking whether I can mate with him/work experience
Mate with him haha. Choose your words carefully. Be prepared to work for free for a little while. Good luck
Is that the kitchen in Adams new house after he had a teenage party,
I’d like a few of the large tshirts
I’d be interested in a t-shirt or 2 bud. I’m 6’5 so long T-shirt’s would be ideal for work
Great video guys love the t-shirts would wear one should have one that says you good job
9 sockets? I installed 7 side by side. Got tired of lead plugged to a lead and tangled mess. Now everything has its own socket.
Yeah nick. Not a 2.5mm for smokes. Listen to Adam 🤣
9 double sockets in one room at least theres been thought for expansion
great work Adam and Nick( if you did any other than point the phone up and down telling every one what you where doing , haha only kidding Nick ) . yes i will buy one other tshirts
Put me down for a t shirt (small) 😅 longline 👌
Would love to buy an xl t shirt please Nick.
Dibs on a large t shirt please
👍🏻
Greetings from 🇪🇪🤪
Excuse my language skills..
All I want to say that if in one day I do not start working as electrician mate in UK, and keep doing this job and growth my skills up, I will never be satisfied, this process being electrician.
I mean UK electrical industry is far away then some European countries.. you have good supply of everything, technical side for example.
everything is growing and helping doing job better, as you showing us in your videos!
Big like and respect! 😎👍
You need to recess those 35mm boxes otherwise the plasterer will push his boards tight to the wall and leave the boxes protruding. I no longer work for builders they are intolerable and not proper tradesmen mostly.
I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiment. Boarding over pipes and cables etc before you've finished and not even considering a quick call just to check where you're up to. Cnuts.
ITS painting and decorating equipment is naff other stuff may be OK but P&D nope.
I just realised that Tom backwards is Mot.
I’m not even a sparky and I watch your videos 😂😂😂
Why use metal clips above a plasterboard ceiling bud?
Why not?
@@stupot_64 because there's no need
@@stupot_64 I also like to incorrectly and arbitrarily apply regulations.
@@TheFool2cool Regulations are the minimum requirements. There's no reg to say you cannot use metal clips.
Just like if I want to install fire rated downlights where they aren't specifically required (so that the lights all round the property are the same) there's no reason I can't.
Who invented rods.... Clearly never thought about regs... Jeesh real world here. We definitely need self clipping cables that adhere to every reg dreamed up that clearly means in a commercial non domestic situation. Remember we must have a fan isolator in a bathroom just in case that fan starts up and might chop off our hands.. Bollox
I want to electrition helper job
Previous comment was deleted because. I didn't know about that TV was being moved.
Joking aside... so true about Jordan... Mr Money eh?😉😉😉... Great video, nice to see you back on the tools (or at least Adam 😆) at last. TBH I think you've done EICRs to death ... 🤔. And good luck with the merch. 👍
14 hours in your work clothes ??/ all the more reason for Adam to take his shirt off !!!!!!!!!!! 😊
