USB type A is Flat USB that is used for phone charging USB B is the female of USB A that you get on printers and other devices USB C is the oval new USB connection
USB-A (the type on those sockets) was originally intended to be the host side of the usb connection e.g. a computer. This would be the side which provided power on the connection. Type b would then be your device. E.g. printers, scanners, cameras and phones etc. Type-b has multiple formats e.g. The original type-b you find on printers and then mini and micro-b which you might find on phones or cameras. Type c is a much more modern connection type and can have the same connection on both the host and device side
Nice job. Client can feel safe in the knowledge that it’s been done well. Might have missed it, but did you need to pull in a new supply for the hob? If yes, could you have pulled 2 new legs of the ring as well? How did it go with the flex of the hob vs open draw below? I’ve been loving a bit of flexi copex for cupboard wiring on the slightly more budget kitchens that are going in on my current job, and deep patrice boxes too - hate cramped/squashed cables in boxes. Cheers, enjoyed.
That cabinet in the loft was also one of my jobs Christoff! Wouldn't want to make it easy for you would I. Thanks for clearing the cupboard out, where's the finished article at with the badass hob install?
Your trim plate screws should've been vertical, mate 🫨 Well that's how we do across the pond, at least in my area. I'm told they catch less dust & grime if vertical.
We normally use a hard plastic screwdriver tipped head to tighten fixing screws for the chrome plated sockets and switches, can't remember where we picked up the screwdriver's... Great video guys and have a happy Xmas...
Ive been a spark for 24 years mainly commercial, but just really enjoyed that video mate. Nice kitchen install 👍👍👍 Im off to finish a kitchen off myself tomorrow for a Customer then i can relax for xmas 😀
"Kitchen trim-out" is what we'd call it. Construction or remodel phase we call rough-in. So interesting to see all the similarities and differences of North America vs the UK in residential work
Great tip with the masking tape and great job the only thing down points is kitchen company’s all ways issue cool white tape when it needs to match warm white lights that are are already in the kitchen Nice job but 👍
Nice job lads - Chris on the white twin socket that you will be changing ( fridge freezer) what is holding in the metal back box to the cupboard - do you make your own holes in the edge of the box and screw into the cabinet. ???
@@kobirelf97 Well seems very odd. Double sockets are connected to each other and the in/out RFC via metal strappers, Chris has just made a double socket with a T&E flex 'strapper'. They are electrically identical, but seems like more points of potential failure. Probably didn't have the parts on the van ;-) - or hadn't known at the wholesalers quite where the appliances were going.
@@schmuuth_dot_com3202 I think it's very unlikely he didn't have a double socket on the van. Double sockets are said to be rated at less than 26A (in theory they could be asked to carry 26A) whereas each single is rated at 13A. He says doubles burn out in kitchens. Personally I'd put the oven on its own radial (possibly with hob as oven is fused in the plug).
Why doesn’t James find something to do during the intro. Instead of mooching about hands in pockets. You’re too soft these days, Mc Donald’s cos it’s Friday…………. Pah !
Quick scratch free tip.. piece of masking tap over screw holes, screws in then peel away and wipe after tightening..
Great vid as always
Little tip Chris have the drill in forward not reverse and it will smash through those back cupboards lol, great vid guys keep it up
And a Bosch speed spade bit rather than a holesaw
@@Hammy135 Spade bits will chip the finish around the holes so not a good idea. Spades are best for rough work only.
@@mxslick50 makes no difference if it chips it’s being covered by a pattress
Nice video. Merry Christmas to you Chris and James
Great vid Chris. Love your work and now your shorts. All the best for the new year from Gibraltar.
Surely those are USB-A's? USB-B are for printers and whatnot
What does it mean?
Yes there USB-A, USB-B is for printers, and then the micro-b is what you used to get on phones
@@MatthewBurnett1 how bizarre, wonder what the difference is

USB B is the female of USB A that you get on printers and other devices

thought you were going to use short screws , boxes to cupboard backs...
its called USB A is what its called

Great vid of second fix, really nice kitchen as well.
Y did you use 2 single sockets a twin would be quicker to fit?

nice job , I think conduit back of freezer would look nicer than cables ties and sticky backs
excellent video mate cheers. I wish you showed us how you did pump fixing for big lights ! thanks anyways
A standard USB socket is USB-A.

whats the size of twin and earth cable you used for the the kitchen ring ciricuit?
Nice job lads, keep up the great work 👍
spurs not needed anymore for appliances? :O
Don’t think I like bright chrome - to be honest. Very bling and rather chav. That Matt, anthracite looking finish is rather good.

How come you don’t strip the outer sheeting of the cables before pulling them in the back boxes

I was also wondering how it is held in place, I was expecting a drywall back box?
The back box has holes already in the side for fixing like that.

Whats with the set back cupboard on the island side of kitchen cabinets?
Still using the word _plugtop._ My oh my!
A very tidy job as always and exactly the attention to detail you want, especially on a kitchen job. Well done lads and merry Christmas
James seems like he doesn’t have a clue what he’s doing
Freezer may have to stick out? WHAT!!! No, thanks. There is a space at the bottom of all intergrated appliances for cables and pipes. 😮

Great content again , why two single SO when one double would be easier?
Seen so many double sockets burnt out with kitchen appliances
Got to match the led tape temperature up with the rest of the lights
Yeah it looks different but it’s 100% warm white
What a Sunday morning treat🙂
Put electrical tape over your screwdriver 🪛 and your good
Looks like a great kitchen 👍
Lovely job. Great video.
With those 2 sockets in the cupboard Chris, why did you opt for 2 separate single sockets over 1 double socket ?.
Because it's for two different appliances it's quite easy to tell if something goes wrong what socket has the fault
