No. Hasan Minhaj has been the best gift so far. And this is coming from someone who doesn't really like Minhaj and loves Roy Wood's comedy.

I absolutely appreciate your perspective on plant-based nutrition and animal welfare and you seem to have the right heart when it comes to criminal justice reform but I am concerned about your history of education "reform" and voting against efforts that would lower the cost of prescription drugs. It would also be great if you backed Medicare for All.
I'm sure you're aware of the now mayor-elect of Chicago so I am curious if you have a statement regarding his election to the office, especially as a former mayor yourself. I know you weren't one of the endorsements but I imagined you're also happy to see another black man take the office after the tragic early death of Mayor Harold Washington.

Yes to Sen Booker's points on stopping subsidization of highly processed empty calorie foods and instead focusing on healthier whole foods -- I feel the same way about clothing: stop subsidizing the petroleum industry (and thus fast fashion) and instead focus on natural fibers grown locally.
That's a pretty niave thing to say. Nobody grows natural fibers locally on a scale that will dress the world. Polyester rules.
Here here. As a member of a small knitting business this would really help our efforts to be a local farm to fashion franchise.

What the Senator said about subsidizing the right foods could save this country.
Indeed! shift the subsidies from fossil fuels - they have enough funds - please , other democracies know their citizens are who make the nation, health care, parental leave, humane incarceration with nice space and education (thank you Governor Newsom for bringing it stateside). Food is so valuable, keeping health is Vital.
Terms limits is what can save this country he is a career politician.

@@emeraldkaysgarden if you want to talk about the right structural changes, term limits actually wouldn't help. There's no shortage of people ready to line up to have corporate funded campaigns, and then a cushy board job when they are limited out. I'd be more in favor of increasing the number of representatives to a point where only 50,000 people were represented by each. Aside from the obvious benefits of having more representation, it would practically solve the electoral college issues.

Was all this "speed dating" host thing just to prove that Roy was the host that we needed all along? He's the only one to be utterly comfortable pivoting from broad comedy to really clever insightful questions about real progress that can make a difrence in peoples lives.
Roy is awesome. I'm so excited to watch the rest of this week. Informative, confident, funny, he's nailing it.
Roy's talking about 'meeting in the middle' to try to actually get things done. Which is a fantastic thing to be talking about.
The Daily Show needs somebody with wisdom and moderation. I worry that some of the test hosts that got a lot of hype over these past weeks are just over-zealous ideologues that don't help anything and don't have anything thoughtful to say. They'll get regular folks excited to be a part of an echo chamber, but they won't ever challenge those viewers-- or stand up to them. I don't have that fear with Roy. I think he's the right choice for grown ups.

He has the chemistry with the rest of the cast and the natural flow of the daily show going in and out of comedy and the seriousness of politics with a proper splicing of the both that we've come accustomed to over the years. I wish Cory Booker would run for POTUS again and get a better campaign team. He had a lot of competition on his previous run, but i think he will make an excellen POTUS. He has a very interesting public service record. Look him up if you have the time. He's a different kind of leader.
It is frustrating to ask a serious question about police reform and have Mr. Booker completely skirt answering the question. Why ask a question just to give a talking point to politicians. I think there has to be accountability to holding elected officials to answering real questions and pushing past the PR response. The Daily show has always played that 'we are not real media' game, but you get the opportunity/platform, and therefore the responsibility, to questions to influential people that the rest of us do not get. Roy Wood Jr., hands down should be host. No doubt.
Isn't Mitch McConnell being "eerily silent" partly because he is recovering from a concussion? I do not know how, tastefully, to laugh about that and I certainly wish Mitch the best. Still...
I never liked Roy Wood Jr. when he was a correspondent on with Trevor Noah, but on his own and as a host…. He. Just. Rocks!!!! I hope he can be the next host and keep the guests honest to his viewers who are Bipoc, women of color, and other minority communities! Go Roy!!!

He didn't say what the problem was with the bill that he wouldn't sign
The question was: Why can't this be the bill that we all need, that both sides can agree on.
His answer was: "Because a Republican sponsored it"
I've been thinking. You know that djt thought that the Icelandic gov't had the power to actually sell their country too him says a lot about how he saw himself as president of the US. It also shows us why we absolutely can not allow him anywhere near the position of President ever again!
quite the insane dodge on the police reform bill question. Roy asked a very fair and reasonable question, and Sen. Booker just went on about other bills he had worked on with Tim Scott

What Sen Booker says about subsidizing healthy foods is something that I have been saying for ages. I grew up humble, and sometimes breakfast consisted of a can of cola and chips because it was the easiest and cheapest thing to get. If I had healthier options that cost the same, well maybe I would have tried those instead. I hope ideas like this continue to gain traction.
