  • Welcome to Draw Tip Tuesday!
Let's talk about pens. I mean, there's always a good reason to talk about art supplies, right?
I'll be showing you my current favorite pens, which all happen to be fountain pens. And I have a few recommendations for waterproof inks that are suitable for fountain pens.
    Shown in this video:
    Lamy Safari nib B
Sailor fountain pen with fude nib
    Pentel Pocket brush pen
    Platinum Carbon Black Ink
    Rohrer & Klingner Sketch Ink
    DeAtramentis Document Ink

Just a note the ink converters are proprietary, so you need a sailor converter for the sailor and a Lamy converter for the Lamy. Some European pens are “universal”. Most Japanese pens, Pilot, Sailor and Platinum use their own converters. Thanks for the video.( I teach “Sketching with Fountain Pens” classes.)

It was helpful to know the DeAtramentis "document ink" is the waterproof one. I got a document ink and a regular , thinking they were both waterproof. Now I know, thanks so much! I love my fountain pens!

The difference between the 2 Sailor pens is the angle of the nib. The green one has a 55 degree nib and the other, a 40 degree. You can get a thicker line with the 40 degree. I have the green one, and the line is thick enough for me.

The green and navy blue Fude DeMannen pens that are the same model but different color, have different nib angles, that’s true. But this shorter model Sailor 1911 Profit Fude DeMannen in navy blue also has a 55 degree angle.

It's possible to refill the cartridges for the Pentel Brush Pen, using a syringe. I use Platinum Carbon Ink for this. Thanks for these vids Koosje... admire your tenacity in keeping on with them.. Look forward to hearing more about the book. ;-)

Yes, that's absolutely true. I never do it though, because I am too clumsy and will spill it all over myself. Thanks, Stephan!

I use the Lamy with broad nib & Carbon ink, and I love it. The ink is also great with brushes.
Ik kocht dit vorig jaar na jouw video hierover, geweldig advies...dank je Koosje!

Really great you are writing a book. Now I am using a pen which is made of bamboo. It was a part of a chinese calligraphy set. It is totally unpredictable but fun to use with different inks. My favourite inks are Windsor and Newton and kooh i noor (I don't remember exactly the name of the brand). The umbria and sienna colors are pretty beatiful. ☺️

I have a long Sailor fude nib pen, but i believe it is the other angle, as it is a black barrel. I don't use it enough. That is my insecurity with it.
