Great job quite professional pacing is excellent camera angles are excellent I look forward to seeing the automation and remote control so you could turn it on in a remote location.
Thanks for the positive feedback, I appreciate it! Yes, I have since added a B-hyve remote watering valve to the connecting point of this system. I can leave the hose valve on, and control the on off operation from my phone remotely. The one setback to this is if the power to your home is shut off, the B-hyve relies on your home wi-fi to send the signal to the unit. One option would be to connect your home wifi to a battery pack (Goal Zero, etc.) if you have time to do so when you evacuate your home due to fire. Here is the link to the B-hyve (I'm happy with the quality and would recommend this product). orbitonline.com/products/b-hyve-smart-hose-watering-timer
Helping hint soak the inside of your forms with diesel fuel before you put your concrete in. It helps when it comes time to remove the concrete from the forms. Do it on fresh wood and clean well after with water after using them. Then treat again right before your next batch.
It looks like your garages and homes are really close. If the neighbors home or garage are on fire you will want a sprinkler wetting down your exterior walls. It looks like your roof over hang and your gutters are keeping your exterior walls dry.. Great job being prepared way too many homeowners wait until it is too late. 30 year ff here.
QUESTION: Have you thought about if you lose water pressure? My understanding is electricity may be turned off, and/or pump stations lose power during wildfires/whole neighborhood fire-like situations. Alternatively, there was a service who had a pump & gas generator feed a similar sprinkler system from a swimming pool in the backyard.
yes, good point on the water pressure. In our case, our water pressure is provided by gravity...no electricity required! The one concern I have is if the water pressure is low because firefighters are plugged into the hydrants. I think at some point, I'd like this system to be hooked up to an independent water source (large tank), and a gas powered pump to deliver the water to the sprinkler heads. That way I would have a self contained system that I could operate independently.
@@kekanipahugreat job on the system, living in rural Australia we are also very familiar with forest / bush fires. I would suggest that relying on the mains water supply and pressure is a risk, during a fire event the demand on the mains water is significant and you will likely have a large drop in pressure or at times no pressure at all. As you mentioned, an independent water source and gas powered pump is a good next step in improving your setup.
Yes, the angle of the concrete form basically locks it into place...plus the weight of the concrete. Adhesive is not a bad idea, though. Especially in California where earthquakes are common.

That is a good tip. I've seen professional concrete finishers use diesel to help with the concrete sticking on the forms.
This is amazing. I’m really hoping to see this become a big business.
Me too! Seems like a simple solution that would work for many applications.
thank you from Australia
Cheers! Glad to help!
Looks great man and certainly more affordable for the average homeowner than the off the shelf rooftop sprinkler systems
Thanks! Yeah, it is definitely doable for most people. Plus it was fun to make!
Nice! Maui, Lahaina need those sprinklers 🤙🏼
That is true!

Awesome, thanks for the feedback! Always good to get the advice/thoughts from our firefighter friends!

Sprayers under Eve's also
that is just way more difficult than it needs to be 🤦♂
Is there any device can sensor sun heat to make the sprinkler automatically operate when sun heating?
I'm not aware of one, but I'm sure there is something out there that could trigger the valve when the roof temp got to a certain amount.
@@kekanipahu maybe put mirror under sprinkler fire sensor.. sun heat will reflect the light from mirror to the sprinkler sensor
Just seat it on peak without adhesive?

Why not just use pipe stand-off brackets. No need for cement blocks
Yea its a starte but i got terible rasist neibours quite close think yust drill holes in the pipe😊
