The younger Starks look older because they filmed one season per year, so some times they noticeably aged from season to season or even between episodes, even if not that much time had passed in the show. It's not as evident on the older actors, though Jon, Sansa and Robb did look a lot younger in earlier seasons. Arya and Bran legit grew up during the show, since it took like 10 years to film.

Sophie Turner is only a year older than Maisie Williams. So Sansa grew up on set right along with her.

At this moment, Varys and Littlefinger are the two who are really in control of "the game". The 5 Kings don't realize just how much they know and just how much they are pulling the strings. They're the most politically savvy players in the game. Even though they are basically foils or antithetical to each other, they respect each other. But they both have different motives. Just what those motives are remains to be seen.
And yes, House Baelish, though it's not a dominant house, is still a house and he is a lord.

"If you think this has a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention." Delivered like a savage, one of my favorite lines ever. If you've heard it before it's probably because it made its way to pop culture lol. But your whole analysis on that scene and the situation was brilliant, Fam. Not gonna answer any of your questions though lol. Loving your reactions, I never hit play without at least two rolled blunts lol. Quality content, keep em coming.

Keen eye. That is indeed Baelish's sigil on the ship's sail, a mockingbird. I think Cersei talked about it at the start of s2 in that scene where she threatened to have his throat cut.

Your analysis of who Theon thinks this guy is - how would Theon know about the Karstark deaths? the genius of the author is telling each chapter via one character (not all characters have a perspective chapter). no character has an omniscient (godlike) point of view. it's fascinating to watch when some people know nothing about the rest of the surrounding world.

You should go back and listen to the iconic ‘Chaos is a Ladder’ speech by Little Finger. It’s one of the most iconic and popular lines from the show. Still gives me chills.
Little Finger warned Roz at the brothel back in earlier episodes about another girl he did that to because she displeased him. ‘She was a bad investment’ ‘they haunt me’… he tells her how he sold her to someone who ‘used her in ways most men wouldn’t imagine’.
Can’t wait for the rest of the episodes from this season!

Re Thoros of Myr: He was sent to proselitize the religion of R'Hollor (this is the only time you will see R'Hollor mentioned outright in this series) across Westeros. Rhollor is the Red God or the God of Light. as opposed to The Seven which is what a lot of Westeros (christianity like) practices. and of course we have the old gods (more a nature worshipping religion) The Red God is more along the lines of Zoroastrianism which is more dark vs light, a complete dichotomy of good vs evil. There are many other gods worshipped across this world, but these are the ones to remember.

18:30, yes Theon is being held at the dreadfort (The seat of house Bolton) Their house motto is “Our Blades Are Sharp”
They have a lesser know saying “a naked man has few secrets, but a flayed man has none”.
In the histories… The Boltons and Starks were enemies for centuries.

After the Long Night that affected the whole of Westeros and Essos back in the day, the Wall was built by a Stark named Bran the Builder and the Children of the Forest to isolate the Others (White Walkers) to the North Beyond the Wall. (the name Brandon or Bran is the name of many Starks, including Ned's older brother, so luckily most of them have nicknames to tell them apart) It is also said in the legend that the Giants helped with the raising of the Wall. He also built Wintefell and they are both imbued with magic (the Others cannot go South of it and any Dragons that have been brought to the Wall will not cross North of it i.e. Alysanne Targaryen flew Silverwing to the Wall and had a castle built called the Snowgate or Queensgate in her honor for having gotten the land just South of the Wall set aside for farming specifically to provide crops, animals, etc. to the Night's Watch.
Bran the Builder is NOT to be confused with Bran the Breaker. There was a time later that a Night's Watch Lord Commander called the Night's King was over the Night Fort (which was West of Castle Black where Jon and them reside) This man had married one of the Others, sacrificed any of their children they had together to the Others, and had the whole Night's Watch under his bondage. This man had two half brothers (Bran the Breaker - from his mother's side of the family; Joramun, the King Beyond the Wall - from his father's side of the family) who joined together to defeat him and free the Night's Watch from his grasp. The only semblance to this day that has held up from his legacy is the Black Gate from the Nightfort is guarded by a Weirwood tree that will open the gate for any of the Night's Watch who recites their vows in front of it to allow them safe passage through (and maybe the tradition of sacrificing children to the Others, but that might have been a tradition older than the Night's King.)
Nor is he to be confused with Brandon "The Wild Wolf" Stark, who was Ned's older brother that was killed by Aerys Targaryen II or to be confused with the current character of Bran "The Winged Wolf" Stark who is Ned's son.
But yes, the Iron Throne when it was built by Aegon the Conqueror (300 years ago when he took over) was much larger than what they made for the show (you had to climb into the throne over a hill of swords)

The Targaryen dynasty is not that old as we think, it lasted 283 years. The books and the show starts roughly at 298 a.C (after the Conquest). House of The Dragon will take place at 130 a.C.
And yes, the Iron Throne in HoT has more swords, it is a better representation of the throne than GoT, but is still not quite as big, bizarre and dreadful as the books. In the books the throne is ugly and doesn't have a shape, after all, it was a dragon that made it. You literally have to climb it, i'm not taking about 3 steps like the show, i'm talking about a real ladder. If you're curious, you can google images and find how the Iron Throne is in the books. I recommend it just to get a different perspective of the ancient lore.

This first time I went through the series I felt the same way about Varys and Littlefinger's conversations. I thought those were arguably the best part of the show. When I got to season's 6 and 7 looking back, I thought they had like 6 or 7 of these great scenes together. (It was probably the nostalgia of looking back at it all). But when I went back to rewatch the show I was surprised to see there are only 3 such scenes, 2 in Season 1 and this one in Season 3. Chaos is a Ladder has become iconic.

House bolton is absolutely ancient. Their feud with the starks goes back thousands of years, to when the starks were kings of the north.
The show starts in the 298th year since aegons conquest, and ends in the 305th year.
Also house baelish is a thing. Before harrenhal they held pitiful amounts of land and the sigil of house baelish is not the bird. That's little fingers personal arms

  • @chancefurlong372
    @chancefurlong372 2 роки тому +1

Let's deep dive into the Varys Littlefinger scene. I should start by saying that the Iron Throne in the books IS made of thousands of swords and is very high. So Petyr's analogy doesn't apply to the books. But the point of the analogy : exaggerated myths about kings whether Targaryen or Baratheon or Lannister, very much does. So now, what's Varys and Littlefinger really saying in that "A 1000 blades from Aegon's fallen enemies... aren't even 200" scene? They're alluding to popular myths and legends created around kings to legitimize them and the ruling dynasty. It's a political necessity for any monarchy that stops representing the popular will. With repetition, the line between these truths and exaggerations become blurred. Varys wants to uphold these myths cause he fears the anarchy that comes when dynasties crumble. Like when the Targaryens fell. Littlefinger sees opportunity in that anarchy and says "chaos is a ladder". We've heard a lot of legends about the 300 year Targaryen rule of Westeros. But what about King Robert? What myth did his reign create?🤔

Thoros job was to convince Robert Baratheon to worship the lord of light. The show did miss this part bad putting extra Cersei scenes in

I forgot how cool it was that the show gets a 1 on 1 scene between Olenna and Tywin (since in the books neither are point-of-view characters)
