EXO's the 1st kpop group to represent Korea in the Olympics same as CL as the 1st kpop solo artist. Baekhyun was assigned to sing Korea's National Anthem at the OIC Press Conference. Their outfits were originally prepared already for this performance but GUCCI offered their unreleased white suits customized with the color of Korea's flag and that's what they wore. Kai (the one who did the traditional dance solo) filmed a commercial the night before (Levi's commercial) and injured his foot. With this, he performed in the Olympics but amazingly did great. He was named as the "Nation's Secret Weapon" after this solo. The tv rating during EXO's performance increased highly and broke a record. Many media reports were released praising the group and their performance. Even non kpop fans were amazed. With this legendary performance, the Korean government officially recognized and named EXO as the "NATION'S PICK". Korea Mint Corporation also made medals for each member due to their contributions in spreading kpop (1st time ever for a kpop group). EXO's also the Korean Tourism Ambassadors. POWER is the 1st Korean song selected to be played at the largest Fountain show in the World (Dubai Fountain Show). EXO's invited to watch and was welcomed like royals in Dubai. They were also shown in the Burj Khalifa tower screen show which only Royals and important persons were selected.
That was the first time ever a kpop group was showed on my TV and in country news. I remember waiting 2 hours with all of my family. When they finaly performed I couldn't stop crying and shaking. Everyone around me was in shock how amazing they were. Even my friends who watched told me they were outstanding. That pride for EXO was just...I can't even explain in words. After Olympics, korean goverment gave EXO title of "Nation's Pick". I don't care what everyone has to say but EXO are truly the legends for me! Thank you for this reaction 😊

Imagine they just returned to South Korea the day before this performance after their concert tour, and Kai had inflammation with his ankle after filming a CF dancing all night outdoor wearing only jean and long sleeve T shirt under the freezing cold weather. I have watched a backstage fan cam showing that EXO members were wearing very thin Gucci suits, and Kai was wearing that thin light Korean costume while the audiences and staff were wearing thick down jackets because it was below O degrees, they were shivering while waiting for their turn to perform. I saw a staff kept sweeping Kai's shivering arms and shoulders to make him feels better and Chanyeol kept tapping his feet to keep his body warm. My heart ached when I saw this scene. I was very upset when I read comments from those cold-hearted antis critised "their dance were not in sync, their performance was a mess, should have been performed by another group" ! To me, their performance was really great and they received recognition from a lot of non-kpop fans after this performance. I'm so proud of EXO!
