    I'm open to other opinions on this, but I have about 200k miles on my personal 6.7L, and I've never done the EGR cooler clean out. I have cleaned the EGR valve multiple times, but never the cooler. No emissions issues at all with my rig. I do have my company trucks' EGR systems completely serviced, as they do a lot more idling. Maybe I'm just lucky, but I believe it's not necessary for everyone. And yes, I've avoided it on my truck just out of laziness. But again, no emissions issues with me.

      good to know about the EGR cooler.. the egr cooler is so easy to do along with the EGR valve, water pump and engine valves like paul was saying.

    500 miles per quart. 10 quarts in the engine = 5,000 mile oil change

    I'm been subscribed for a while now......This Guy knows Ram trucks......I moved up to semi because I realized what he means about hailing heavy with a dually ram.....at the end of the day it's a pickup truck..........I Appreciate every video made.........I'm very mechanically inclined and if your not.....ram diesel maintenance can compare to semi truck real fast.......once high mileage and I have the 68rfe transmission......Weak transmission when towing heavy.....

    equipment depends on how well you take care of it.. I like doing all the maintenance myself. so older equipment is fine with me.

    I got one for you, my 22 3500 ram blew the factory serpentine tensioner at 29,000 miles and wrecked every idler pulley and broke the fan. All because the plastic pulley on the factory belt tensioner blew apart.

    As somebody who drives a semi.... if you're going to run old equipment, you better enjoy the hands on side of things, or you better have a personal relationship with a solid mechanic. The time and expense of putting a truck in the shop will bankrupt you faster than everything else.
    Of course... I'm driving a full blown semi... but I'd imagine our worlds aren't all that different.

    High miles and that truck still kicks butt.....I never did get to drive one of the duallys ;) proper maintenance and they will last a very long time

    Have you had issues with AC condensation leaking into the cab in the passenger foot well? Mine leaks whenever im on defrost or AC is on and it’s not a clogged drain line, it’s literally the hvac plenum leaking where it’s connected all together where the evap coil is. Coil is also nice and clean. The drain is nice and clean and unobstructed. 112k miles on my 2010 4th gen.

    Thanks Paul. Great video as always. My question is regarding age over miles. I have a '14 3500 SRW HO with only 55,000 miles on it. What should I look for at ten years old? It's a great truck and don't plan to replace it for MANY more years!

    Hi Paul, I currently run Mobil Delvac 75W-90 in my rear axle. What brand of 75W-140 gear oil would you recommend for the rear axle. I have a 2016 Ram 3500 SRW with 48,000 miles that I use almost exclusively to pull a 12,000 pound fifth wheel. Thanks for the great videos.

      Long drives at interstate speeds, drive easy and run an additive to reduce soot. Change your oil more frequently to reduce soot load which is abrasive. And change your air filter. Unburned fuel and oil is what loads up your DPF.
      You could also clean your EGR intake and piping of soot build up.

      Ive heard a lot of guys that run Archoil fuel treatment have very good luck on keeping everything clean. I believe Amsoil and Schaefer’s make good products for this as well.

    How often you change ur fuel filter. Do you change filter by fuel tank more often than the fuel filter under the hood?

    • @pddieselpower
      @pddieselpower  5 місяців тому

      We do every other time we do an oil change under the hood and every time on the rear one. That’s summer.
      Winter time we do fuel filters every time.
