      WILLY LYNCH this happened to my ex husband. He was FINALLY "rescued" from his biological home of an abusive alcoholic father only after he tried killing him.. unfortunately his little sister was rescued first and he didn't even know he had one. They both were immediately placed in a new home. (The daughter of a social worker who worked his case.. so basically the rescuer became his grandma).. turns out that his adoptive parents were addicts and displayed a very unhealthy abusive relationship that he thought was normal. They were almost imeadiately approved because they were rich at the time... He never got saved... His whole like was one huge mess he had no control of. Left for the military at 18 and his mom relapsed again... We didn't work out for lot of these reasons but I wish him the very best and I pray he finds hope... But you're so right. I hope that maybe this can change one day.

      @@tinastanley9993 So is it not public shaming? I'm really confused at what you're trying to say, here.
      I don't see how publicly shaming the innocent child, nor the addicts for that matter, helps with *anything* at all.
      Especially the child who has done nothing wrong, and now will forever be known as the poster child for the opioid crisis.
      And I am sure publicly shaming drug addicts is the way to go in rehabilitating them. Make their lives practically unrecoverable, that'll help.
      You didn't answer me as to why they couldn't just blur it. This *is* public shaming. And I'm not saying that out of sympathy for the addicts, I'm stating a fact.
      Here's another fact: public shaming makes it definitely a lot worse.
      Now what you decide to do with those facts is up to you, but I don't see the point in making these people's lives worse for the sake of nothing. They all need help.

    I grew up with drug addicted parents. I have very, very few memories and those few ones help me maintain my dream to help every single human being. Addiction is far more complicated than what we've been taught for decades.

    • @christyr5080
      @christyr5080 6 років тому +82

      It is complicated. U start taking something because of pain and then, you can't get out of bed without them. I take pills because of severe pain and I don't abuse them. I wish I didn't need them but the truth is, I'm an addict.

    • @marya3168
      @marya3168 6 років тому +18

      you can't get out of bed because of addiction or because of the pain?. If you can't get out of bed because of the pain, and the med's lessen the pain to allow you to move and function that is NOT addiction. If you're taking meds well after the cause of pain is healed and you just want to be able to 'face the day' then yeah, that's a problem. It's a proven medical fact that pain meds used to manage chronic ongoing pain are not addictive, but keep on using them after the pain is gone, yes are addicted because you want the medication not the relief from pain. Britain did this study on Heroin working differently with pain patients in which they were able to function and work normally,,, where those without pain went a whole other direction. many people are going to start suffering and likely suicide rates will increase because everyone's going to fall under the blanket and no longer be able to obtain pain meds they have found relief with for years... Doctors will not be jumping thru the hoops to keep prescribing and many companies are going to stop manufacturing. I wish the education would be on 'you wanna play, then expect to die" and Let them. pain is serious business and has no choice. Taking meds without need it a choice and a price to gamble with.

      @christyr5080 6 років тому +19

      Mary A
      I can't get out of bed because, from where I have been taking pain pills too combat the pain, my brain tells me that my body is hurting so bad the only thing that will help is the pain pills. whoever said that opioids and narcotics word not addictive, had no fucking clue what they were talking about. narcotics and opiates rewire your brain so that you have to have them. they rewire your brain so that your body thinks you have to have them 2 function properly basically. it's all scientifically proven.
      and the people that you were speaking about in this study are what's known as casual users. what myself and every other addict has is an addictive personality. most people actually have one no matter what it is they get addicted to. but just because I'm not passed out from shooting up in the car somewhere, because I don't take them to get high honestly I would love to but I've been taking them for so long I don't know how much shit I would have to have to get high, doesn't mean I'm not an addict. there is a difference. a very big difference but I'm still addicted. I I say back my comment in the beginning where I said I don't use them because I will abuse them. if I take my medication the way I'm supposed to and it does not help and I am still in severe pain I'm going to take some more to get out of it.

    • @christyr5080
      @christyr5080 6 років тому +7

      and the thing is that most people are not addicted to the drug itself (except for opiates rewiring ur brain so that the only thing that will help you is them). they're addicted to how it makes you feel. you quit taking it for a while and when the craving returns, ur after the feeling that it gives you, whatever it may be. or in some cases, you're after how it takes away feelings. addiction is very complicated and I'm so glad that you said that. don't get me wrong, I get so fucking mad when someone tells me that they have to have Suboxone to be ok, when the reason they need the suboxin is because they fucking got addicted to the shit from getting high. here I I am, basically in the same position and the Suboxone doesn't do me any good. helps with the Cravings but not with the pain. of course I don't have insurance because can't work even though I try and I still try to do whatever I can. if i had insurance I might be able to have procedures done that could alleviate some of the pain, I don't think it would be all of it im not that stupid but some of it is way better than none of it. then maybe I might be able to take books instead of pain pills. I don't want to take them.
      been through severe addiction severe withdrawal reviews in them now I take them and only hope though help me to get through the day until I can take my sleeping pill.

They're definitely more of a victim than these sjw idiots walking, around and 1st world feminists who will let anyone see their goodies. These addicts are victims. They're victim to whatever led them to feel so much pain that they drowned themselves in addiction. You can't look at the aftermath without looking at where it started.

      Cthulhu For President I live just a few miles from East Liverpool. Junkies do alot of damage. Almost everyone I know is a junky. Everyone choose to snort pills or shoot up. I told people twenty five years ago when East Liverpool city hospital was giving out Percocets for a toothache that they would be addicted to them in two weeks. All I was told was "but these are great with a couple beers".
      People are dying because all the ambulance and medics are tending to ODs. I know of people that had ODed over a dozen times. You know what. Narcan does not work after a dozen or so times. People have parties with the intent to OD and have someone bring them back. When it doesn't work they dump the body. Junkies are not victims, they are scum.

    All of you telling your opioid addiction stories..I am 47, have 1 kidney, full of stones, and nearing the end of Stage 4 kidney disease. I am in constant pain, and cannot get treatment for my pain because of the opioid crisis. Instead, I am forced to take Nsaids, which further destroy and injure my kidney and will lead me to a quicker death since dialysis is not an option, and I won't make it to a transplant. For the doctors who won't help, thanks for not helping & treating me like a druggie. For the addicts who caused the crisis, thanks. My children also thank you.

    I'm glad they posted the picture. Stop hiding it. I was addicted to morphine for seven years after starting with Vicoden for chronic pain. The day I thought about getting heroin instead because it was more accessible and a lot cheaper was the day I called the treatment program. It's not a f**king joke. I wasn't a typical addict, hell most people had no clue, but I was addicted nonetheless. My kids were clothed and feed and I never got so far gone that I nodded off. But other areas of our lives went to hell. I'm almost 4 years sober and I know there has to be a moment when you're done. You have to not want to live that way. You can't do it for anyone but you. Court ordered rehab doesn't work unless the addict is done. I required a lot of honesty and brutal self examination to get to where I am today. Keep posting pictures. Not in mockery but to force people to understand that the real victims of addiction are the children and the addicts loved ones. Most people become addicts because of emotional pain. Deal with your shit and stop trying to 'make it all go away'.

      That sounds almost identical to each starting addicts story, like you read that at addict.com and just regurgitated it, for fucks sake you were addicted how many years and cant spell the drug youre "addicted" to??? Why stick with norco at all when percocet or oxycontin were more potent and easier to acquire? Almost every "addict" thinks no one knows but them, they think theyre unique but theyre not, i promise, youre the most common type of "addict", very mild and mostly just looking for attention, never having known to not have a bed to sleep in, never been hungry for days, never really abused any drugs, taking two "vicoden" whatever that is isnt abuse, youre the type of person to tell me norco is stronger than vicoDIN or lortab in the same mg dose, or the same person who cant tell the difference in oxycodone acetiminophen (that means its percocet) and oxycodone HCL in the same mg dose. Point being, stop pretending, learn to spell the drug you abused for years and come up with a better story than, "no one knew, not my kids or boss; i lost who i am, i lost my soul to the devil", just be more creative. And one last thing, how long were you DS when you supposedly kicked the habit and what sort of medicine did you use to keep the ds away and how did you go through it without anyone noticing since its impossible unless completey alone?

    • @The_Cholo
      @The_Cholo 6 років тому +2

      And i completely forgot to ask, the morphine you took, in what form was it and how did you take it? If its the ER tabs IR tabs, what mg and did you eat them, cause thats a waste when they can be racked, smoked or booted which is the only way to even feel a buzz, please tell me more.

      Joseph Woodall
      Well, Joseph there's nothing new about addiction. That's why so many stories sound the same. It doesn't matter how I took it. I will tell you I went into an outpatient treatment program and got on suboxone because withdrawal is the worst, most horrible experience I've ever had. I shudder just remembering it. Please don't think you know me. You know exactly what I've said and it is generic because I don't need to relive those years for you or anyone. I did my time, so to speak, and I'm not going to say anything else about it.

      I think the parents are definitely guilty of child neglect and endangerment. The word 'victim' when used for drug addicts is iffy. I think they are sick, and they need help. Unfortunately, in many situations where an addict is willing to get treatment, there isn't enough money in the system to help everyone.

      @@toniaaddair1898 Thank you so very very much Tonia, you're kind words of encouragement really mean a lot to me.👏👏👏 life is so short and precious a life of drugs is not living at all. Drugs such as heroin strip away from us everything that makes us kind,considerate friendly,thoughtful honest,It takes away our humanity and seriously has such a terrible cruel unending despair no drug addict's are happy go lucky people, they are tormented by that drug they are addicted to it's literally all you'd think about,everything else is meaningless sad but true. Only since I got clean have I truly understood how wonderful life is. I was very lucky I dunno why after so long I was able to quit.? But I am so thankful that I have.🙌 I now help others whom have similar problems, its a great feeling to give back to others of who just a few short years ago I felt the same lost and though I'd never be able to quit or die a addict!
      Everyone deserves a 2nd chance and my own story has help just over a dozen men and women to break free from their addiction issues and live their life happier and free.

      Laura K Junkies have no shame. They are too selfish and are incapable of any feelings. If they are capable of feeling shame, they would not go down this destructive path. If they have a mental illness, (their usual excuse), they would seek out medical treatment. But they don't. Their only love is for drugs. This crime (addiction is a crime because it destroys families and societies) is out of control. I do not think America can do anything about this problem. Junkies are extremely resistant to treatment. The long suffering and hard working taxpayer's money is wasted on them. And for those who are going to argue that addiction is a disease, save your breath. It is not a disease and you are insulting those suffering from a disease who did not ask or wanted to be sick. Addiction and is a self-inflicted toxic lifestyle.

      Edit: You can also buy a drug called O-desmethyl-tramadol completely legally online. It's the active metabolite of tramadol.

    people are so ignorant sometimes. of course the little boy is a victim but o are these people. as somebody who has parents with alcohol and drug addictions, yes, it has a large affect on the child, but the addicts are victims too. you don’t know how many times my parents have tried to quit, gone to rehab, therapy, it’s not easy. sure it can be done but some people aren’t strong enough.
    in no way am i excusing their neglect, being a drug addict is NO excuse for neglecting your child and putting them through this, but it doesn’t make them bad peolel. doesn’t mean they aren’t victims. addiction is a terrible thing, it can happen to anyone. you can get addicted to medicine your doctor gives you.
    it’s serious, it’s terrible, and it’s sad. doesn’t make drug addicts bad people and i have no doubt in my mind she cared about the boy. it doesn’t excuse her behavior, but it doesn’t mean she isn’t a victim either.

      I totally understand your point but they had a choice. If they knew they are addicts who can't control themselves even to the point when they're driving let alone with a child , they shouldn't have decided to bring the child with them in the car. It was a concious decision. Being addicted and unable to stop themselves is one thing and I understand that they might be a victim but choosing to risk a kid's life when you know you won't be able to stop yourself is just bad parenting and needs to punished. My only concern is the boy's image being circulated but I hope the look the on the boy's face will stop atleast some people using drugs and I certainly hope this boy isn't remembered by everyone and made into an article when he gets big

      Shameca Rose. Well yeah I went for 2 years in excruciating pain before being forced to take meds, opiates, but that doesn't make me weak. You are no better than I am. At least you were able to have a child, that option was taken away from me after a horrifically botched spine fusion. I'm actually 2 inches shorter after that fusion. I do NOT abuse my meds, never have, and literally need them just to survive. Without them I would have put a gun to my head years ago. Sorry but you can't compare yourself to someone who literally cannot walk without them, shower, do anything without them, and I haven't slept for more than 1 hour at a time since 1999. Only .08% of true pain patients will ever become a drug addict and out of that .08% they all have some form of dependence issue with something in their past.

    My eyes were welling up then when I saw the woman passed out/unconscious with her little tiny girl crying and trying to lift up her head, I lost it... I just don’t understand how ANYONE could let themselves get to that point, but with babies...😢small children😢 or ANY aged kids, it truly blows my mind🤯 I used to be afraid to even take sleep medication when my kids were young... I absolutely know that I am extremely BLESSED to not have ANY addictions and I was no angel in my teens and early 20’s! Once I had my first child, I never picked up a cigarette again nor drank to excess. I go years sometimes without even having a single glass of wine. I wish that EVERYONE could be immune to addiction but I know I am one of a very few people who are. Addiction runs deep through my family tree. I believe that I’m the only one in my family who isn’t addicted to anything, even sex. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy sex and don’t mind having a couple beers when one of my brothers come from states away to visit. But none of these things rule my life. I have been dealing with illness and chronic pain for 8-9 years now and was on Fentanyl patches and took VERY HEAVY pain killers, muscle relaxers, meds. for severe anxiety, etc...! But I was able to go off of them when I needed to. I had a family member steal several of my medications including Fentanyl patches (she cut them then would chew on them...). She was visiting for about 6 weeks to help take care of me while doing this. I found out that she almost OD’d a couple times right there in my guest bathroom she was using while she was there... My first husband almost lost his battle with addiction too many times to count. He was my best friend and the absolute love of my life...😢 I sadly had to divorce him because he put our two children’s (they were 2 and 3) lives in danger a few times. I DIDN’T KNOW until the third time and then found out about a couple more times before that... I really wonder now how many times that happened that I don’t know about.... I try not to think about it. They are 17 and 18 now. The oldest is in college to become a veterinarian and the other is going Pre-Med! Anyway, if you EVER get into a situation where you think, “well, I can handle this, I did this before when I was younger and didn’t have any kids”, remember that Satan is the one telling you it OK... Just think about the worst case scenario and remember that there is actually a chance that it could happen! Anyway, I feel so bad for the children involved in these situations AND for the parents/grandparents too. Get help as soon as possible if you can’t get an addiction under control, there are A LOT of help and resources out there these days, you just have to reach out and ask for it!
    Love from Texas❤️🤠✝️

    Those cops made the best decision! I worked trial & error on pain Medes with my specialist when we tried something Brand new. It was Fentynol. It was so new at the time that a Doc assisting with my laparoscopy asked what it was & looked it up in his pocket PDR. I asked to be taken off it bc I hadn't needed one for a day, went to bed then woke up at 4am going through a withdrawal. I said right then that unless someone is TERMINALLY ILL, No human needs to be on that shit! Sucked for me 6 yrs ago when I tried calling around to help me get off the pain meds. I had SEVERAL centers at the time tell me I wasn't in need like people who are addicted to actual or illegal drugs. I didn't have insurance at that moment, so my mom & I just tapered me off till all my script was gone. It's SO dangerous & im so glad the country is starting to do something about it! Victoria Morris how is it a disease? Everyone knows the risk of sticking a needle in their arm to get high but then once addicted because of their choice it's now a disease? A young child doesn't make any choice to go and get chrohns disease but you want to equate something like that with people looking to get high? Looking to mask ones problems with drugs is a brokenness of the mind and willpower not some poor sap who got coughed on by the wrong person. Calling drug addicts "victims" only enables a sense of self pity which only furthers drug use. People get high for a slew of reasons however a person with leukemia or whatever has no choice in the matter. Stop enabling please.
