  • For the second in the "Legacies of Linville Gorge" series ... it just had to be Christopher Blake. Author of two books that should definitely be in any die hard Gorge Rat's library ... his first, "River of Cliffs, A Linville Gorge Reader" and his second a part of the "Images of America" series by Arcadia Publishing ... "Linville Gorge Wilderness Area".

I spent an entire afternoon with Chris in his cabin in Linville Falls and along the Marion Wright trail. Chris' cabin is within walking distance of the north end of the Gorge and even closer to "Famous Louise's Rock House Restaurant" ... Chris is living the Gorge Rat dream!

This was a difficult editing job ... how to take four hours of filming with a man like Chris and turn it into a UA-cam video ... that's a task. But reliving the afternoon by editing the footage was a joy.
Chris first saw the Gorge as a student at the NC Outward Bound School based below the north east corner of Table Rock. He was a member of the Green Beret and saw the Gorge again as a member of a communications team training in the Gorge. He's also the founder of the "Friends of Linville Gorge" a group dedicated to promoting, protecting and maintaining the Gorge.

Chris is a perfect example of what a Legacy of Linville Gorge is ... in the truest sense of the phrase.

Great piece of history Hawk-Eye! You're putting together a wealth of information here, from those that are still 'the real deal'.
    Thank you.
