EXPLORING Fort Jefferson in the DRY TORTUGAS on a 42' Freeman Boatworks

- We take a ride to Fort Jefferson in the Dry Tortugas on my friend Brad's 42 Freeman Boatworks. It's a 3 hour run each way but we take the Kids for the first ever trip to see the Fort! We show you along the ride as well as around Fort Jefferson when we walk around and go inside. Of course we had to do a little snorkeling before we came home so we finish the vide with some underwater footage from down there! Enjoy!

Was there about 1986. On the winter queen party boat I would highly recommend anybody to take this trip it is a wonderful piece of history. Thanks Nick for old memories.
Capt I cant tell you how 15 secs innit see the kids sitting on the boat taking part on these adventures . As a boater that has raised 4 kids on the water and any adventures to ft Jefferson I love to see you involving the early. 👍👍
I remember camping there a few days as a kid, back in the 90s. Summer camp. We kayaked and snorkeled like crazy and went to the fort every chance we got, cause it was the only place on the whole blessed island that had a drinking fountain. At night, we'd stargaze and watch glowing waves of florescent hit the outer moat. It felt like the edge of the world. It was......magical.
Thanks for sharing this. You can take the boy out of Florida, but you can never really take the Florida out of the boy. I should go again someday, while its still pristine.

Nice ride, I'm enjoying seeing some of the landmarks, it's been a while since I've been down you're way so reaquainting myself with the landmarks is nice. Florida Keys is truly a gift from heaven and I am so glad that the people that have made the area their home take it serious. Lots of history there, and it still feels like you're going back in time when you travel US 1 to get to Key West. I enjoyed the 150 miles in its entirety.
Family time is always the best time. Way to go Stanzfam and keep up the awesome youtube videos.

Fort Jefferson is a massive but unfinished coastal fortress. It is the largest brick masonry structure in the Americas, and is composed of over 16 million bricks.
As a brick mason I appreciate this fact. That's crazy! I want to check it out.

Had a greast trip there in 2018. Wife and kids loved it. Nice snapper all over the fort, big lobster, and plenty of sharks. Was a great day trip. You guys looked like you enjoyed it as well.

One of my favorite runs, that and Cuba I actually covered both places in one long trip, trip of a lifetime, my 1st trip to Cuba was imitating but done, ft Jefferson is gorgeous I leave from KW and 4 hours for me I love that whole lower keys area planning a marquesses o/night fishing trip soon, love these videos

I don't typically leave negative comments, So here it goes. You have young toddlers on the boat without PFDs while underway. Your boat is beautiful and very fast. It only takes a second for things to go very wrong.

Had our boat in Marathon for mini season 2 years ago but took the seaplane to Dry Tortugas for a day trip. What a great experience!
Do you know If there are any unknown islands further out from Fort Jefferson by any chance ?
@@vlatter9537 I think Loggerhead is the farthest out which you can actually kayak over to from Ft Jefferson although it’s a bit away.
It’s not unknown, but is the farthest in the US.

Captain. I spend a lot of time on the same waters with you. Im a subscriber and truly enjoy your videos. This is the first time I have ever been compelled to post a comment. Put preservers on those kids. Your comfort on the water is obvious, but things happen fast out there, especially on a Freeman. Your a great dad and like it or not, your looked up to by the public. Set the example. Don’t be another sad story on the water.
In 2001,was there snorkeling..a young girl drowned...i was the one who found her floating...it was very hard to deal with...have not been back since,i injoy your videos so much...such a beautiful place...ole fla boy here...peace ..😎

There is a very large crocodile in that moat. It hangs out in a culvert like passage most of the time, but occasionally it comes out in the open.
I heard there used to be one there. It may have moved or been relocated from what I understand
Looks amazing. However in contrast, here in the north woods its gets just as amazing because we have as many bars as people and plenty of walleyes.
Haven't been to Dry Tortugas in 5.5 years. Saw a big salt water croc in the moat when I was there.
