  • The dealership was going to charge me $150 PER BULB to do what I just did in 10 minutes! And I was even going to furnish them the parts. You DON'T have to pay ridiculous prices for minor repairs. Have the confidence to do do them yourself! Thank you to Joyce at Napa Auto in West Sac for telling me "You got this"!

I'm a do it yourself-er, and was also quoted $150 a bulb to replace. I am a 66 year old female and did it myself! Thank you for such great direction! I got it done although I had one problem. I turned the wheel in too tight on the first side and then the key wouldn't turn and the steering wheel was jammed. I played with it for a while and then grabbed the wheel hard, turned it the slightest bit and it unlocked. Yea! Checked the light, it worked. Then onto the driver side which I decided to do even though it wasn't out yet. The driver side took me 11 minutes from start to finish. A bit harder than the passenger side but I thought my time was pretty great! Thanks again for your help!

The mechanic I asked about changing the headlight said it was kind of complicated and time consuming, and would take the shop at least a half hour and cost would be around $150. At the last minute I decided to look it up online and I found your video and it gave me the confidence to give it a try. I had some trouble detaching the old light (it turned out to be different from the images I saw of a clip that you squeeze to release), but after a quick prayer to St. Joseph I pulled out a flat-head screwdriver and got it unhooked. What a great feeling to do this myself. So thank you, thank you, thank you. Also, I love the relationship you have with your husband! Looks like true companionship. God bless you.

You have motivated my 12-year-old, BB and I to change our 2017 Traverse bulbs ourselves. The glitter nails is what gave us the final push and can-do spirit. This lady says, "Thanks!"

I changed my highbeams last year and now I need to change my low beams… So I watched these videos for a refresher… You were the only one smart enough to remind people not to touch the halogen bulbs with your bare hands…

My 14 year old son and I replaced the headlight bulb (regular, not high beam) on our 2009 Chevy Traverse after watching your video and another video. So rewarding and a bonding experience for us. Thank you.

Thanks for discussing the 2014 Traverse; others here in UA-cam are on older model years Just had my first battle and "hurray i got it" (and can tell my dealership to cancel my appointment and I just saved $200!). But when doing the first lamp the first time, it helps to peak in there with a flashlight to get that "memory" of position for the cap, bulb socket and most importantly look at the clip that holds the lamp bulb in the socket AND look at the new bulb to notice the plastic bump on the wide bottom flat side. So, take a peak thru the slot behind the wheelwell panel with the flashlight after each step. The cap and bulb are easy to find and turn/release, but for me the clip would not release with finger pressure. I realized a screwdriver assist is needed here. So, I first put my small flashlight inside the compartment behind the well cover facing up to see the socket. Then I had to contort myself to look while pushing both forearms thru, holding the socket with one hand and place a screwdriver blade under the clip with the other. With light turning pressure of the screwdriver under the clip it popped off and the old bulb easily came off the socket. That was a good grief moment. Reassembly was fairly easy and quick after that. Whew! Hope this tip helps others to learn how to deal with the access issue. Also, Autozone recommend putting a dab of electrical connector gel on each blade of the new lamp before assembly (it was free with the lamp purchase). And GM, I sure hope you have the headlamp access improved on the newer models! Give the owners a break here, please!

Just wanted to say THANKS!! I asked at the Firestone store and it cost 130 per side. Unfortunately, I was low on cash and had to borrow the socket and gloves from Advanced Auto and did it in thirty minutes ( in my defense it was already dark out 😋). And I’m the husband by the way.

Here I am again 11 months later changing my bulbs yet again… The guy at AutoZone told me to use dielectric grease on the contacts to keep moisture out and maybe the bulbs won’t burn out so quickly... this is the third time in two years that I’ve had to change them…

Changed MANY headlight bulbs in my day, and you're right, the hi beam is one son of a gun tondo. Couldn't get my hand in from the top, that would have made its much easier! All the how to videos on this bulb change only show the low beam and there is a reason!
