    Great list, however in my opinion, I would put 1984 Topps Football ahead of 82 FB. Sure the LT, Lott and Munoz are great cards, just think the Elway, Marino, Dickerson and 9 other HOF RC’s are more impactful. I love the content, keep up the great work.

    That Topps Ad showing the 1974 Mike Schmidt second year card had to have been the biggest false advertising I’ve ever seen. Even in 1990 that card was about a $40 card.

    Great video! I agree with #1. That perforated trio Bird/Magic rookie card is amazing. Topps later produced the 2003 Matrix set with the legendary “Big 3” Lebron/Wade/Bosh rookie and variation with Carmelo. Super iconic design.

    Beef for sure for me. For anyone looking for a decent 80's set that wasn't overproduced to hell but that doesn't break the bank, I'd look at '83 Topps baseball. You have three iconic HOF rookie cards in Gwynn, Boggs and Sandberg, and the design of the set is really nice too. Pretty sure you can pick up a complete set for less than $100.

    Great breakdown on the Topps sets of the 80’s. Definitely nothing from the late 80’s. Love the commercial of Mike Schmidt stating it might be your last chance to get a 1990 set. I bet you have found a few sealed versions of that set in the collections you have found.
    I’m definitely going with fish, and chicken would be second. Basically have cut out most red meat from my diet.
    Public service announcement, Patrick Roy of the Canadians and Avalanche is pronounced “waah” and not “Roy”. Looking forward to the next chicken coop episode! 😝😜🤪

    Absolutely ❤️ Smooth Sleeves!!! Been using them since the beginning. They’re 1A in sleeves w/ 1B being the Grade Saver Pro pull tab sleeves! An absolute MUST when sending cards in for grading.
    For the most part I agree w/the list, but would think the 1980 Topps Rickey Henderson set would be higher up since his rookie cards worth more than all the rest sans the Bird/Magic/DrJ! Although, of course they’re super difficult to grade.

    I have a topic question that I would love to hear you thoughts. In the Junk wax error cards were way over produced. And that meant there were thousands of each individual player. Seems like today there are thousands of cards of each player but they are numbering a lot of them making them chase cards. So is there actually a false market that will fall apart one day.

    • @carolinatarheels7903
      @carolinatarheels7903 Рік тому

      Instead of 5 million of the same card in the 80’s now you have 5 million 1 of 1s that basically diminish the value. It’s why you can find inserts from the 90’s numbered to 500 that are worth more than 1 of 1s today of the same player.

  • @jakestoe
    @jakestoe Рік тому +2

    Other than hockey, I had many of those cards in my youth. Some were traded, some went into bike spokes, some were BB gun targets and the survivors (Henderson rc, Bird &Magic rc etc) were later stolen out of a storage unit I had in the early 90s. Trying to replace some but it's getting expensive these days...

    @brentwalker5726 Рік тому

    Fun fact - the 198 card Topps hockey sets in the mid-80s didn't feature "doubles' of several players. 66 of the cards were "double printed". This was due to the layout of the cards on the sheets of cardboard. 132 was usually the "magic number" of cards on a sheet. So the 198 cards sets had 132 single printed and 66 double printed (66 + 66 = 132) cards. Many sets had card totals in multiples of 132 total cards. Topps football sets in the 80s either had 528 (132 × 4) or 396 (132 × 3) cards while most of the baseball sets had huge 792 (132 × 6) card checklists.

    You got any videos out there about what your family is learning about related to homesteading?
    P.s. Chicken would be my choice. Plus, chickens are easy to raise and they can be helpful for soil health if you do things well. Fish would be cool too, especially if you set up some aquaponics kinds of systems to go along with them, so their poo before you eat them could feed plant growth.

    • @CHASINGCARDBOARD

    • @scoa
      @scoa Рік тому +1

      @@CHASINGCARDBOARD you should make a channel of your homesteading learning! The fact that you're novices could just be part of the whole thing. I personally would appreciate seeing homesteading through the experience of someone brand new into it who is just figuring out different things for the first time. I mean with everything else you have going on, don't know how motivated you'd be to do another channel, but I'd be happy to be your first subscriber if you did!
      I don't watch any one channel about homesteading at the moment, though I've watched lots on specific topics I wanted to learn more about over the years. Learning about permaculture and small scale farming has been a hobby of mine for quite a number of years now. And as part of homeschooling, my kids and I have done a bunch of small scale farming experiments using different methods (hugelkulture, aquaponics, building raised beds, companion planting, raising chickens, pine needle mulching, etc).

      Love that set. I've bought many over the years. Plenty of Rookies with Hall of Fame talent who won't ever make it (McGwire, Clemens, Gooden). At least it has the Puckett.
      The McGwire PSA 10 consistently sells at $1500-$2000, Clemens at about $1000, and the Puckett around $800. Heck the Eric Davis PSA 10 usually fetches between $700-$1000. Not to mention about a dozen Hall of Famers whose 10s live in the $200-$500 range.
      For me, the 1985 is definitely worth the $50 to hunt for those 10s. Plenty of chances and good ROI every time.

    I would rate 82 topps traded at the bottom. Only 1 card has any real value in the set. In a psa 9 the 82 LT rookie is worth about the same as the 82 ripken traded.

    99 times out of 100, pulling cards out of these complete sets will not be high grade. Otherwise that would be more common practice and the sets would sell for much more than they currently do. Reason they are affordable for most part is bc one should expect the key cards to be mid grade at best. Speaking from experience in attempt to save money and try fish for a high grade RC rather than pay for the slab. Not worthy the money or energy to try that. Live and learn.

      Especially collated sets of the 80’s that didn’t come in factory set form. The dealers that made these sets back then always kept the best centered cards to sell individually. Many times the dealers broke down vending cases to make sets and those were the best because they didn’t get the wax and gum stains but they were also the worst for quality control as they were usually the last off the printers presses and why they were meant for vending machines.

    Chicken would be the best option, it’s the healthiest. Fish is also healthy but there is the issue of mercury as well as radioactive isotopes from Fukushima.

    Pork is a trap for the heathen, detrimental to your health and a sin to the Most High Yah. Lamb, chicken, and sardines all have their place though. Hard to choose just one because they all have their pros. Lamb might be the most nutritious, although chicken and fish are easier to digest.
