I have known my good buddy here since PRE SCHOOL! AND HE GOT A TRUCK CAMPER!! W000T. Thanks so much for checking it out, what do you think of it? Drop me a comment down there
vvvvvv
Down2Mob Overland where can I find those front light pods if you might know, thanks
@@donaldgoembel7109 I was just about to ask the same thing! I need one of those solar lights lol. Get them to sponsor you;)
Craigslist find? Did he do video of the reno and upgrades?
Thanks for the feature buddy! Great edit!
@@CMF_1 Yeah, it was a craigslist find. In the midst of getting it prepped for a trip I didn't document the Reno more than just pictures.
Turn the fan on exhaust (with door closed) when you’re lowering it, it’ll pull the fabric inside and eliminate pinching. 👍🏼
Can you do the bungee trick like the Four Wheel Campers?
I thought the same thing until I seen the drone footage again, there is no vent fan
Whut? That's an awesome comment :)
How are you going to have the door closed when you have to take the top part of the door off to lower it? DUH!
Wont work because of the door. He has to remove the top half before lowering it, creating a gaping hole. Or at least that's what i understood.
My kind of guy right there. Content with what he’s got and is not afraid to jimmy rig it up from time to time
@3:40 that dog knew he was in for some good scraps
That’s a great truck and camper combo. A new pop up with all of those features would cost over $25k. Those old 7.3 liter diesels are bulletproof too. Nice job.
Very very nice.
I used a great used 2000 palomino pop up to go from Connecticut to Alaska and back the summer of 2008. The best ride of my life.
Good deal. Hard to find a good deal with everyone on the internet. I've been truck camping for 16 years. I'm on my second camper. A suggestion... that door for your outside shower is upside down. Undo the screws and flip it 180. The hose holder will be in the right spot and you wont have any leaks because the door is opening up instead of out and up. I like the tool holder around the propane tank. I will have to steal that idea. I use the area where the door opens to the wheel wells as my dirty laundry area. Just put in a plastic bag, or you could be driving down the highway and laundry will be flying out. Been there.
Dude great idea! I will have to try that. And about the door - duh ! Lol we gotta flip it around! Thx for the comment
That's a super little travel cabin which will hugely increase your four season camping, travelling and all round 'Out-n-Aboutin' enjoyment and comfort.
Got the best support legs I've seen, too. I reckon you'll be looking forward to being warm and comfortable inside, cooking up steaks or bacon (or both!) whilst a storm or blizzard rages outside!
Thanks for the tour of your buddy's nice $2200.00 pop up truck camper . I think he got a great buy .
Your welcome bob! I think so too. Thanks for the comment!
I'm in the market for one!
I think he used a gun. 😂😂
@@ictpilot Made the seller an offer he couldn’t refuse….guess they were cheap at one time… or not…
Nice rig! When lowering the roof I use a small piece of wood to block the lift mechanism about half way down then use a broom to tuck in the sides.
Oh nice, thanks for the tip! Does that work pretty well?
@@Down2Mob Works fine. Just need to be gentle with the broom around the screens.
Awesome looking camper. I'm literally shopping one right now, which is why this probably popped up in my feed. I like the reno work
Awesome man, hope this helped! Just a few things made a world of a difference. Thanks for the comment!
Nice camper...super deal, I have a 1200...they are great campers..tons of room, and storage, and having the full size door is wonderful. gr8 stuff as usual...just saw this. always worth the click brother.
This is what living is all about...
When lowering, close all the windows and the door, open your fan and turn on high sucking the air out of the camper. This draws in the canvas/rainfly making it super easy to close and not have to push all the canvas in. Works every time on my NorthStar
Ik this videos four years old but I watched it about a year ago and just picked up the same Palmino today for $1000. Stoked to build it out, love the Chanel brotha!
I love the Palomino setup. I want to upgrade my rig that style - 4x4 pickup and similar year pop top truck camper. The comfort level is amazing!
Loved the drone ascent shot above the campsite.
Phil,
Nice job with the episode-specific intro prior to your standard intro.
I like the outro of the Cummins start.. on to the next adventure!
That Cummins has something wrong with it to start that shitty.
So nice man you guys are living the life
Amazing rig! Thanks for sharing.
That was pretty sharp for an old camper can't beat it
Rinse off the"f'n" Bacon and throw it back on the grill! • 😃
Haha touche!!
Yep
I have done that!
Love your vibes man, keep it up n keep smilin'
I used to have the exact same slide in that I used on the back of the same dodge that you have. My wife and I made multiple trips out west and down south for a month at a time towing two dual sport bikes on a trailer. It was a sweet setup. I put it in storage for a few years and the mice invaded it and chewed the crap out of the soft sides and just destroyed the whole thing. I didn't have any leaks either. I like what he did with the cheesy cabinets. I was lucky that my wife is low key because you have to pee in a jug and crap in a bag. Bummer it is gone.
That's awesome jack! I love the Cummins for sure!!
Maybe get the bungee from a kayak repair kit. Wrap it around the middle of the upper collapsible soft-side, the connect it. Make sure there is enough tension to pull in the soft-side as it’s collapsed. It may work, and fix your problem area. Good luck. peace
Super beaut. I just picked up a '97 Palomino b-1200 on the weekend. Pumped.
Beautiful job! Great deal on this camper
Sweet set up! Someday I hope to be 4x4 and mechanically knowledgeable, so I can do what you guys do. Maybe come say hi 😁
You’re my fave channel. I’ll keep supporting you, I LOve all the funny bits and everything you kids do.
Kudos to the chef for a job well done too !
My set up.
Ford F-350 7.3L 2x4 1994 with a Scorpio 1998 truck camper.
Thank you fernanda! We were so lucky to have matt cooking some breakfast for us during the walk around, and it made for some funny interruptions! Haha sounds like you have a great setup! Thx for the comment :)
Sweet setup! 👍🏼💪🏽🤘🏼
Dude you can have an awesome camper experience on a $2K Budget. That is dope i want one
I like the ax on the outside its like leaving the keys on the step!
That propane bucket storage organizer is a great idea.
I dig that camper for only 2gs. The four wheel campers have a loop in the center of the windows to attach some bungies to that way when you lower it the tarp pulls in. I'll have a few vids uploaded soon so you can see what I'm talking about.
Thanks sir William! Ya I forgot to put that part in the video, we were talking about adding bungee because my pop top has them and they help. Thx for the comment!
The bucket caddy on the propane tank is a killer idea!
That’s camper is so cool. I’m looking in to down size from a 25ft long class C RV to a slide in camper like this. I have a 2001 Dodge 2500 extend cab/ long bed. I want one that’s roomy and have all the stuff I need but not to heavy and big. I just did the rear air bags so i can have the camper and tow a 7x15 enclosed trailer. It’s just my girlfriend, dog and myself so don’t need a huge RV and the trailer is for my 3 bikes and a Polaris RXR turbo. Your channel inspired me to make the down size.
I have furkids my cats. Your current vehicle must be very roomy. I looking at used class B and C ones. I need enough room for them and me. What has been your experiences with your furkid and girlfriend with your RV as in living space.
I've got a T100 and that would be my dream camper. But that Ford is awesome and I'd rather have that combo.
Love the pop up. You can go where others dream.
EXACTLY! mobbin
Really nice camper, and beautifully simple and achievable
Damn sure wouldn't have taken my 6.0 liter f250 camping. It broke down every 6 weeks on the regular.
I've got a palomino bronco for my Tacoma other than kill my gas mileage it's a great little camper I paid a grand for it 3 years ago and have taken it all over the northeast
Nice! Sounds like it has seen some awesome stuff
depending on the YR/Model/Size - these are excellent pop-ups - I have a 2007 BRONCO B-600 model, the smallest, has stayed mint, great modern interior, nice and tight on my lifted RAM, cool in summer and warm through late Fall
For outdoor showering, I always shower in my boxers and then hang them up to dry with some spray on fabric softener. I bought a shower tent and I still use it if I set up for the cassette toilet but that’s pretty rare. I wish I had saved my money on that.
I love your videos, thanks for making them. I’d love to see a flip-pac if you ever come across one. I always thought a well equipped one would be perfect. Thanks!
Sweet. I especially like how you turned your propane tank into a massive fragmentation grenade, that’s awesome.
I blow up at least one a month, happens all the time. Oh wait...
@@Down2Mob lol
yep at least once a week for me @@Down2Mob
I came here to post the same! haha
@@UhYeahWhateverDude Oh! Okay, good one!! It seemed more critical than jokey, like a safety sally type comment.
People who dont go out and do things like this look at us as if WE are crazy! Cool video.
Hahaha right? They are lookin at me crazy right now in mcdonalds as I upload videos and reply to comments from the road lol
Got the same set up with a SunLite camper.mounter on a 2000 F250 Power Stroke. Had to rebuild the lift system. Anchors at the back end came loose. This camper has a toilet and an A/C unit built in.
Not much mention of the Legendary 7.3 Power Stroke in that truck. That motor will outlast every single one of us! I have one and belong to several forum where owners regularly get 800,000 to 1 million miles out of those damn things! WOOOT THAT!
Lol, the what's her name question went straight over his head.
I've heard of you install a good roof vent fan like a fantastic fan. Turn it on high with the windows and doors closed while putting the top down it will suck the sides in so you dont have to go around and tuck them in or at least as much. Of course that depends on if he wants to install a roof fan.
nice camper I like it good job guys have fun
Tell your friend that as he lets the top down to turn on the external fan (that is if there is one) and it will suck the sides in as you go down
What a gem. Been trying to find one myself
My Rand McNally has that same voice, her name is Samantha. Very nice rig. If my bed was bigger I'd look for one myself.
Love your content.
Dude that pop up camper is Sick !!!!
I used to have an 8 foot one on a 1/2 ton Chevy. I'd love to have a 6 foot one now!
I picked up a Shadow Cruiser slide in that pops up for $750. Everything works and my wife and I love it for minimalist camping.
Sweet camper! Great amount of storage, good layout, and the weight is amazing! Thanks for sharing.
It is awesome, my pleasure, thanks for commenting!
Good vid... nice set up 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
That set up is sick. Can’t beat the price either!
COOL set up! 🤙🏼🌴
Nice setup ... and camp site !
Having to get up on a ladder to tuck in the soft side ALL THE WAY AROUND looks like a major pain in the ass. And would take along time. Plus up & Down 10 - 15 times looks like more work than the Bed tent set up. Great review to see what that type of set up is really like. Thanks for posting. Good Vibes 👣
I know In the beginning I was like $2,200 for the truck and the shell topper what a steal. Then you specified and I was like oh okay. That would’ve been the deal of the century
Loved that palomino truck ..
Nice pop up. I'm gonna be looking for one soon for my 97 12valve ram dually.
I need to find myself one of these! What a deal
I've always turned my nose up at palomino waiting for a four wheel but I hear their quality has improved quite a bit in the last few years.
Awesome to see AZ boys, at my local spot. 👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Nice setup!!
I picked up a Jayco Popup. Paid $1500 and it needs a few things but decent, no shower like yours but not hard to figure that solution out. I put it on the same 99 7.3 truck just in white, I did find a 66 gallon under body fuel tank for a song ;) It’s my bug out vehicle. Load up my GS or the dirt bike on a receiver mounted hitch.
I've been wanting popup for my F150. Cannae find used ones hardly. How that short antenna work?
nice set up
Anyone have a link for the drill adapter for raising the roof? I can't seem to find one. Thanks
Very nice truck!
I'm mad jelly of this set up. I'll definitely be keeping my eye out for a camper like this one in anywhere near that price point. Tell your buddy to get a channel going! Theres a huge market for old Superdutys/7.3's and no ones doing it. I need to know where he got those ditch brackets for my nilights too..... lol
Here's the link to the brackets kahlkreations.com/99-09-ford-superduty-cowl-mounting-brackets/ and good idea on a channel. I might just have to start making some content. Thank for watching!
That's great! And this camp crew happens to have two (5.9 cummins and 7.3 stroker) of the best sounding Diesel engines ever made 😀👍🏻👍🏻
Haha yes sir! We love them diesels! Thanks for the comment
Say whats the name of the drill adapter for cranking the top of camper. Thank you
good score. popup is the way to go.you don't have to spend 30g's on a camper
Haha so true!
Nice job!
I have a Sunlite version very similar set up in just about every except mine does not have a shower and only has a ice box fridge but hey I only paid 350.00 dollars for it. I wouldn't have my axe stored out side unless I was sure others were not around .
Bucket caddy is an awesome idea.
Awesome 👏
Good deal on the pop up! I was looking for an affordable small pop up for 2 years, couldn't find anything that fit my needs, so I built my own, It is a hard sided pop up, very similar to the alaskan camper style, no over the cab bunk, but it does have an inside as well as an outside shower, plus sink, toilet, etc. Hope your friend enjoys his, and y'all have some great adventures!
now that is sweet
What year, and model is this Palomino? I'm looking for a set up almost to exact specs as that.
Maybe when my van goes out been thinking about a truck camper. But does it handle like a heavy rv van? And about parking in regular parking space. Nobody cover this
Nice set up! I would take it to the Keys for early February.
Hhmm, you could try a piece of wire, wrapped all the way around the middle of the rain cover. As you drop the top down just tension the wire- in theory it should pull in the rain cover. Probably want to keep the wire in the middle of the rain cover.
Do they make an in-bed camper for chevrolet silverado 1500 ls 6 1/2 foot beds?
I wanna be part of you guys’ club.
Cool guys+cool rigs=cool fun
downshifter4179 me too!!!! Love this guys!
Haha sent me a dm on instagram and let's meet up! I'll be in Utah tomorrow, Nevada in a few weeks, cali, then up to Oregon, Washington, and Canada by june!
I would really love that but I live on the other side of the USA, Maine.
If you get over this way one day, it’s a for sure thing
@@downshifter4179 What part?
Craig F.
Western mountain part. Oxford county.
That thing is sweet
I’m shocked at how well this works. This could be a full time home if you need it to be.
The only thing missing is stealth and indoor shower
I've got a Northstar pop up and I love it. Light and not a lot of wind drag when you're driving. We close the door and crank the Fantastic Fan to high when dropping the top - it sucks in the canvas on the way down. Question...can you provide a link to that crank bit shown in the video? Fife says he got it on eBay, but I can't find it anywhere. It would be great to source one of these and it looks like the same end that we use in ours. Thanks!
Here you go Jeff www.ebay.com/itm/HECO-GLIDE-UP-CRANK-DRILL-ATTACHMENT-HD-/132712014789. Hope that helps
cool set up
door is super cool
I have the same camoer on a 1987 Toyota xtracab pickup. I can run freeway speed no problem with my little 4cylinder 22re.
Truck campers are the best. They can go anywhere a truck can go! If you ever want to replace your power train, get a new truck! For a VAN to be 4x4 first it is rare, and second it’s expensive and still won’t have the capability of the truck.
I was wondering what those solar lights he uses for the outside of camper were.. I would like to order them for my camper as well. I was hoping there would be a link, because you had mentioned that you would have the link... Thanks.. Great channel
Thing sounds like and has the feel of a boat 😂
