The Witness precursor species may have used or been in connection with the Vex! Glass-Minds that allowed them to narrow down specific futures and outcomes. While we still need more answers, this definitely seems like a hint!
I'm hoping they don't just forget that plot point in Final Shape. It's weird she hasn't had anything to say since Seraph this is her life mission she's been stuck in a time loop until darkness has been beaten. I'd always like to know why her? She isn't a guardian, would it not make more sense for a guardian? Can a ghost not travel back?
One of the predictions relayed from the Observatory reads: 'Machine-plagues carving their prediction-machines into moons.' That fits the D1 description of the Vex pretty good as well. Converting entire plantes to machine.
I feel like the vex is almost like a prediction engine running rampant. Perhaps the precursors found the vex when they were just radiolaria, and utilized them, but as the radiolaria learned from base info the precursors fed the vex-powered prediction machine, the vex desired to know everything, and eventually decided to try to forcefully integrate everything into their network. Think about it
In the lore cards of the Vault of glass there is mention of the radiolaria being the result of an energy parallel to gardener and winnower coming to life, a sort of first alive being in the universe, still in energy form. From what i remember the vex have the sole purpose of existing, and integrated things into their network only via radiolaria at first, but since the incident with crota and oryx they learned about the sword logic, or more precisely they integrated into their logic the idea of actively killing to speeden their objective. From then on they have been slowly consuming the universe and trying to find ways in space time to do so, their progress only hampered by paracausal forces both light and dark
So what if this all knowing all seeing Vex mind saw that it was not a part of the Final Shape and has been pushing humanity and the Guardians to the place we needed to be to beat the Witness and prevent the Final Shape. Now that could be some amazing storytelling, and would explain those random people who get caught in the Vex but are still able to communicate. They are tools to an end. Not mistakes but deliberate choices made by the Vex to the end I predicted.
Id bet this is the current way the story is going. The only vex that deliberately made "mistakes" were of the sol divisive, a sect that sees in the impossibility of simulating the paracausal forces of the witness an answer to their all consuming imperative, and its said time and time again in the game.
The Vex are a Radiolaria hive mind. Radiolaria have shells made of silica. Silica being what glass is made out of. Many Radiolaria shells are transparent. (And while not really realated to the topic they look reaaal funky, look it up). Glass minds is honsestly a viable synonym for the Vex generally speaking, not just some specialized units.
While I have leared much about Radiolaria the past few years through passive reaserach I have unfountunetly not yet figuerd out weather is is possible to drink pure consentraided radiolaria(Vex milk) and live. But I hope to find out someday.

Sounds like a ret retcon again. The light fall intro of the witnesses people said they found the traveler buried in their planet... and vex were from a different dimension.
Pretty sure the vex from a different dimension was retconned years back but since Bungie never gave a new answer to the vex people stayed with that as the answer.
For a moment, I had the thought that the Vex are the same as the precursors except they do not have the intelligence to fully utilize their technology, and that's why they didn't get caught up into the philosophical dilemmas that the precursors did, as well as Maya Sundaresh on Neomuna. And that's why they achieved the 'final shape' in their 'instance of reality'. It's like a physicist getting caught up in theoretical math, and a calculator. The Physicist will get caught up exploring one set of variables, thinking they are approaching enlightenment but never will. Yet the calculator will only use what it needs, and thus, will reach a higher state of enlightenment in the end. So, perhaps the Vex started out as a computational tool for the Precursors, and as both evolved, one actually advanced, and the other 'stalled out' and forced an unnatural evolution to get out of it. I think too much. I'll never reach my final shape at this rate.
@EvazeOfficial Glass can also refer to the underlying computational substrate the system is running on. A form of so-called computronium - matter specifically engineered to be optimized for computing use. It's possible that these are optronic in nature - optical electronics- a technology we currently are IRL beginning to make use of. It is very possible that the "glass" is an optimized form of crystalline carbon - diamond - or a near-form thereof (so-called diamondoid). While we associate glass with fragility, this instead would refer to how such a material (which might be QUITE strong indeed!) might look to the naked eye - a crystal, glass-like, mostly clear, with that faceted "diamond rainbow fire" look.
@@nighthawkviper6791If the technology for this form of diamondoid-based computronium ever reaches market, carrying the current-era internet in your pocket might be an idea of the sheer data density possible. The tech, however, requires the ability to custom-tailor crystalline carbon layouts at a near-atomic level, and have a laser system rugged enough to not lose alignment when reading the crystal. It's do-able, and your density is going to be dependent upon the frequency of your lasers. Of course, bear in mind what happens when a piece of technology like this come in - suddenly, gem-grade diamonds are worthless. It's not going to be nice for our economy. Will it happen, though? Likely, as the need for massive personal data storage keeps climbing.
Honestly, this is putting the old lore book about the game into a new context. Think its even more on the nose. Vex are radiolaria, radiolaria capsules are made of silica, therefore glass minds. Not a perfect analogy, but i feel like it was made in order to make you think oh, definitely Vex
Not quite. A single Vex unit has millions of vex in it. The Radiolarian fluid is a colony of organisms. Like if you were puppeted by your blood cells, that also did all the thinking. As such their convergence is more like coming off the Bus to go to work in an office. The Witness had a much more violent convergence, that involved stripping unwanted thought and memories. You could parse the Radiolarian fluid apart, you couldn't do so with the witness, if i understand correctly.
Maybe it's not the Vex that were created by the precursors. But maybe it's just Vex tech that was found and used by them. Perhaps the Vex interacted with our reality before the Crota stuff. Maybe Echoes will explain the Glass Minds more. I think it's definitely Vex but the Vex seem to be older than the Precursors
And what of the possibilities trimmed? The ones deemed unlikely, or weak with possibility? My questions would be WHO or what determines this trimming? What are these Glass Minds? A.I. of some description? what is their criteria? And if these precursors created both the Observatory and the Glass Minds, then there is the over arching question as to why? Nope, we know that the Vex were created prior to the beginning of the universe. They are entirely more advanced and existed long before the precursor species of the Witness.
Tbh, I like this retcon of them rather than the "Crota fucked up" scenario, makes them more interesting. Volt of glass Glass Throne ??
3:00 is that space engine?
Glass minds could literally be other vex that worked with atheon
Precursor Vex
Nope, the Vex were created prior to the existence of the universe itself. They are far, far older than the witness and its species.
wasnt there a d1 exotic called the glasshouse? is it relevant to this?
Witness is one of his species who chose not to become vex he saw a different final shape? Theory.
What if the vex are what happened to the precursors that did not want to merge
Is it possible that the veil is the glass thingamabob.. .
The black heart was an attempted copy of it wasnt it? And isnt the veil sonewhat linked to all universal memory or sonething like that? Just sounds similar in a way.
The vex is my favorite part of destiny
I like curse of Osiris but I was a newlight infinite forest Halloween was awesome way better than that crap we get now
If they created them then I hate that. I can’t wait for this villain to be out the way. Thats just me tho
I think its more likely they somehow domesticated/enslaved some vex, and not have created the entire species
I hope to god the vex weren’t made by the precursors…
Nope, we know that the Vex were created prior to the beginning of the universe. They are entirely more advanced and existed long before the precursor species of the Witness.
All of this has happened before and all of this will happen again, wait wrong fiction😂
This makes no sense. Canonically, the Vex existed before light and dark.
Not really, Unveiling says they were created during the Gardener’s and Winnower’s “Scuffle”. Light and Dark already existed in a “form” then.
@@ringomandingo1015 you’re right. I’ll rephrase. They existed prior to the creation of the universe. So prior to the precursors.
Tbh, I like this retcon of them rather than the "Crota fucked up" scenario, makes them more interesting. Maybe the Glass Mind was a multi-purpose system, the central power having many sub-uses just like the vex nowadays have multiple minds and subminds. If that holds truth to the theory, maybe in the future on another DLC or D3, we'd get to delve deep into the Vex worlds. Let's not forget we have the Glassway area with the portal Clovis Bray built specifically to infiltrate a Vex Planet he called a 'Forge World.' a Planet that was LITERALLY completely converted to the Vex's work.
If any alien race that we have had contact with since vanilla destiny had ties to the Witness, the pyramid ships would have been here on day 1.
Lost me when I spent 70 bucks on a game. Then waited 2 years for a a meaningful DLC for it to be free to play micro transaction hell.
I avoid bungie games like the plague now
The vex are (were) human and the witness created the vex thus we have Prometheus. (Deal with it) I said it…. 😂
Dude coming back to a lore video like 6 years after I stopped playing and holy cow am I glad I stopped. Like half of this lore is literally quantum jargon gibberish. Literally doesn’t mean anything just word salad. Sad
Ok and? Leave
