A perfect demonstration of how thinking differently, changing the potting angle and front of a tree can make it appear so much more beautiful! At first I wasn’t too keen on the semi-cascading design but when you flipped it round and changed the design into a curving, question mark-shaped tree the beauty of literati presented itself! Thank you Peter!
From my point of view, the literati style reveals the true potential of the bonsai artist. Here, Peter shows how to think, then rethink using the imagination of a great artist. This bonsai tree is absolutely fantastic: simple, elegant, beautiful, graceful, thought provoking.
I was not in love with the first option after wiring. However, it was amazing to see how leaning and rotating the tree created a wonderful second option. Just like life, it is all a matter of perspective. Thank you.
Thank you for your video. About the direction of the wire: it is not just about personal preference. It depends on the direction the wired branch will be bend since the wire will either tighten up or opening up dependending on which way you take the bend.
Hi Peter, Thank you for this wonderful presentation! Recently i have discovered your channel and have learned so much about bonsai from your video's. I hope you will have a wonderful Sunday With love from the Netherlands
Love the shirt! I've got a macrocarpa that I grew from seed, although it hasn't really grown much and is very leggy (it's in a pretty big pot too!) I was planning on growing it big, but I think perhaps it may be worth going down the bonsai route instead 🤔
I like the final result Peter it looks a bit different from the usual cascade, also giving an image of literati styling too, two for the price of one springs to mind, a lot of people who don’t know you better would have not bothered with it and go so far as to say it is a rubbish piece of material with no future, that is not your way is it you find the good in everything. Thank you Peter and Josh for another useful video.
Please don't ever apologise Peter every minute of footage you give us is valued highly
I am a complete newcomer to bonsai but I have been watching you for years off and on. That was lovely to watch and it suddenly became so beautiful.

Stunning and magical. Thank you for thinking out loud. You are a great teacher.

I love that style, it's beautiful that way.
I love watching you work! And your commentary while doing so is so helpful...THANK YOU!!!

Reminds me of that Monty Python joke:
Brian to the crowd:
- We're all different!
One man in the crowd, gingerly:
- I'm not
😆😆😆
🤪me neither.
Thanks for all your guidance, I’ve been shaping my weeping Japanese maple for 3 years now and it’s grown into a nice tree.

Beautiful!!! 🌱🪴🌲

Why split?
VERY GOOD. 👍👍👍
Обычно, когда раскалывают ствол, его обматывают рафией, а потом накладывают проволоку. Вы считаете, что обматывать рафией не обязательно?
For thinner trunks I dont bother
Hilarious 😂
