Whether you love or hate JK Rowling, the game has nothing to do with her and she’ll be insanely rich whether it sells gagillions or didn’t exist. Play the game if you want to play it, don’t if you don’t. Simple as that. Personal choice.
@@odetojamie without looking it up, tell us in great detail how JK Rowling "harmed" trans people, that doesn't involve her simply giving an opinion on a very debatable subject that People just didn't wanna hear.
The problem is that controversy when it gets out into the mainstream like this often ends up selling the games far more than if there hadn't been that controversy. The closest action we've gotten with games fundamentally changing was in the 1990s-2000s when we saw Congress, politicians, etc. try to legislate games out of existence (the whole "violence in video games" controversy). The actual real threat of the bans from those with power to do so that could kill the companies' main line of business (and also cemented Nintendo's direction choices) did actually force games to change (a lot). (E.G. The "national dex" controversy with Pokemon Sword/Shield.)
America supposedly has freedom of speech, yet people go on the attack, and want to cancel anybody with a different opinion than them. I want to buy this game even more now that I know this woman has the courage to speak her mind knowing a small but LOUD group of people will cause an outrage throughout social media. Screw those people, nobody should be catering to them. I hope this game becomes a huge success.
True. There are bigger things to worry about. There's rich parents that would buy kids plastic surgery. Now there's parents who pay to change their sex cuz. Some the kids grow up miserable n regret their life cuz the parents did the sex change.
No. It's because it can help to change the world. It's people or nations coming together for a common cause. We have seen this happening throughout history and have changed the geopolitical landscape hundreds of times. This is ultimately about human rights.
@spacecookieofsweden5399 Other countries are laughing at Americans. Bunch of clowns playing pretend. You ain't changing or putting your Western ways on others. So stop trying. Halloween isn't 24/7
@@systerkeno I'd say you're both kind of right. Cancelling and boycotting things can make positive change sometimes, but I'd imagine most people on twitter trying to do that are really just doing so because they want to feel like they're making a difference and helping the world, even if they aren't always. People don't tend to think much about it. They jump on the cancel/boycott bandwagon without really looking into both sides or doing research themselves. Which I think is a pretty strong sign that they usually aren't actually very concerned about finding the right course of action, they just want to feel like they're doing the right thing, without having to put in the work to actually make sure they're doing so.
@RGT85 The same argument you make about JK already being paid already can be said of the workers as they have already been paid. Boycotting of a game like this really only hurts the ceos, execs and shareholders that reap all of the profits once the game is released. Those are precisely the people you want to impact if you don't want them making further deals with people you find problematic.
I’m not a huge Harry Potter fan myself, but I can’t lie, the game looks phenomenal. Oh my gosh, we need an X-Men game like this, where you can create own mutant, that would be so dope.
I have spent thousands with this company and have been a loyal customer for around five years. I have defended them many times when people have criticised the quality of products, waiting times, or customer service. This is indefensible. They caved to a hate mob of a handful of angry activists and sacked one of their employees because she follows a few conservatives on twitter and posted a benign tweet seven years ago that 99.9% of people would agree with. We all know that such wrongthink is verboten in the eyes of the cancel culture mob, but it’s disappointing to see Limited Run take their side and throw their own employee under the bus.
@@ShiroiKatana and this is why I hate social media most of the time, political crap in gaming, political crap in the work place, and because one or two people who obviously likely don’t even support said company complains to get someone fired for something they said years ago invoking their own personal beliefs. The person worked hard, did their job, but because a few woke crybabies complain about something “non work related” about this person they get fired. I don’t care if your a democrat, Republican, independent, or whatever else, but as long as they do their job and not doing something criminal they shouldn’t be fired. Now any posts on tweeter or Facebook they won’t allow comments, but when people speak with their money they’ll learn a deep lesson.
@odetojamie I'd suggest that simply ignoring the handful of perpetually-offended activists would have a minimal effect on your business and might even help it as people would be glad to support a company that stands up to them for once. By caving to the hate mob, they're more likely to have lost the majority of their faithful customers, if the thousands upon thousands of responses are anything to go by. Or, if you want the TL;DR - "Go woke, go broke."
Not buying the game doesn't really hurt Rowling she's still going to be crazy wealthy. Attacking fans for being excited doesn't do anything to her it just hurts fans.
to be fair politics has been in gaming for a long time. FF7, Metal gear, mass effect, and many more literally spew political commentary onto you without you even knowing, but in a reasonable digestable manner. Hogwarts legacy is only being criticized because JK rowling cant keep her mouth shut and came out as a TERF. I think a lot people today don't realize a lot of iconic films and books were made by authors/directors who have pretty disgusting political affiliations (promoted racism, eugenics, homphobia, etc.). Its just that in today's world its amplified by 10,000 because social media is able to reach more and more people. I love a lot of charlie and the chocolate factory, but if you think I agree with Roald Dahl views of jewish people or his promotion of children suicide or his racist past you have another thing coming.
I feel the same. JK has said a lot of stuff I don't agree with, but she is an amazing author who created an entire universe that will be here long after she and many of us are gone. Leave people who grew up loving Harry Potter alone and let them enjoy her work
Truuuuuth. She definitely has some screws loose, but she is a good writer at the end of the day. Harry Potter has always been about escapism. Seeing videos like this make me glad I got rid of Twitter over a year ago. In all honesty, buy the game if you want it, don't buy it you don't. At the end of the day, pointless arguments on social media aren't going to change someone's mind.

"We're not gonna go into JK Rowling's beliefs" Dawg, said beliefs are literally one of the main reasons why the game is being boycotted. You can't just ignore a part of the topic if the part is pretty much crucial to the discourse.
People getting offended by opinions is getting old. We went from "lets agree to disagree" to "NO AGREE OR BE CANCELED!!" The games looks fun. That's all I care about. What the creators do or say has nothing to do with me.

The "horrendous" thing she said was in response to women being referred to as "people who menstrate" which upset her as it was erassing what it is to be a woman in her mind. And that is it. It is ridiculous that there is so much crap being given to a woman who had the "audacity" to say "only women menstrate".
J. K. Rowling only speaks the truth. Most people outside San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York also agree with her. I for one will not be boycotting this game.
I had multiple fallouts with people on Twitter because I and many others are looking forward to the game. As a part of the LGBTIAQ+ community, just like many others, imagine my Pikachu face when I was told to leave the community for I am an anti-semitic, racist, transphobe bigot, and a traitor to the cause. Sharing your excitement has become practically a no-no, since people will flood your tweets with: "You're supporting the TERF!", followed by insults and allegations until you are screenshotted, blocked and exemplified, often taken completely out of context. It's ridiculous. I fight for trans-rights all day long, yet all of it seems to ne nullified vecause I'm spending 80€ on a game that uses a franchise that is far greater than its original author, who is already loaded for 20+ lifetimes. We are all part of the capitalist system, where ethical consumption is just absolutely impossible. Every second we spend on this platform, on the internet, on our mobile/technical devices someone gets money from us who profits from the suffering of people. Our phones are made through child labor, our clothes in sweat-shops. Too many companies outsource their work for luxurious items that are made as cheap as possible and the people who are forced to work in these factories barely make enough money to make sure they have one meal a day. But if you point this out, they argue that those are things they don't have any control over, which is just another way of pushing away their own responsibities, while we're supposed to accept ours (Which most of us do.). There are so many fronts where a battle against capitalism and transphobia should be fought, yet these IDIOTS chose a video game like the next conservative Karen who blurts out: "BAN VIDEO GAMES FOR THEY PROMOTE VIOLENCE!" I've seen people screaming: "If you buy the game: F*ck you!" "If you buy the game just unfollow immediately, for I do not feel save around you!" "Just pirate the game, the devs have already been paid!" (Dumbest argument, as if their work is done, just because the game is getting sold, there are updates and fixes to be made, additional content, etc.!) It is tiring and I'm trying to ignore these wanna-be warriors, but damn, they're making it extremely hard to keep a positive attitude towards them. If you use insults, bullying, threats and spreading of misinformation to fight for the safety and well-being of people, you seem to have missed the point of the whole operation by a hypocritical amount, especially when you fight against your own comrades like they are your nemesis. I am feeling second-hand embarassment on a daily basis now and I wonder what Rowling and her biggot friends are profiting off more in the long run: Another few millions on their MOUNTAIN of money, or the community tearing itself apart?! Many say money. I say: If the people fight among themselves and become scattered, the battle is lost immediately. Seriously. As if insulting, harrassing an threatening people has EVER worked in changing the mindset of people. I can't believe that they honestly think that this tactic is going to help them in achieving their goal. If they at least chose a more diplomatic strategy, but no, let's make enemies where there aren't any. I'll buy and enjoy the game. And I'll try to forget these stupid, moronic idiots that drive a bigger wedge between us than Rowling ever could. The irony? The numbers of purchases went UP. It is one of the most anticipated games ever. And they don't even realize that they have contributed to that. The STUPIDITY of mankind. Seriously, I can't...

I have been a fan of HP since the first movie came out when I was 6. I saw every movie in theaters and read all the books in elementary school. I am now 27 and not long ago got the Dark Mark tattoo. I am one of those people you were talking about that found comfort in Harry Potter because of my life growing up. I am getting a PS5 so that I don't have to wait till July to play it on my Switch. I mean I needed a newer console, but finding out I would have to wait just solidified my decision to get the PS5 sooner rather than later. I have no problems with those that don't want to support it because I can understand why. I am not okay with the things Rowling said. So either way a person wants to decide is okay with me.
Me neither. I think most normal people who denounce her have just heard others describe her as the most vile and disgustingly hateful person and believe it on face value. That was the case for me and when I actually read what she said I was like "Wait that's it? All the outcry over this?"... The world is dumb.
I still have no clue what all the controversy is about. I’ve seen a couple of videos, and no one ever quotes anything she said. Similar to the Limited Run thing with people labeling someone due to someone they follow or watch. It’s so dumb. News flash: probably 99% of people you enjoy have a view or views you don’t agree with. In fact, you should want it that way.

I just never liked Jk but I love the world she made got me through alot I have known this franchise 21 years of my life since I was 6 years old when I saw the first movie in theaters in 2001 and cried when it ended in 2011 . I grew up on the movies and books and I always dreamed of a hp game that was this so I'm getting the deluxe edition next month
Harry Potter has a lot of very close similarities to Neil Gaiman's Book of Magic series, which came out years before Harry Potter. Here are not well written and redundant of older writings by other authors.
I'm with J.K. Let her feel the way she feels. She isn't going after anyone for her belief system and these people are doing is bullying others. When it comes to bullies, I'll always be against them.
I find it fascinating what people choose to fight for. Like... I'd argue that MOST people are against sweatshops in 3rd world countries....but most people "ignore" how much of their clothes and tech are made in those countries....and will focus their attention on what a celebrity believes or doesn't believe in a random topic.
As a trans person myself I do agree with a lot that was said here, it’s a lot of the same mindset I’ve had with the game recently. The studio behind this game seems extremely talented and if it shapes up to what the previews and trailers make it out to be it’ll be something very special.
The combat looks fun, I hope they can balance it so it won't be too hard or too easy. It doesn't look like it was made for PvP which is already obvious because this is single player, but I hope in the future if this game got sequel they will try to do that, like doing Co-op and PvP would be so much fun with this much of customization options.
Pretty good take RGT. JK Rowling hasn't even said anything controversial, she's stated some facts, stood up for womens rights (the horror!), not spread any hate but has received torrents of abuse, doxxing and death threats in return from the very same 'innocent' people she allegedly hated on. Funny how all these media sites and 'journalists' always forget to mention the abuse and threats she has received, almost like it's on purpose... I love JK Rowling, she's conjured up a beautiful world, sticks up for what she believes in despite the misinformation and hate campaign by the blue check marks on Twitter and western media who generally all have the exact same opinion on these issues.

The ones who play it in secret deserve to be sent to azkaban lmao 🤣😂😅. Just play the game folks and dont be ashamed of it. I'll never let any news or political stuff affect my entertainment 🤣😂😅😁.

People pushing a boycott is absolutely ridiculous and just backfires anyway, with the Streisand Effect.
Whether you love or hate JK Rowling, the game has nothing to do with her and she’ll be insanely rich whether it sells gagillions or didn’t exist.

Hogwarts Legacy is going to be awesome.
Just remember, when somebody points a finger there's three pointing straight back at them.
What 'national dex controversy'?
Me too! Righteous statement I agree
Kanye a great example 😐
Amen
I think most people that want to cancel people and things just do it because their life is unfulfilled and doing this gives them some power in life.
@@systerkeno Yep. And JK Rowling isn't against human rights. Limited Run Games definitely is though.

I’m not boycotting this game just because rowlings has a different opinion than me.
I’m not a huge Harry Potter fan myself, but I can’t lie, the game looks phenomenal. Oh my gosh, we need an X-Men game like this, where you can create own mutant, that would be so dope.
Speaking of boycotts, I wonder if you’ll talk about the Limited Run Games situation? Because I’d like to hear about your opinion on this hot topic.
I thought that this what the video was about tbh. I didn't know there was prior drama
Oh I'm done giving them my money. I'll just buy the games digitally
Yeah this boycott backfired hard. I just wish we could leave politics out of gaming altogether.
to be fair politics has been in gaming for a long time.

There are so many fronts where a battle against capitalism and transphobia should be fought, yet these IDIOTS chose a video game like the next conservative Karen who blurts out: "BAN VIDEO GAMES FOR THEY PROMOTE VIOLENCE!"
I've seen people screaming: "If you buy the game: F*ck you!" "If you buy the game just unfollow immediately, for I do not feel save around you!" "Just pirate the game, the devs have already been paid!" (Dumbest argument, as if their work is done, just because the game is getting sold, there are updates and fixes to be made, additional content, etc.!)
It is tiring and I'm trying to ignore these wanna-be warriors, but damn, they're making it extremely hard to keep a positive attitude towards them.
