Day one when Switch came out I thought they should make it for Switch. I have been waiting years. This is my dream coming true. Yes I will buy this ASAP.
I love the little "stories" that happen in this game, stuff that doesn't even impact the overall plot. Like this one time, I rode up this hill to see the spectacular sunset just bursting through the clouds, god rays going everywhere, the entire scene bathed in orange-red light...and then my horse and I got killed by a cougar.
The Oled on this game is amazing The night sky is definitely improved the stars are actually different colors now instead of a white glow or blue it’s actually pretty impressive they managed to upgrade everything (to an extent) on a switch buttons and everything feels way more responsive than the Xbox 360 console as well I’d say
I also bought it day one. I never had the chance of playing it on the 360 so being able to finally play it on the switch in such good quality is amazing. For me it is worth every dollar
Sounds like a good game. Thanks for the review RGT. My problem however is time. I have a big pile of games, mostly AAA titles, which I did not play through due to lack of time. So with a few exceptions, I do not pre order games anymore, Instead I wait for then to drop in price, because they would end up on the not played yet pile too. Alas waiting too long can mean the physical game will be not available anymore. Tricky. I worry the switch successor gets released and the pile has not been reduced significantly.
I am stuck in this cycle also. I have hundreds of physical games and most retailers don’t get a big run on even some AAA titles, and if it’s a low print game they may not have any copies at launch unless someone preorders. I buy the ones I know I want to check out as they are released or shortly thereafter and it ends up going on the backlog or played for a few hours before moving on to the next title. Switch is going to be evergreen for a while we will have time to catch up over time or else die trying 😂

This is actually a pretty good release for Switch, people are hating on the game on principle because it's not advertised as a remaster... but for all intents and purposes... this IS a remaster by Nintendo's standards when it comes to their remasters most of the time (excluding Metroid Prime remastered).
Just bought physical copy and loving it. Plays great and the whole game including dlc run off cartridge so no downloading required other than a 233mb patch. I’m happy about that and worth it alone to not to be connected to Rockstar launcher to play it like pc and console Rockstar games. You just put game in switch and just loads the game and plays. Now Rockstar needs to bring Max Payne 3 and GTA 4 as this game using same game engine and should be able to be ported to switch easily
I bought this game yesterday and my son was playing it after it was finished downloading. He was having fun playing it & he hasn't had run into any problems while playing the game. The only thing we saw that was funny was in the beginning when you enter the saloon and the guy that was sitting in the chair all of a sudden was standing on the chair. I do agree that $50 is a bit much for the game but it also comes with a DLC so I wasn't really looking at a gift horse in the mouth you know. I saw my fav UA-camrs play RDR 2 and I never saw the first one so, I didn't even know when the first one came out until you said when it came out but nonetheless, my son had no problem with the gameplay, no problem with the controls & the graphics look great to me & my son. If the 2nd one ever decides to come to the Switch, I am going to get it with no hesitation. I still say that 50 is a bit much, but then again you are getting a DLC with it.
Seventh gen graphics on a portable system is perfectly fine actually. Just that the price of these newly released games that are actually ports of old games doesn't sit well with some consumers.
I missed out on most of the 7th gen, so I never played a lot of great games from the Xbox 360 and PS3 eras. The fact the Switch is more powerful than those two and I can take it anywhere with me still blows my mind. I'm getting Red Dead Redemption and Batman: Arkham Trilogy. My first port I ever bought for my Switch was Assassin's Creed: The Rebels Collection. I loved playing Black Flag! Some minor glitches but still impressed me graphically. We need more 7th gen games (excluding Wii's library) ported on the Switch. I wish Konami ports Metal Gear Solid 4 and Namco ports Tekken Tag Tournament 2 on the Switch. I'm checking people's favorite 7th gen games and Red Dead Redemption and one of the Batmam Arkham games are up there. I know the 7th gen isn't the most popular gen. The 6th gen and even the 4th are still far more beloved. A lot of folks listed Uncharted 2 and The Last of Us. Damn. Intially PlayStation exclusives (and later available to PC) since they were by Naughty Dog. Switch will never get that or Heavy Rain. Oh well, we can't get them all. The fact we're still getting Red Dead Redemption and Batman: Arkham Trilogy still makes it worth getting a Switch which I believe is the GOAT Nintendo console ever made surpassing the beloved NES, SNES, and GameCube. Now I need a Twilight Princess port!
I didn't wait for anyone else's opinion. I dropped the $50 on release day. I've never played it, but loved RDR2, so I was very excited to have a chance to play RDR on Switch. So far it's been an amazing experience and I do not regret my purchase at all!

@@DublinJimmy80no its not. You are really underestimating people who didnt game much in the PS360 era. I was in my late teens early 20s and mostly played on handhelds and otherwise did other things than gamimg. Also it was a crisis back than it was expensive for a lot of people that is why the Xbox 360 sold more than PS3 initially as it was cheaper. I think you are just spoiled. Hey RGT, I really liked RDR2 and the open world and it’s what inspired me to buy BoTW which is now my favorite game with ToTK both of which I wouldn’t have gotten if not for RDR2. I am really happy that RDR1 is on the switch and I want to get it but honestly I’d rather wait some time for the price to drop and then I’ll get the game digitally. I really wish this game had online because that was something I didn’t get to do much of in the 2nd because I didn’t have game pass for a while but then I got it and I really enjoyed it. When do you think the price will drop?
I would definitely wait for a price drop compared to rdr2 is very simple in mechanics graphics and audio but the story is fantastic and still loads of fun
I’ve got it. It’s honestly amazing in handheld and it runs amazingly. If you want wait till the physical release October 13. Batman Arkham trilogy also comes out October 13 you could grab both lol. Amazing games
$50 back in 2010 with inflation is about $70 now, so the fact that we get a really high quality game with some touched up graphics, improved resolution, zombies included, and can play it on TV or portably for that same old price…is a good value. Good feedback, Shawn.
So happy to hear another person be happy about it, my girlfriend is beginning a snob and keep saying it looks and run bad compared to palystion or whatever, I'm just going to inogor all the haters and get this game
It’s obviously better resolution than the 360 for a start! you only have to look it up, it said on the description 1080p for Switch which is an upgrade the Switch handheld version is better then the 360
Playstation 4 Pro and 5 run the game with FSR2 and it looks nice compared to the Series X back compat version. One thing I thought was cool is back in they day when it first came out there were cheat codes that you had to do Rockstar challenges to obtain. this version of the game has all of them preloaded in the options menu and others my favorite being the one punch knock out cheat.
@@jamescm38 you're welcome. I remember originally to unlock this cheat you had to go to every bar in the game and knock someone out to unlock it. But this info wasn't in the game you had to have a rockstar social club account and look up challenges online.

Awesome stuff RGT 85. I am so glad that RDR1 is a good Port on the Switch plus Looks n Runs great aswell. Yh it's probably more of an Enhanced Port, than a Standard or Remastered Port.
Gta trilogy remake was done by a different company than rockstar, they didn’t take there time with this one it’s just a port no upgrades and missing the multiplayer
Also, i used to play poker on this game for many many hours on end. Not kidding. Its my favorite way to play poker honestly and now i will be playing poker for many more hours on the switch now. Im so hyped
I’m glad to see someone praising the port for what it is and not just jumping on the hate/boycott bandwagon. I love Red dead, and not excusing rock* for any of their shadiness or greed, multiplayer SHOULD HAVE absolutely been available and $50 is rather steep. But barring any significant performance issues, there’s no way I was not going to pick this up just to play RDR in handheld.
I'm planning on picking it up but I think I want to wait for a sale.
The best Nintendo UA-camr never disappoints.
I'm going to get the physical version when it gets released in October.
Same. I already preordered it. 😎
13 years later rockstar could’ve used all this time to remaster the game
I’ve always wanted to play this again on a portable console and I’m really happy that I can now
I bought it, I already have the Xbox version but I couldn’t pass up a chance to play it portably.
GTA 4 and (completely unrelated) Oblivion NEED to come to switch.
I bought it as its one of my favorite games, its so fun and well done. Cant wait to play it on my flight to Michigan tonight
Oh man, I’m excited for you! You’re gonna have a great flight!
Okay i am buying it tomorrow is a travel day for me too...
Does it have online?
the cool thing is maybe its possible we see GTA IV on switch also
True because its the best selling game now I have one but I need new joycon mine is old now and the rubber tear off
There's absolutely no excuse for KH1 and KH2 to be cloud only games. That would've been an instant buy for me if they had physical copies.

If you really want your mind blown, then get Steamdeck or ROG Ally.
You need to check out the Crysis games and Dying Light. Yeah, I know Dying Light is a PS4/Xbox One game, but it is probably the Switch's best port.
Blows your mind to have this 13 year old game on a switch? Your mind is easily blown my friend 😉
The only thing is the price but overal its great you can take these games with you just as reading a Book.
@@DublinJimmy80that’s not even remotely close to what he said 🥴
I downloaded mine last night but I want to finish TOTK first and I'm at Gannon 🙏🏽
Props to you for not doing what dreamcast guy did and and playing the game and giving actual thoughts. Love your stuff man, keep it up
I dont think dreamcast guy even plays games at all most of what he says sounds like regurgitated crap spewed in reddit or message boards
He is Just a Nintendo hater
Oh boy...rgt 85 vs dreamcast guy in a cage match this Saturday ON THE SPAWNCAST!!!!!
Nice
Give it a year
I would definitely wait for a price drop compared to rdr2 is very simple in mechanics graphics and audio but the story is fantastic and still loads of fun
I’ve got it. It’s honestly amazing in handheld and it runs amazingly. If you want wait till the physical release October 13. Batman Arkham trilogy also comes out October 13 you could grab both lol. Amazing games
@@Ihatevideogames334 bro then go read a book, you hate so much games but watch videos talking about how there good
Yep. Downloading on my switch now. Was waiting for your take
Thank U RGT! I always love your honest reviews and keep up the great work! I'll definitely be pickin up the physical version come Oct. 13.
I still wonder why this wasn't announced in a Nintendo direct.
$50 back in 2010 with inflation is about $70 now, so the fact that we get a really high quality game with some touched up graphics, improved resolution, zombies included, and can play it on TV or portably for that same old price…is a good value.
Good feedback, Shawn.
Shill
So happy to hear another person be happy about it, my girlfriend is beginning a snob and keep saying it looks and run bad compared to palystion or whatever, I'm just going to inogor all the haters and get this game
Playing this game on the switch oled has been a real treat! It looks and runs great!
Yo get some help my dude
I did notice a hiccup on my game at one point after I got off my horse my player continued to run and wouldn’t stop.😂
I will pay u to see that on a video 😂
One of my all time favorite games and i had no problem paying $50 for it.
A 13 year old game being the best looking game on the Switch pretty much sums up the Switch.
Can't wait to finish the vid to see what RGT thinks about the Switch version! :) Edit: Nice little video on this game RGT. I played through 2 but didn't own a 360 so I missed out on this one over the years. Cool!
I'm still not pay 50 dollars for a 13 year old game.
I did for the gta trilogy
@@depressedsauce2898 good for you
Portability of it make it worth it for me. And I never neat it originally..I'm def coppintlg it
Then don't,that simple
I'm a "patient" gamer and there's plenty of triple A titles i haven't played from years back. Plus i got the OLED Switch so i can't wait to see how good it looks . I don't mind paying 50.
Right now İ will not pick it up but İ am very happy to see this big game on the Nintendo Switch.
One thing I thought was cool is back in they day when it first came out there were cheat codes that you had to do Rockstar challenges to obtain. this version of the game has all of them preloaded in the options menu and others my favorite being the one punch knock out cheat.
Such a cool piece of info. Thank you for posting this!
@@jamescm38 you're welcome. I remember originally to unlock this cheat you had to go to every bar in the game and knock someone out to unlock it. But this info wasn't in the game you had to have a rockstar social club account and look up challenges online.
@@ACasualGamer-OBR you’re bringing the memories back. I remember just getting used to online function in video games, logging into the social club and figuring out they were objectives for in game rewards. Such a surreal experience back then. I’m glad I can live in an age where I can relive this game on the go now. Deleting Call of Juarez and OddWorld Strangers Wrath 😂
That IS cool!
It works and is portable. I wouldn't be complaining
The physical will be a day 1 purchase for me.
Good to hear I’m picking this up in October for sure!
I wanted this on Steam.
Bro loved this game on xbox360, 100% gonna pick this up this weekend. It's my birthday and I owe it to myself to get some good old nostalgia! I loved the undead nightmare. Wish rd2 had undead nightmare. But we'll hand to wait
The big issue it's about praising minimal effort and the praise from influencers and sale only help to let them know that it's perfectly fine to keep doing this.
How is it lazy to port a game everyone wanted on switch to the switch. Doesn't make sense
Everyone wanted a remaster not just a lazy port
@@Doppo69 can't remaster a game on underpowered hardware
Awesome stuff RGT 85.
I am so glad that RDR1 is a good Port on the Switch plus Looks n Runs great aswell.
Yh it's probably more of an Enhanced Port, than a Standard or Remastered Port.
Im loving it on the Switch. If money is an issue for you i can understand waiting, but other than that its worth picking up now if youre a fan of it
Getting closer lol
Hopefully the physical release has the complete game on the cartridge.
1:42 Yuzu/Ryujinx on steam deck says hi....
Another awesome review, thanks RGT.
I just picked it up...and 3 weeks ago I bought the oled version of the switch. Can't wait to see rDR on screen...😊
The issue with the GTA trilogy was the lack of care and the rushed product. It's clear they took their time with this one.
Gta trilogy remake was done by a different company than rockstar, they didn’t take there time with this one it’s just a port no upgrades and missing the multiplayer
I'm picking up my copy later today😎
I’ve been playing it non stop. I couldn’t be happier with this on switch.
Some touchups and a remaster would have been nice but it doesn’t make or break any of it. I have no regrets so far and having a blast playing the game all over again.
All I need now is Fallout 3 or New Vegas, and Ocarina of Time to come to the switch and I'll be happy.
Definitely picking up a physical copy or two when released for the Switch. I already have 1&2 on PlayStation
