- Jorg Jaksche raced as a professional cyclist for over 10 years. He won some big races and contested the Tour de France six times. And he doped for his entire career.
He has explained his doping often and admits to cheating as a cyclist.
Jaksche began his career as a 20-year-old and, in this interview, he explains when he made the decision to cheat.
Now 40, Jaksche lives in Sydney.
In this long interview he talks about more than just doping but the that remains a central theme in most discussions with Jaksche.
(For more, see ridemedia.com.au)
I wish the interview was a lot longer. Thank you Jörg Jaksche for being so candid :-) Cheers!
Great interview. I always liked the guy. He is not hiding from his own responsabilities. Chapeau Jörg Jasche.
Just arrived in my UA-cam recommendations 6 years afterwards! Great interview
Thoroughly enjoyed that. Great interview.
Neil Walters thanks a lot.
@@ride-media could you just give me an email from him an society email or something our school journey want to have an interviewe with him. Big love to this account♥️
A beautiful intelligent explanation of his cycling world. The best wishes always to Jorg. Great guy.
Great interview, Jörg - very sympathetic. All the VERY-VERY BEST to you. You are still a GORGEOUS rider!
Really interesting the last few minutes when he talks about the Beloki incident. That was such an iconic stage during that era.
Great questions. Thanks for the answers Jorg.
Great interview. I always liked Jörg Jaksche as a pro racer, and I still like him ! I think it was not easy for him to admit doping, to move forward his past and not become bitter...
Gotta love the Aussie candid interview style, it speaks perhaps to JJ's open and insightful perspective - thanks guys much appreciated..."I pay u to ride not think..."
Really intelligent interview, great to hear. Thanks for sharing!
Nice interview. Lot's of interesting questions were asked....
Haha. It was funny when he said the East Germans wrote everything down while they didn't in the West. He has a great feel for what is humorous, is a great story teller, and seems laid back.
Smart and funny guy! He has loads of great stories.
absolutely! I ride with him in junior times. When I rember, the first thing in my mind was his brace!^^ Always an open minded person, very aware and interested in many things outside cycling! A great teamplayer and finaly and thats a fact he`s being honest with himself....big respect nach Ansbach "JJ" oder wo du Dich auch immer gerade rumtreibst....
What a good, straight guy - thanks for your honesty Jorg! Lucky to be living in the city I grew up in - Godzone!
Good truth interview.
Nothing has changed though. More money than ever in it now.
Love the interview! Could you fix the camera position next time? The guy is facing left, but he's squished to the left side of the frame. Put him on the right side of the frame to make it feel more balanced.
Its more about what he is saying rather than how he looks saying it.
Keep these great interviews coming! Subbed
Great interview!!
Very honest account. It comes as no surprise to me as I have read all the 'confessional' books, and they all tell the same basic story. Professional cycling is controlled by team managers who cut the cake between themselves behind the scenes. It is, to be blunt, a stage managed farse designed to entertain the crowd and of course, sell lots of bikes. It is up to the individual to decide whether they want to believe the 'beautiful lie' or the 'ugly truth'. Ultimately, human nature is to blame. We would all secretly cheat to get ahead if we could. Depressing isn't it?
You are wrong. I wouldn't cheat to win. A very well known pro (famous even) told me Danny Pate was clean, and had a long professional ride at the top. Maybe he didn't win as much because he didn't cheat, but . . .
@@isitrachelorj3953 but WHAT???
imagine what is/was going on in football and every other major sport...
JJ throwing out the gold stories!
i started watching cicling in his era and im still a big fan of him and ullrich and klöden..
great interview
Thanks a lot.
Long form. One camera. Minimal editing...
Perhaps we'll make this the first of a series. What do you think?
Yup would love to watch a series. Stories from the peleton, any era, are always interesting imho.
Great interview! Would love to watch more
Rob, your content is so great. thank you
very interesting video! thanks - nice job
The questions I have as a spectator :
- Should I keep watching the Tour de France when everyone is cheating ? Or should I just accept it and enjoy it as it is ?
- If everyone is doping, does it mean that the winner would be the same as if no one was doing drugs ?
- What is the best result a clean rider can expect on the Tour de France ?
- I find the race for the general pretty boring sometimes, how much of a difference would make a clean Tour in terms of entertainement ?
Thank you.
-idk it´s up to you
-basicly yes more or less, some athlets respond better to drugs than others or can deal better better with side effects. some riders yolo it, some do just enough to have a decent chance to win.
-dead last, or just used to be burned off as a helper and expected to droped out.
-doping give you around 10-20% perfomance increase. so the tour whould be just a few km/h slower.
Has their been attempts of launching a new franchise? I'd be down for it . A bit like the NFL and its franchise system. Then we launch new races and distribute profits accordingly. Just unsure if I would make it clean or would allow doping and make it transparent.
1.- It's like watching a movie. It's all fake but maybe you enjoy it.
2- No
3.- Not in the 150 first.
4- I don't know. Nobody ever saw a Tour de France where more than 10% of the cyclists were clean.
Great interview, really enjoyed that. Anyone think he has more than a passing resemblance to Lance since he's gotten older, even his mannerisms seem similar
Sehr gutes Interview. Danke!
Thanks a lot.
Insightful!
I am very grateful for this Video. Jörg Jaschke is a witness of a sick society.
Thanks fot this
"Hu don'd rhide HA, HA, HA!!!" 😁😁😁
Among Russians who oppose the war in Ukraine, Tinkoff is respected for not supporting the war; this stance has costed him his business. It was interesting to learn about his management techniques. I expected it: his demeanor is brash even in Russian standards. Would not want to have him as a boss.
all professional Elite athletes are doped
No dope chance win a race, no good contract. I guess the last tour winner was Lemond who doesn't use epo.
15:30 he talks about lance a.
"Jan Ullrich is for example someone who had no problems with getting fat" #Ehrenmann
the fact that you redacted a name makes it all the more interesting...
Evan - it's pretty easy to lip read if you know the history. It's "out there"... but...
ridemedia haha... yeah, I figured it out but it was just funny to me. thanks for the interview!
After hearing all his explanations he is still a cheater.
Daniel De Feudis - if you listen, it’s clear that he’s not denying he cheated. Actually, that’s exactly what he’s saying.
nothing new the truth comes out after everyone has made their money first.
Bella
Actually there is a slight resemblance with Lance Armstrong haha... let's compare the faces... ^^
Manolo Saiz does not come out looking good from this interview.
The Young Upstart The ONCE team doctor was Sabino Padilla also involved with doping at Athletic Bilbao football club.
JORG ???? JORG??? WERE YOU TOO LAZY TO PUT AN Ö IN HIS NAME?
audio needs improvement. sounds like echo chamber
choski76 - sorry about that.
great cyclist
great Russian accent 😂
these dopers assets should be seized
1st
Not too difficult with our channel mate... it's no competitor to Cycling Maven.
(But thanks for the sentiment. Noted.)
ridemedia fuck Maven haha - he's annoying as fuck. This was a great interview, didn't want it to end. Keep um coming, mate. 👍🏼
