I think the whole idea is stupid, because it makes sense that women aren't naturally strong enough to even survive the procedures, BUT if they actually put women through the same procedure that the men go through, the whole genetic modifications etc, she'd probably start looking like this, no matter if she was ever beautiful. Look at female bodybuilders who took it too far. And Space Marines are definitely taking it too far. A sexy, slender woman would be highly unrealistic in the context. Suddenly the lore matters to them. Just like suddenly "realism" and "practicality" matter to (only female) characters. But the moment someone mention a gun is fired incorrectly or a vehicle is operated unrealistically, then suddenly "who cares, it's fiction, why so mad etc etc" start flooding your replies.
Y'know, I've never liked the smurfs, 40k would be many times better if the human side consisted only of the Imperial Guard. It's a lot more inspiring, says a lot about the human spirit, rather than some mutant who fell in a tank and then fell in another tank.
The real shame of this is that the Adeptus Sororitas were half a step below Space Marines, but they did it by force of will, faith in the emperor, and sheer grit. But now the women of 40k HAVE to be super special awesome and be at least as strong as the men, which also ignores characters like Amberley Vail, who's a really badass Inquisitor, among others.

Vee, technically it isn't a Space Marine, it's a Custodes (one of the Emperor's personal bodyguards). They were still said to be all male through the last 30 years of lore, and I'm certain that this is just them getting the foot in the door in order to create female Space Marines later on, but for now Space Marines are left as the only male-only faction in 40k where once there had been 2.
In not even a single piece of official Warhammer 40k Thousand material was it mentioned or even vaguely suggested that the Adeptus Custodes are comprised of both men and women. Not only that, but reminder that Games Workshop sells plastic miniatures as part of the Warhammer 40k tabletop game, to this day, not a single official sculpt/model of a female Adeptus Custodes has existed. But according to GW, Adeptus Custodes have always been both men and women, since the very start.
Bold strategy, Cotton, let's see how this plays out for them.
@@AnikiSkywrestler I know, it's a very recent change that they tried to slip in on the sly in the recent Custodes codex, which then became a nuclear event in the fandom when it reached Twitter. They've done nothing with it since until now, and the drama's flaring up again.
The worst part is that, while I still never would have accepted it because I know that the only reason for this change is to pander to leftist, they could easily have been so much smarter and non-lore breaking with how they introduced them.
But it's too late for that now. They're here, GW's doubling down, and they will likely be a gaping wound in the 40k fandom for years.

It's sad to me that GW can't be hurt by a general boycott nowadays. They're simply too big for it to work. Any attempted boycott must be targeted and specific. Warhammer+ and Custodes models themselves being the obvious targets.
Still, I just don't see any energy for boycotts, or ensuring that community displeasure is felt by the corpos, in almost any fandom anymore. Normies will just consume endlessly, and so many others seem so used to mediocrity that they won't even bother to complain as things continually get worse. It's pretty disheartening, honestly.

I think the whole idea is stupid, because it makes sense that women aren't naturally strong enough to even survive the procedures, BUT if they actually put women through the same procedure that the men go through, the whole genetic modifications etc, she'd probably start looking like this, no matter if she was ever beautiful. Look at female bodybuilders who took it too far. And Space Marines are definitely taking it too far. A sexy, slender woman would be highly unrealistic in the context. If men aren't able to do the job without being turned into hulking monsters, why would women? They should even give them weirdly deep voices, too, imo.

I know we be able create a very physically ugly female character that people loves, feel for (not necessary romantically), what to hang out with, think is a cool character.

Suddenly the lore matters to them. Just like suddenly "realism" and "practicality" matter to (only female) characters. But the moment someone mention a gun is fired incorrectly or a vehicle is operated unrealistically, then suddenly "who cares, it's fiction, why so mad etc etc" start flooding your replies.

Y'know, I've never liked the smurfs, 40k would be many times better if the human side consisted only of the Imperial Guard. It's a lot more inspiring, says a lot about the human spirit, rather than some mutant who fell in a tank and then fell in another tank.

The real shame of this is that the Adeptus Sororitas were half a step below Space Marines, but they did it by force of will, faith in the emperor, and sheer grit.
But now the women of 40k HAVE to be super special awesome and be at least as strong as the men, which also ignores characters like Amberley Vail, who's a really badass Inquisitor, among others.
