Gorbachev Discusses Russia's Path Toward Democracy

In an exclusive interview with RFE/RL's Russian Service, former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev spoke about the current state of Russian politics and Russia's progress toward democracy. Gorbachev's supporters praise the fact that his views about the collapse of communism and its aftermath have remained remarkably consistent since he left office in 1991. But many believe Gorbachev's condemnation of the Russian political system can't be reconciled with his praise of Putin.

Кто Вас свергнул и подставил пустыми прилавками , разворовал страну после купа тот и виноват во всех бедах россиян. Тогда Ф. вступил в Московское Яблоко и заручился поддержкой центра. Партию «слили». Митрохин указал Куперману, что лидер должен смениться. Виталий Ефимович сдался и ушел, и теперь Ося Бендер стал лидером местного отделения РОДП!

I am appaled to witness all the ignorance that presents all this misinterpreted, twisted and biased. Having those events watched -I admire the guts of ALL the people participating in it. Yes-even those communist oldtimers! It was confusing, but also uplifting, puzzling but unifying and most of all: LIVING! Not dead.chiselled in stone "truth" approved and accepted by minds who did not even understand what the events, decrees, movements meant.
