This story is a some what recent one that is a brain child of the dynamic duo of Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo. They worked together during the New 52 era at DC on the tile “Batman” which was a huge hit. Yeah it can be pretty hit or miss with people. I think if you at least have read the Morrison stuff in DC then you should be good!

I really enjoyed death metal more then the entire metal event so I hope we do get some type of Omni even tho all we may get is a absolute that’s been announced!

Very solid unbiased review bro. Love the artwork and yes some parts can getchu lost, but I still very much enjoyed it for sure.

I just for sure want to get across that this isn’t the best spot for starters of the hobby so people don’t spend money on something they will get lost in, but still enjoyed my experience!
What should I read before getting into this run?
Honestly it depends on what you currently know involving the DC universe.
Bare minimum I recommend at least knowing the Justice league and it’s members, a decent amount about hawkman and nth metal and how it effects the dc universe, as well as Grant Morrison and the stories he has told in the DC universe including his multiverse stories. Might benefit knowing some popular else world stories like dark knights returns as well for some of the minor details. It’s for sure not a story for new readers so I’d highly recommend brushing up on all that before the purchase unless you know a decent amount about that stuff already, in that case dive in!

Great review as always! Agreed that the price was way too high for this....there have been much larger omnis..from DC and Marvel that are at a price of $125...to $150. I have the absolute but when I read that, the story was so disjointed due the fact that the tie ins were not included....this one needs the tie ins in order to really enjoy the full story. I had to double dip and get the omni for this as it is such a pivotal story.

Found your channel recently and it's been a huge help to me getting into comics. Do you suggest pre reading for this book? Maybe like Snyder or morrisons batman runs?

I would recommend to read at bare minimum anything that Morrison has written for DC. This book dives deep into the multiverse as well as some carrying over themes and characters from some of his other stories. If you want to do the deep dive then brush up on hawkman and nth metal by reading the few runs he has, as well as Batman by Snyder and the Snyder Justice league run to at least understand the characters that will be playing major roles. But I think most things written by Morrison would be more then enough to understand the gist of the story.

I love Snyder and Capullo’s work but I am still on the fence about this one. I don’t know of all the multiverse stuff is something I like… The horror aspect is something that appeals to me. 🤔
This is very much involved with the multiverse and introduces yet another aspect with the dark multiverse so it may not be for you even tho it for sure has some horror elements as you stated! Might not be a bad idea to stick to a hard cover to get the event and skip the price tag!
