  • There is hot debate going on about the futility of some #exercises . Especially the strenuous ones. This controversy is because of lack of understanding about the published article in a #journal called #lancet Regional health - Europe in November 2023.
    The study showed, those who have an intermediate and strenuous exertion in their occupations from age 33 years to 65 years, have 15.5% chance of having #dementia & #mci - Mild Cognitive Impairment. #mildcognitiveimpairment as compared to those who have mild or #sedentary #sedentaryjobs who have 9% chance. But note that it is only in occupational physical activity, that too in those who constantly work, nonstop.
    Unfortunately medical news papers like #Medscape gave a headline: Not All exercise is Beneficial : The Physical Activity Paradox Explained. That has sent a wrong message to the public and even professional who just read the headline but not the contents.
    Exercise is different from Exertion. Constant exertion in middle age without rest leads to raised basal levels of cortisol and sympathomimetic hormones. That causes a raised basal #pulse rate and raised basal #bloodpressure #bp . This surely is deleterious for humans.
