To anyone who doesn't understand how massive the gap is between the G League and the NBA, here you go.
The gap is not massive, what this tells you is how stupid the Rockets coaching staff is for not giving him proper time. This moderator is an idiot who doesn't know any basketball for saying he is not a point guard.
@@guillermobarzana3648 The Rockets are top three in the west and two years ago were a total disaster, this coaching staff is amazing. Sheppard will get his chance, he's only 20 there are vets ahead of him.
And, yeah, deep bench NBA guys can go drop 50 balls in the G, the difference between the levels of the two leagues is hilariously big. Sorry.
@CM-ft9ep veterans that are playing like crap.
@CM-ft9ep The young guys like Thompson are the ones making the difference. Up until a few games back he wasn't playing whitmore either.
@CM-ft9ep The difference is opportunity. Sheppard is not going to score that much every time he is not that kind of player that is one game. He took 33 shots and 19 3's.
"What happens when you put a #3 pick in the G-League" - Scoot Henderson has left the chat
😂😅😂
Young players need to just avoid Rockets workouts at this point; Reed Sheppard, Cam Whitmore, Tari Easton and Amen thompson all struggling for minutes when they could get 30+mins on other teams.
What are you chatting about Fred is leaving next year he’s a rookie that looked horrible in the games he played
Amen is starting now, Tari was playing significant minutes until he was injured. Cam didn't play defense but is back in the rotation now. Sounds like you are not up to speed on the Rockets.
@@TandemKnights I hate how these ppl look at young players on the rockets have great games and immediately they say trade them or rockets are not letting them break out 😂if these young guys were all stars we would be 82-0
While I agree there is a gap, you can't expect much from Reed playing 5 minutes here and there. You need consistent time to build confidence. Nobody expects Rockets to bench FV for Reed. So, playing at the G-league will help Reed's confidence level.
My boy reed shepherd playing like he knows he’s just passing through lol you can see it in his game he playing like yea you like that I’m only going to be in town for a week lol 😂
Sheppard's problem (according to Ime Udoka) is that he's so deferential to his teammates that he ceases to have that aggressiveness that other players (i.e. Cam Whitmore) naturally have. Reed is an extremely self-aware player who knows the pecking order of the team and wants to play "the right way", even to his own detriment. That was leading to sporadic minutes behind a group that includes Van Fleet, Jalen Green, Amen Thompson, and Dillon Brooks (when they move him to shooting guard at times...). He's supposed to have two more games this week before being called back up to Houston on Sunday (because the Vipers are off for seven days after that....). It'll be interesting to see how he pans out in the coming years. Houston was either going to draft Sheppard or Steph Castle last summer and they bet on Sheppard's shooting and ability to run the offense in the coming years after Van Fleet leaves (he has a team option for next year...). So we'll see...
McClung
Funny how they have reed and whitmore. Complete opposites when it comes to being for the team
@@HighlightReelFactory Very true
The NBA is too quick for him at this time. He is rushing his shot just enough to effect his trajectory.
Exactly , but he is a fast learner
Udoka is a great coach and has done a fantastic job with the Rockets! However, Udoka has mis-handled Reed's development, maybe this 49 pt game will sound some alarm bells on the coaching staff.
Good work Mick!
You have clearly never seen him play, he is a really excellent defender. Ime Udoka is forcing Reed to be a spot up shooter, not his role, struggles. He is a PG.
Man they tried to give him touches even after blowouts reed didn’t perform well
Dude, Reed is a pure point guard with elite shooting ability. Have you watched many of his games before? Stop putting people into the stereotypical boxes. Watch some of his games before you blur half-baked take like this
His struggles is mental, and getting his confidence, he belongs at PG. Ime needs to play him at PG and players should set picks for him.
yes PG because of his height 6'3 is too short for shooting guard , Step is an exception , today shooting guard needs to be at least 6'5 , 6'6 is ideal, like Kobe, MJ, Mitchell,Clyde...
To be fair Cam Spencer had 51 in a G league game
“tO bE fAiR🤓☝️” no. He’s legit
@adripos but the point is, the G league, isn't. I like Sheppard. Just think G league isn't a true test, at all
Just Make stronger more to solve the 1v1 defense. It can let him stay on the court. Then, scoring, make assist, call tactics. PG position need play more and more games. Reed enrough smart, so he can do more things when he solve 1v1 defense problem. Reed will be a great shooter in future, but he not only a great shooter yet.
WOW...50pts(49)...6'1"...not good enough D? ...I have to leave this take. OUT
too short for shooting guard, unless he can turn into Nash
@@minhnguyen-mk9om heh...he is 6'3" If you shoot lights out you can be a shooting guard. He has the tools to be better than Nash with a ceiling of Stockton, but more athletics...better defender. I think he will be the Rockets future PG.
@@minhnguyen-mk9om heh...he is 6'3" If you are a good shooter you can be a shooting guard. He has the tools to be better than Nash with a ceiling of Stockton, but more athletic...better defender. I think he will be the Rockets future PG.
@@NOJSIP IF, you tell me any shooting guard out there that is 6'3 except Step Curry, good shooting guard or not 6'3 is too short for today NBA standard, dont get me wrong I like this kid, at least 6'5 to survive in the NBA
@@minhnguyen-mk9om Well TG the Rockets have Stone as their GM...lol
Like I said, I think he will be their PG...His high BB IQ and he is too good of a playmaker not to be their PG.
So.. he jimmer fredette
50 on g- league its 25 in the nba still above average
The problem the rockets have so much gaurds on there team so its hard for players like reed cam whitmore sometimes amen to get good minutes thats why he in the g in the first place
What do you think of Emoni Bates?
How good a fit would this guy be next to cade Cunningham? Hate the pistons btw except those Billups teams tht always made conf finals and even one it all one year. But this kid not to cade would be awesome.
What’s he doing in the g league?
All the same things were said about Curry.
He's too small, his ankles won't hold up, he can't guard bigger players. Not to say he's going to turn in to one of the greatest this league has ever seen, but he's also not the bust some people are calling him. There's not a doubt in my mind he's putting up 16-17 PPG on 40-45% from 3 on a bad team as the undisputed ROY.
I genuinely hope the Kings are taking a long look. Expiring FVV contract (he has a team option for next season, not a player), Cam, Reed, 1 PHX pick for Fox.
Cam could be a superstar in this league too. Could.
Players were allowed to discover themselves in Curry's time. Now the algorithm determines play style
yea, then he goes back to the NBA and smells the popcorn and can't play again.
Why not trade him for a 1st round pick or something.
No he wouldn't have gotten Rookie of the Year on the Wizards. Jordan Poole and Bilal would get majority of those minutes.
HE IS DOING SOMETHING BRONNY JAMES IS NOT DOING IN THE G LEAGUE
Bronny is playing extremely well in the g league. Right now in the regular Season in the g league that just started Bronny is leading his team in points, rebounds, assists and steals per game. He is shooting 42% from the field and 46.5% from three. So inform yourself a little better.
