Question for HR: "Jimmy, take a piece of paper, write it down and think about it if you have to. You are onboarding 10 new hires and then payroll is chasing you down for a time and attendance report, because pay date is coming wooo! All of a sudden, an employee bursts into your office and tattles on his two colleagues, saying he saw them in a heated argument in the lunch room and uttered death threats to each other. Then all of a sudden, a line manager calls you to tell you that one of his employees is having a seizure. What are you going to do 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and last? Give me the order first and then give me the rationale."
What you learn from this question: 1) can Jimmy prioritize multiple competing stakeholders 2) how Jimmy rank and justify importance of duties and 3) is Jimmy a good people person/team player and resourceful? If he is, he has no problem asking payroll to hold on, asking a colleague to take over onboarding for 20 minutes, etc.
Question for Programmatics: "Jack, take a piece of paper, write it down and think about it if you have to. What 8 steps are you going to take in order to run a successful programmatic campaign for the new Mercedes-Benz convertible? Give me the tools you would use. Give me 5 KPI's you are will use. Will you use private marketplace deals for this campaign, and why or why not?"
What you learn from this question: 1) did the candidate lie on his resume about his knowledge on programmatic marketing and 2) can they think big picture. If they can, they will start step 1 as asking for media plan from external client and last step as doing retargeting and tracking metrics.

Job interviews are hardly an accurate way to measure weather someone will be retained long term or not.
“Tell me why you want to work here?” A stupid question. Because I need money.

I wonder just how common these two questions are. Thankfully I've never been asked either. The questions are: If your a brick in the wall, what one are you? And; If you were an animal, which animal would you be and why? Then I wonder if they got those questions from kindergarten kids. There so damn stupid!

I think interview panels are useless and a waste of a company's time, money and resources. Think about it, 2-6 people all there to interview one person. One has to ask themselves the question who's looking after the place while this is all commencing? The secretary? or the janitor?
A company is paying 2-6 employees how much hourly to interview an individual that may or may not get the job or better yet have a different job offer and for what??? To do it all over again and for god knows how many times a day. It seems rather counterproductive and pointless. How many sit there and don't even say anything?
Let's face the facts there's only one calling the shots and that's the main the others are just there to fill seats and watch while your getting grilled by the main interviewer. It really makes the entire interviewing process very uncomfortable.
Having a panel just shows how incompetent the hiring manager/employer is when hiring employees to even remotely need one.
It takes 6 people to do the job of one. It reminds me of the "Peter Principal".

I have job interview few weeks ago for quite high level position. But that interview has drained my energy. It was so irritating and intimidating. All the questions are almost template. Fyuh, i guess no one will want to joint their company even from the first interview.
