- Installing the new Power Flip windshield from Can Am. It was quite a long process but well worth it!
Also a few of the SP Tools I used on this part of the build:

Did you ever trim the windshield for fitment with the intrusion bar mount? If so, do you have a photo of the finished project? Thanks.
I second this.
Sweet! Bring that thing over, I wanna go for a ride! and we need some time lapse clips for the work being done
Ive been wondering if I can keep my OEM mirrors and looks like you were able to? sweet
How did you manage to keep the rear view mirrors
How does it fit with the aluminum roof ?
Did you end up trimming the actual windshield or just the seal for the intrusion bar?
Just the seal
So getting ready to drop 1100 on the power flip...So now that you had it for a while would you buy it again? The only other option is going with is all glass brp setup in my opion...Or possibly bent metal....Thoughts would be greatly Appreciated....Thanks
Yes I’d buy it again in a heartbeat. The option to have it partially open is perfect
Okay sweet. Thanks for the replay.
Love the video
I have seen you and others install this windshield with the extrusion bars. Question is that no one has been able to answer is will the wiper kit fit in there with the extrusion bars installed. If you know please help answering, the hardware looks to not have the room
Do you drill from the inside of the cage to utilize the mirrors?
The hole was already there from where the mirrors would mount before, I just used a little longer bolt from the inside going out into the mirrors.
@Rustbelt Mechanic i did the same, i did not drill out though and use the spacers, i didn't think necessary using the mirrors larger mounting area
How did you keep the mirrors
I had just turned the two mount bolts for the frame around that utilized the same two mirror mount holes. The windshield bolts then held on the mirrors.
Did you ever trim around the intrusion bars?
What did you do to get the mirrors to mount ? It looks like the brackets use the same holes.
They absolutely do. Instead of putting the bolts in from the outside and using supplied nuts, I put the bolts on from the inside through to use the mirrors to tighten.
@@RustbeltMechanic great info! thanks
How did you use the can am mirrors. I know you have to drill out the holes for spacers.
I'm wondering that myself.
How did it work with the intrusion bar mounts on the A pillars, does it still seal ok?
No, the weather seal at minimum needs trimmed. I’ll show in an upcoming video what I did
@@RustbeltMechanic any chance you could post a photo on your IG page please?
@@PaulMinster message me on IG and I’ll send some pics later this week.
I would love to see a picture of how it looks around the intrusion bar mounts as well
@@jarradneilson1946 send me a message on Instagram
what bolt did you use to install the side mirrors. I have the same setup but I'm having difficulties installing the racing mirrors.
Grind the little spacer down like 1/4 inch or so
Is it compatible with the aluminium roof?
My driver side won’t go down 1 year later? Any fixes? Suggestions? Passenger side works up and down just driver side won’t go down.
Did you check to see if there is power getting to it? Always check power and ground before anything else.
@@RustbeltMechanic hey would you be able to send me a picture of the back of your switch wires? Mine came loose so I took them out and for got which place they go in. It’s a 10 pin connection I’m only use to 6 pin. If you can post it here or email me a picture at chert023@gmail.com thank you
Great video! I've been searching for answers on how well an electric wiper would work on the power flip. I'm wanting to street legal mine but didnt want to spend $1500 to find out it's going to be a problem. Do you have any experience or plan to add the wiper?
I’d love to see them be able to add a modular wiper to this but it does not exist... 2 reason...
1. This isn’t a hard glass. The wiper would break down the “hardened plexiglass coating” and eventually damage it.
2. The current wiper system mounts to the body below the windshield. You would not be able to use the power flip function without unbolting the wiper arm
Ordered mine with one..
@@RustbeltMechanic canam make a washer and wiper kit for the screen now
@@mzwak2001 have you installed it yet?
@@PaulMinster yes I have and really like it, it does have the wiper and so far no issues!
Awesome job, that windshield is cool af bud
Are the intrusion bars the hitting the windshield anywhere else or just on the mounts? Could you use a little RTV to act as a makeshift weather stripping where you cut the weather stripping?
No it doesn’t touch anywhere else and yes you definitely could do that
HI Did you manage to trim around the intrusion bar brackets and if so how did you seal around. Also is this windscreen compatable with the aluminium sport roof?...Is there another video to demostrate.I,m Keen to order and install one on my X3 but still like to keep my intrusion bars one.Kindly advise
@@dezgovindasamy6145 it’ll fit with intrusion bars and aluminium roof.
You did a great job but i don't like the power. Rather be just removable!
Some time lapse work shots need to happen.
I wanted to and thought I had but double clicked the camera so only got 2 seconds lol
Would be great if it had a wiper
Yes it really would
They offer one for it!
@@mzwak2001 they do for the power flip one now??
@@RustbeltMechanic dont listen to him!!!! You can not put a wiper on a poly windshield it will destroy it in one day. You can only use a wiper on glass. You would have so many scratches on that it wouldn’t be funny.
Please check the Can Am website it’s listed as an option.
Sweet. Nice job. Love the videos, hell of a project :P
We are a UK garage. Check out our chanel.
Very nice 👍🏻
Just an idea, can we have some tech talk and tool stuff on your Chanel man, I miss your videos, but im not EVER gonna give a shit about a side by side, least of all any can am product. If my vote counts I say burn that piece of shit and let's get back to cars.. Mho
I understand you man, but it’s not ever gonna be ALL tools and shop talk. Yes a lot of it will be, but I’m ALWAYS gonna have a project vehicle and such... this is the current project
@@RustbeltMechanic I get that, but 2 things, 1 it's not even a car, like side hustle, project cars, or a build even makes sense. 2 you have done lots of videos about it lately, not much else.
On a far lessrelevant note I think side by sides are the Subaru and vape mod of the woods, and can am? Really? There such garbage.. Mho..
Just hoping to fix the ratio and get the content the kid and I miss..
You don't even have a whiper
Did you ever trim the windshield around the intrusion bar mounts?
Just the weatherstrip/trim
