I have an expedited freight business. I got a phone call this morning from a company that operates nuclear power plants. They had some freight in Wichita Kansas they needed picked up and delivered ASAP. I picked up 6400 worth of rescue bits from the manufacturer. I talked to the guy who invented it. I was in the welding and fabrication business for almost thirty years, and I had never heard of this.

Man! I could've used one of these in 1968! Adding Mickey Thompson finned aluminum valve covers to my '67 GTO 400ci engine, I snapped the head off one bolt.

Chris wow, that's quite the pickle!
That is an expensive tool, but you are right, when it's the only thing that will work it's worth it. I had to drill out a cross threaded dowel nut when the bolt snapped off inside the frame when taking apart one of the boys' bed. luckily, the metal in that nut was softer and I was able to use normal drill and bit.

I’m planning on keeping these bits in the toolbox for those “in case of emergency” moments.

And the moral of the story is, don't use a ball end when you don't need to , I've learned my own lesson with this, only rounded the socket though.

Yeah. That is a lesson learned for sure! I didn’t think these would be that tough to get off!

That bit is not steel. It is a carbide burr. They are very brittle. It requires high speed or the teeth will crack. For larger dia. needs, a carbide end mill will do the same.

I love these i use them in dremel and for tight spots a pencil die grinder or dremel flexshaft work great

Oh man, these jobs suck. I'd happily spend the $50 knowing it'd work. Reminds me of when I had to extract TWO snapped DV bolt from the housing of an IS38 turbo, someone decided it was a great idea to use high strength threadlocker on these.

I was a somewhat skeptical at first… but the darn thing did it’s job! I could think of a few past problems that this would have come in very handy for. This wasn’t the first bit I’ve had break off!! And plenty of broken bolts. Lol

I had the same issue, except my broken bit is still stuck in the top of my coilovers! I think I just got sold on this bit haha!

I did that too on one of mine but I ended up using an impact socket only and didn’t have issues again
