When I completed grad school, I felt at a complete loss. Someone said to me “you’ve overfunctioned for years in order to finish, let yourself feel that loss.” It completely transformed how I feel about transition.
I am in sober recovery for decades and "compare and despair" is not only self-defeating ....it is a form of self-abuse!

What does build in the space mean to you? Or what do you think she meant?
Let yourself feel the emotion in order to move on. Take time to grieve the loss as it is healthy and will open you up to seek new opportunities as the grieving emotion will evolve into progression to your next project. If you do not allow yourself to grieve, the grief will stay stuck in you and get in the way of your positive, healthy moving on.
