In Sweden there's a monopoly on selling alcohol, so it's not available in regular stores. There's only one chain that sells it and they're very very strict when it comes to checking the ID and the age of the patrons (21). So a lot of people buy cheap alcohol abroad, smuggle it into Sweden and sell it to youngsters. Some people just buy it from the monopoly chain and sell it to youngsters but for a more expensive price! Just an FYI.
However, you can buy drinks at a bar when you're 18.

The show’s creators and Edvin who plays Wilhelm have all confirmed that Wilhelm is unlabeled, so he’s not gay, bi etc. They wanted to tell a story about a person who doesn’t have to label their sexuality because it happens in the real world too, that you don’t need to label yourself if you don’t feel like it. Personally, I think that’s amazing! Especially for those who don’t feel like they fit into a label and that they simply don’t want to label themselves :)
The concept of "not fitting into a label" is so weird, because there's a label for everything. We create labels to describe people, the labels weren't there originally for us to fit into, you know?
@@erikperhs_. Yes, labels are a very good way of describing people and it can make us feel comfortable and seen, but there’s also people who don’t want to label themselves as I said before. That’s okay and understandable because labels can sometimes make people feel trapped if you understand what I mean. We don’t have to use labels to describe ourselves if we don’t want to and if we’re not comfortable with it :)
@@erikperhs_ yes, but sexuality is fluid. I personally go by unlabeled because 1. I don't feel like explaining to people what my sexuality is in detail. 2. I'm still trying to figure it out. if someone asks me if I'm gay or queer I'll still say yes, but unlabeled is more of a middle ground. if you stick to one label from the start you can feel trapped or out of place within it with even the smallest of changes.
@@yarinhazan147 sexuality and taste may be fluid but it's pretty widely accepted that sexual orientation is set and there's only three options when it comes to it, you're either attracted to only people of the opposite sex which makes you heterosexual, only people of your own sex which makes you homosexual, or people of both sexes (at equal or different ratios) which makes you bi.
there's no details or explaining what one's orientation is. if you feel like there's additional details to it, it's probably about your tastes and desires which nobody beside those you may be interested in and are interested back need to know about 🤷♀

The actress portraying Sara (Frida Argento) has Asperger's and ADHD herself and I think it is really nice to see real representation where the character and the actress both are on the spectrum. In Sweden we generally say autism spectrum, but some of those who were diagnosed before we used the autism spectrum terms I think often use the term Asperger's since it is what is in their papers. She is also of latino decent (I think her father is from Argentina). The actor Edvin Ryding who portrays Wilhelm has anxiety himself and the scenes later on in the series where Wilhelm has more visible anxiety seem very real because of his own experiences of how it is I think. I also love how they don't cover up his face with make up to cover the acne or other "imperfections" in his skin(they did not do it with any of the other actors either). It is also uncommon to have a person of color represent the popular girl as Nikita Uggla portrays Felice. It is also not too common to see a nice popular girl (Felice was a little rude to Sara in the beginning of the episode, but that is like Sara says more about her own insecurities than it is about Sara). In other shows I think they would put a person of color as a side-character and have them have very little screen time. Omar Rudberg (Simon) is venezuelan and his first language is Spanish (he also speaks Swedish and English). It is nice that they represents a bilingual character in the show and have a person of color be the love interest of the protagonist, as well as Simon and Wilhelm both being guys. Like Wilhelm, Omar does not label his sexuality either and I think it is nice they have a person who is LGBTQ themselves represent a LGBTQ-character (even though the character and the actor does not have the same sexuality). I also think it was nice they gave new actors and actresses a chance to do the show. Young Royals is the debut of Omar, Nikita and Frida. I think Nikita and Frida might have done some theater before, but not acting in this kind of production. Omar is a singer and was in one of the bigggest Swedish boy bands called FO&O/The Fooo conspiracy, so people in Sweden knew who he was before Young Royals, but not as an actor.

The comment August friends made in the church was more about the fact that Simon is working/middle class and of less socioeconomic status then August and the others that are nobility.

I don't think Wilhelm was upset about leaving his old school, because people wouldn't be as fun in the new place. He just wanted to go to school with "normal" everyday people and he didn't want to leave home.

In Sweden we put ketchup on a lot of things, spagetti without ketchup is unthinkable.
I don't know if you missed when they said it but August, the guy you really don't like, is Wilhelms second cousin and that's why he hangs with him.
I mean.. when I was really young I used to eat ketchup by itself with a spoon so I’m really no one to talk 😂😂 Also, yes I did hear that. But he shouldn’t 😂😂 fuck August.
In Denmark we also often put ketchup on spaghetti/pasta and a lot of other things, I also think most students here have at some point just eaten pasta and Ketchup cause its (relatively) cheep and easy.
I think the ketchup-on-pasta is there for a reason, it´s used as a way to show a contrast, between Simon and Sara's home and the posh life at the Hillerska school. If it had been an American show, it would perhaps had been boxed mac & cheese that had been used to show that they are quite poor, or working class people, average Joe so to speak.
I live in America but I can confirm that ketchup on your spaghetti slaps and is the only way I eat it.
Woohoo! Love this show. It is for sure OG Skam vibes. And several of the actors are fans of OG and have talked about how much that comparison means to them!
I don’t feel it’s that close to Skam, the setting alone is very different. They’re both Skandinavian though, so both rather honest and direct, maybe that is why people see many similarities.
The headwriter has mentioned on Instagram being a big fan of skam! So the vibes matching...makes sense. And I kinda love it. So much that I don't even know how to describe how happy it makes me feel. Like a fan of Skam "made it big" and is now dropping Easter eggs into their own personal work for us to find. It's beautiful.
@@mellowtopia5376 The music choices is very very similar. And the cinematography. Those are the two similarities that jumped out at me _before_ I knew the headwriter was a fan of Skam. And I also feel like the writing and how raw and real it is ...is similar enough. It makes sense to me if they did draw inspiration from Skam even just in tiny ways.
@@AnxietyRat They clearly did draw inspiration, to the point of copying. After watching Skam it just was very clear to me how much they wanted to emulate, but to me it feels off in some circumstances. Comparing Skam characters to YR characters for instance, YR characters are much more stereotypical, which is understandable, given it’s supposed be this fictional universe. YR is an entertaining show, but Skam it isn’t.
@@mellowtopia5376 Skam was never meant to be entertaining. It was meant to be and feel real. That's it. That's why social media and text messages and live time clip drops were a huge part of the show. To make the characters *feel* like real people. It's fine if Skam just wasn't your vibe. It isn't a show for everyone. 🤷♀️

I consider this show as my little child, because I waited a month before the release and then worked really hard for it to get featured in reaction channels. Thanks to my (and another fans') dedication, it started getting the attention it deserves. And then they announced season 2 and I felt like "fuck yeah, we did it!!"

The actress who plays Wilhelm's mother, also played Anakin Skywalker's mother in "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace" and "Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones".

This series is so good, and it's only 6 episodes so you are able to squeeze it in. I'm glad that it feels like you really want to do this show, cause you shouldn't feel preasured to do reactions to a certain show, Just because the viewers want you to. I loved Young Royals before I watched Skam. After watching OG Skam, I have to say (just my personal opinion) that Skam is better. Maybe because I prefer the more realistic scenario, the characters and I just totally fell in love with Isak and Even. That said, YR is very sweet and Wilhelm and Simon absolutely melt our hearts. Glad this is getting a second season!
It's funny how we all can come away with differing opnions. I also watched OG Skam after watching Young Royals and while it was cute, I just didn't feel emotionally connected to it like I did YR. I think part of it is that we only ever get Isaks perspective. We never see Even when he's alone or get close to him so I didn't feel a connection to his character at all, like he was just another love interest. I also thought their chemistry was kind of off. I love that Simon is his own character with a plot that doesn't revolve around Wille. Plus I think their chemistry is on another level in YR. There's also so many details in YR that you can only catch after rewatching several times and there's always something new to discover.

i slightly agree. i watched YR before OG Skam and i adored every single season of skam and i cried when it ended. but i also cried for young royals and i love Simon! both shows have great characters and the plots are strong, but yes i like the more realistic approach although i could argue that YR also has a realistic feel to it. idk i adore both shows.
