It was the perfect storm of bad thinks happening to August.
I think what this episode is particularly good at (and the next one as well) is that no-one in this show is really blameless. Things are not black and white. Wilhelm didn't need to take these drugs, it was his decision. Simon didn't have to steal the meds from his dad as well, also his decision. August didn't have to leak the video, but when Wilhelm for once asserted his position, he did so. No-one in this show is only good or bad, and as I said, this will continue in the next episode. One word about Wilhelm - you could see glimpses in this episode about how sheltered he has been in his life, how he makes bad decisions and ends up in trouble but then sees himself first, not really taking into account what his actions mean for other people. It may be due to the fact that as a prince, his problems are usually solved by other people, for him. Even at the Lucia thing, he told Simon they decided to blame Alexander (not a great thing to do btw...) because Wilhelm "didn't want to lose Simon, as he was the only one Wilhelm could talk to." ... He put himself before Simon here, still not really seeing Simon's side of things. I think he's not used to having to take responsibility for other people, in emotional relationships, not 'political' ones like his family construct, because so far in his life, he never had to. That's something that Wilhelm has to learn, and I think Simon is a little further ahead there. Next episode is going to be good, but then the wait begins. Series should commence in Summer 2022, let's hope so.
yes each one messes up, has flaw. But there is no manipulation, even the video was an impulsive move I think, by anger.
I totally agree with you. And I think we need to remember that they're teenagers and teenagers aren't exactly known for being emotionally mature and making the right decisions for the right reasons. I liked the way Wilhelm handled the whole situation - not because I actually liked what he did but because it was realistic for a confused, panicked, socially-pressured teenager.
@@morethangreens Fully agree. Like Skam, this show (for the most part at least) shows teenagers behaving like teenagers, with all the flaws that includes. And adults of course are not immune to flaws either.
The problem is that we can't compare their mistakes because they are in different levels.
Simon and Wille mistakes only affect themselves. If Simon was caught dealing drugs, he would be in trouble.
If Wille was caught doing drugs he would be in trouble.
But August mistake affects other people's lives not his own.
no because the AUDACITY the writers had for making this episode the one in which they've been happy together the longest AND the one in which the video came out?????? no. UNACCEPTABLE.

What really bug me is August CAN pay his tuition if he want to (when her mother asked him to sale several heirlooms that can pay his his tuition several times over), he just chose not to because of his pride, because he want everyone to know he have that power… & it’s shocked him that Wilhelm took that power from him when Wilhelm confronted him & THAT the reason August leaked the video, to bring Wilhelm down & take back that power from him… I kinda hate him 🥲
Real fact, the scar that is on his left cheek it's actually real, in an interview Edvin did with Over Rordet#38 towards the end 1:17:51 they ask him how he got it, Edvin said when he was 7 years old he was playing tag with his best friend at his sister's kindergarten when he slipped and hit his face at a very sharp edge of a table cutting him open requiring stitches, I think it's great that they show real scars, another relatable real thing this YR gives us 👍

Wilhelms messed up when he took the drugs. He shouldn't have done that! However, he was a mess - his brother had just died and Erik had told him that he can trust August. That August was like a brother to them. So it just makes me hate August even more! I like that you can see it from Wilhelm's side too! Aswell as Simon's...
But I really dislike that Simon doesn't take any responsibility! He is the one who sold the drugs. It's not fair for them to put all the blame on Simon. But if they had to come 100% clean with the headmaster then Simon would be in a lot of trouble. It is illegal to deal drugs. He really messed up both with selling Alcohol and the drugs. (I understand why Simon did it!). Both he and Vilhelm messed up here, but I don't like that Simon acts like he did nothing wrong...
I disagree with you saying "good for him" when Simon walked out. I think you may have misunderstood Wilhelm. Wilhelm did NOT want Simon to take the blame. He was just talking with him about it. He was in trouble and he wants Simon to help him make the right decision. But Simon didn't listen to him at all. He just assumed that Wilhelm agreed with the other. Like you did (and I did the same too before Vilhelm told Simon, and us, otherwise, so I don't judge!). I agree however that Wilhelm wasn't clear at first. But Simon walked out when Vilhelm said he was trying to talk to him.
I like how that both Simon and Wilhelm are flawed. They are just teenagers and of course they will make mistakes. Everyone does. It is very realistic - I love that!
I also really love how Wilhelms is always telling Simon the truth. He always shares his thoughts and worries with Simon. He's just not always that good at saying exactly what he means right away. But he gets there eventually. And as he said "I didn't say that you should take the blame. I'm in a fucked up situation and I'm just trying to talk with you". Oh boy, so many other tv-charachter's could learn from that! COMMUNICATION IS KEY! Way to go Wilhelm! (but NOT the way to go Simon, when he just left...)
Wilhelm had Simon's back! I acutally wanted Simon to thank him. Because Simon would have been kicked out of school if they hadn't put the blame on someone... So Vilhelm did it both for Simon and himself.
I like in the end that you said that Wilhelm is a good person. Because he really is! Simon and him are just such good people! (all people mess up sometimes...). And Wilhelm is so loyal to the people he loves and his family. Wilhelm and Simon are so sweet togehter! I also love that Vilhelm isn't afraid to go to Simon's house. They just want to spend their time togehter - so cute!
"It's too good to be true"; I felt the same way watching this for the first time. So paranoid because of freaking August... You just know it's a matter of time before he gets in the way... And then he did...

Right. It‘s pretty interesting that nearly all the reactors thought August would blackmail Wilhelm and/or Simon with the video or even sell it to be able to pay his tuition fees. But his motivations were much lower. He leaked the video because of jealousy and hurt pride. Which is pretty autentic and shows again how young he is. He didn‘t even think as he filmed them, he just did it.
I‘m very excited what will happen to August in Season 2. Without doubt, he‘s an ass, but in my opinion he’s also one of the most interesting and complex characters in Young Royals.
Season 2 hasn’t started filming yet but according to Omar and Edvin interviews it will this spring and will release sometime in 2022!! Also their connection is so beautiful, they had an intimacy coach that they talk about how it really helped develop their intentions as actors to portray real moments between two people in love 🥰
im pretty sure theyre done filming season 2 and it comes out in july of this year!

People seem really surprise about the ideia of an intimacy coordinator. It's very normal, almost every show has one.
Just wanted to say that I have heard in so many reaction videos (and yours too) that Wille should have communicated better/in a more thought revealing way - and you’re right of course … BUT how could he? He‘s a freakin‘ teenager growing up in the possibly most uptight and closed-up family environment. And as we very likely all know if we can remember that time at all at least very many (me included!) had to really learn how to have good and helpful conversations. I have fucked up many times - why should it have been better within this setting. Wilhelm possibly couldn’t even really think straight with he’s general anxiety and the added angst to lose Simon…
Not criticizing though - just noticing… unfortunately once we more mature individuals have learned what a certain situation requires communicationwise it becomes so f**ing obvious that we forget it unfortunately isn’t so for the untrained.

You'll see next episode, but what's even worse about August leaking the tape is that he didn't do it for money. He did it purely out of spite and jealousy. Wilhelm humiliated him in front of his peers and to him, it was unacceptable. This makes him in my eyes, a truly terrible person with no redeeming qualities. If he had leaked the tape for money, it would have been super shitty and aweful too, but doing it just to ruin Wilhelm's life and get back at him? Uuuuugh I hate him.

I would rather wait a bit longer, than for you to stress over getting videos up fast. Sara looks so pretty as Lucia, and Lucia is from the Saint Lucia and celebration of light. I still don't like August, but many of them did something they shouldn't, so it's not all black and white.
I agree Malin knows they were in action in Wille's room, she has ears, right.
About August selling the video for money: really no, his only concern is "the status". He wouldn't risk the royalty anger towards him, even for money. It is not only outing Wille, it is firstly "violate his privacy", I would be devasted.

I agree too. Wille is angry at Simon for the drugs, and I don't get it. I appreciate the transparency of Wille to tell him what they plan. But yes he should have told him that he disagree with the plan, and Simon could maybe helped him to find a solution.
I think August is re-watching the video because he can't believe Wille has a partner who is not acceptable for the monarchy as a king (working class, male...). He is disappointed in Wille because status is so important to him. That is why he asks to Vincent if Wille has what it takes to be a good king.
"why they can just tell everyone"? Because a royal doesn't show his private life in public....impossible. If it becomes public, it stops right there. At the end of the video, you get it: Wille"s only issue is his family disagreement of his privacy being public. He doesn't care of being fluid.

I don't think the dad will tell anything, he wants to reconnect and doesn't seem bad person, weak ok. And Felice is not bad either. Like I already said before this show has genuine characters, not the usual not caring ones.

The Universe definitely wants Wilhelm and Simon together. They are the perfect Yin and Yang.
And if I was in charge of the Universe, Omar and Edvin would be too.
Also Wilhelm in the show is only 16, in real life Edvin was 17 and Simon (Omar) 22 when shooting YR, therefore as young prince he never really had to stand up for himself and the fact that when he realised that he had to step up he did, Wilhelm is finally finding himself, learning and maturing, in season 2 we will see (I hope) a different Wilhelm I am sure of it he want let us down I just feel it,
August let him down, Wilhelm although he didn't really like August he still trusted him due to the fact that his brother told him so, and when he got drunk and took some drugs that was his first experience again in trusting August and trying to forget his pain and loss of his brother, we can't blame him for that, he was hurting so much it should have been up to August to protect him like the Queen asked him too, I relate to his pain because I did the same thing, I just wanted this constant pain to subside just for a little while, so yes this show is so real I love it sooo much ❤️
One thing that kinda made me mad about this was that you said Wille didn’t say “I’m not gonna do that, but the other guys want to,” because HE DID. Simon asked, “so are you going to?” And Wille said NO. He said he didn’t want to do that. He was talking to Simon to figure out what to do instead

The season 2 shooting is going to start next mouth. So is probably going to be released early on july or late in december.

10:50 omar (simon's actor) is actually a really famous singer in sweden, he was in a band for ~5 years and that was how he got famous, the names of the three fish are actually an alteration of his ex band members' names (felix, oscar and ogge)
He has been a solo artist for around 4 years now and his new song is coming out next week!! (also, stream mi casa su casa)

I picked up on your subtitle comment. Perhaps people don't know that this one is also dubbed. I was tipped off to the fact that the English dubbing is voiced by the actual cast (I watched Edvin and Omar's Tik Tok BTS and I thought, they sound just like their voices on the show and then found their credits at the end of the show) so you're still hearing their voices. I actually watched it in English audio first before watching it in Swedish to get more of a feel for the show. Now when I rewatch it, I just put it on English so that I can listen to it whilst I do other things.
