- Here's a quick tutorial on how to associate your new Brother ScanNCut DX with the Brother Canvas Workspace. This will allow you to wirelessly transfer scanned images or saved projects to the cloud so you can easily edit designs on your computer. If you have a previous version of ScanNCut, the method is the same but the screens will be a little different.

Great info Becky. I'm contemplating purchasing the ScanNCut DX but am a little reluctant because I have no idea how to use it. I have some ideas on what I'd like to do with it, but not sure if it is feasible or not. Of course, I'd like to make my own embellished t-shirts and possibly embellish coffee mugs. Any tutorials you might post would be appreciated. By the way, I noticed your PIN number is visible on your VLOG if you pause the video in just the right spot. A quick question? I am brand new to Scan n cut and I am wondering how to figure out what all these Icons mean and what do they do? I keep looking at the literature that came with my scan n cut but I cannot find anything on that. Do you have any suggestions? I have recently bought this model for our other house and I bought another for my husband to use with his laser cutter for his designs so I've purchased two of them in the last year and a half. As you know, I'm partial to a Windows machine because I have a program called Simply Applique (part of BES4) that won't run on a Mac. So I've purchased a Windows machine and this one in the link below has enough engine power and memory to move along quickly without being sluggish, it has a ton of space to hold all my designs (I have thousands of them), and it has a 14" screen so I can see what I'm doing pretty well. This system is my hobby machine so I can toodle around on the internet really quick and download designs quickly. I've even use it to process my videos when were at the coast so the internal memory is very quick. It also has Bluetooth so I can wirelessly transfer images from my phone to my computer (which is really cool!). I think this machine is the best bang for the buck and it was recommended to me by a nerd that I work with. It has 2 USB ports for your mouse dongle and one other. This one has a verbal interface called Cortana that can talk you through set up so you don't need a grandchild to help. :) If you don't get this particular machine, read the specs on the page and get another that is close so you have the speed and space you need. I recommend staying with HP. Best on the US market in my personal opinion. That said, it does not have an internal DVD drive (most new machines don't nowadays). I only buy Dell. You can get cheaper but this one is just a few dollars more and is very reliable. amzn.to/2yEt4se
You'll also need a mouse. I have this one that comes with a gel pad because I get carpal tunnel if I compute too long which can happen when we're looking for designs and working with embroidery software. It's wireless and it's fabulous. Logitech is the only brand I've bought for years and years. amzn.to/2M4B7l4
If you need more than two USB ports (maybe you want to charge your phone while you're computing?) here's a good USB multi-port hub. This will allow you to plug in your mouse dongle, DVD drive, and embroidery software dongle all at the same time. amzn.to/36Bv0hP

Let us know of your honest opinion of this version. I have the original and don't use it much because of the frustration I have when attempting to cut fabric which is why I bought it when it came out. I like the idea of the auto knife setting. Not sure what to do with mine if I purchase the newer model.
Did you apply a fabric support sheet for cutting fabric? If you do not use a fabric support sheet your fabric will get pushed all over the map by the blade regardless of the older version or this new one.
Becky- Thanks again for your informative videos. Could you share the difference between the Online version of Canvas Workspace and the PC download version of Canvas Workspace? I’m new to ScanNcut! Which one do you recommend?
I would tell you the difference between them if I could, but I've never used the local version. Whenever I use Canvas, I'm always connected to the internet so I don't need the downloaded version. However, I've heard it looks different but behaves the same.

Used my SNC DX225 for the first time tonight. Have had it since June/July. LOVE IT. How many passes can you make on the fabric sheet before needing to replace? I have 252 pieces to cut out (all hexies) with a total of 28 passes to get them all cut. Do you clean this sheet with the sanitizer wipes and if so, how often? Thanks and have s great weekend.
I’ve read a lot of reviews about the mat not loading right after a few times using this version, I don’t know if I want to spend that kind of money if this is an issue. Let me know you’re thoughts.
I have found the mat to be a little bit more sensitive on this model then it was on my 650 wireless. However if you are careful and align it properly and hit the load button everything seems to be fine so far. I have only loaded the mat about 6 times though.
Did you get the Disney one? I ended buying one, and I'm still trying to figure it out. I like the wireless transfer feature, but I'm still learning :)

Is this also how to connect the CM3650WX machine?
I've had this for months and still haven't connected it. It came woth a little card with a number on it to use.
The steps are basically the same but the menus are a little different. You'll be asked by Canvas to put in the number off the back of the activation card if I recall. DON'T LOSE THAT CARD!! LOL
Please help !! When I’m working in Canvas workspace and I want to send my project to my brother scan and cut. It is the SDX 325. It always gives me an error. The error is E00003. I don’t know what to do Help.
I know how to get the canvas work space but it won't hook up to Wi-Fi 😢😢😢😢 mine is the 85s
Someone had a circuit and left it plugged in and it caught on fire. I would not let any plugged in when not using.
I wished u would have transferred a file. I have done this and everything is correct. It asks for me to click a transfer button which is not there and I get no where.
Can a brother scan n cut sdx 225f work on a Chromebook?
The SNC works independently from any computers. The Chromebook is simply a web browser that uses apps - essentially it's a giant version of your phone without the ability to call anyone. So on the Chromebook you can get to the online web version of Brother Canvas and use that platform. However, you can't download any embroidery software to a Chromebook. Standard software that is not an app, won't work on a Chromebook.
What kind of laptop do you use. Mine wont work with the canvasworkspace.
You only need a web browser to use Canvas Workspace since it is online. It works with all computers.
I downloaded the program for the scan and cut 85s, not sure what to do next. I found the download file in the downloads folder, do I extract the file? or what? this is where I'm not sure
I'm sorry but I'm not familiar with the SDX85. I think there's an app you need on your phone. Is there a QR code in your literature to get the app? Recommend searching on UA-cam for SDX85. Lots of videos come up.
How do you save in Canvas Workspace? I imported a file into Canvas Workspace, names it, moved everything around to the way I wanted. Looked foe a save button but didn’t find one so I just Downloaded it to my Scan N Cut. The file imported into the Scan N Cut the way it was originally imported into Canvas Workspace none of the changes were there. I did try to cut it using a fabric mat. When I did a test it told me to put it the machine on 2. Then the first thing it does is rip the fabric off the Fabric Mat and make a 2” cut through my mat ( in a straight line, it was supposed to be cutting a circle?). I am not a happy camper.
There's an icon with an inbox with a plus. That's how you save.

I finally was able to get my first fabric pieces cut out without cutting the fabric mat completely through. Now I need to research how to clean the mat. I was surprised at how grimy it got after just one use with fabric.
Sometimes I feel I have no computer sense these days. I’m retired, I use to be able to open magnetic read the code to change file information then upload the files. I can’t begin to count how many programs I download from state and federal agencies onto my computer but when I was loading this I felt like I had never done anything like this before, crazy. I have a Dell computer that I absolutely hate. It replaced an old slow computer but I think the slow computer was faster than this thing. It takes 30 minutes to wake-up, since the beginning. I’ve scanned for virus but come back clean. I’ve had it for a couple years and all the sudden I’m getting a message saying it doesn’t recognize my AC adapter and that I should get a Dell 45W AC adapter?! I just keep hitting continue. If I hadn’t just replaced my furnace and did Truck repairs I’d consider getting a new one. Thanks again, Love your channel maybe some day we’ll meet, but then again I live in Ohio and just sold my camper so that’s doubtful 🤨.
i tried 3 times keep saying it wouldn't connect
If you don’t have an activation card you’re screwed. I have an older model and can no longer find an activation card. I can connect to wifi but then can go no further without the darn card and Brother doesn’t offer them anymore so I’m screwed. It sucks.
Some dealers may still have them in stock. You might call around.
I did all that & it still said registering failed
You might need to check that you're using the 2.4Ghz band in your house vs. the 5.0Ghz. Our toys like the SNC use the lower 2.4Ghz band. If you can't see it, you might call your cable company (Spectrum is usually a culprit) or whoever supplied your router so that you can see that lower band on your router. If the company-supplied router is the problem because you can't see the 2.4Ghz band, then you can buy your own router at places like Walmart.
Can you use an iPad instead of a laptop?
To be honest, I'm not sure. I've not tried to connect anything through a mobile device (all tablets and phones are considered mobile devices). But since the connectivity isn't going through the tablet - the tablet is just the "phone line" pointing the SNC and the Canvas cloud at each other - it just might. Give it a try!
