This is a great analysis of the film!👍 I love how you described the contrast of Norma Jean & Marilyn Monroe. It didn't occur to me that Norma would blame her alter ego or fault her for her bad choices. This is someone that was constantly at war with herself. Norma was the scared little girl that needed to be loved & yearned for her daddy. Marilyn was loved and adored. It is easier to be someone else, than deal with who you really are. Norma was constantly in her head, and did not know how to be with people. I think she was afraid of being really seen for who she was. Maybe fearing that people will see how unlovable she is (in her mind)?
I think she struggled with maintaining both sides of herself. The two personalities were too different. If only she could find a way to realize her artistic talent in a way that would fit her moral standards and have a family, she would be happy. But we can only guess. Maybe even then she would find something else to be upset about, considering she was constantly overananalyzing everything in her head.
