Wooden Mason Jar Lid Woodturning
Hey guys and gals! This week I show you how to make a wooden mason jar lid! Its Not too hard of a project and it makes your mason jars look pretty cool if your using them for decorations. Or just to spruce up your storage containers. I show you how to spruce up your mason jars with a wooden project! You will need to pick a type of wood you like, Ive used several different types for this project and they all look pretty good, But ash is the cheapest and it still looks good in the end. I like to use rough sawn wood because if you use a planer you end up loosing a lot of material, you can clean it up on the lathe which save time and also give you a slightly thicker piece of wood to start with. You will need a glue block and a good heavy duty hot glue gun for this project. You can use regular wood glue but it requires a lot more dry time.

I can't see the advantage of using a drill bit, a skew is the tool to use on the lathe.
What ever gets the job done, for me it made it easier to make several of these and have them all fit snug. I am not a machine so its hard to be that precise when I'm making a lot of these at once.
Can you use CA glue instead of hot gun?
I'm sure you could use what ever glue you have on hand, I just like hot glue because it's a strong bond and it's almost instant. I usually give it a few minutes to cool down but I can turn with it with in 10 minutes and feel confident that it will hold
