Over/Under Test Tiles for Your Glazes

- This is a cathartic moment for me Anuja Lath, the weekend potter at Aura Pottery!
As mostly a self taught (weekend) potter, I knew next to nothing about glazing till less than a year ago. A potter friend recommended John Britt Pottery book on Cone 4 - 7 glazing and I gleefully bought it thinking it was all downhill from there. Apparently not!
Like an over-enthusiastic kid, I started out testing 80 recipes from his book. Minerals were bought, time and money was spent (lots wasted too) and 100s of test tiles were made. I experimented with 3-4 different tile designs in the beginning. I slowly narrowed down my palette to 20, then 15 and finally 12 glazes (which I am told is still too many!)
The video you see is my second attempt at building a 12x12 grid palette of glazes with over/under glaze experimenting. I now have a permutation-combination of all tiles with every other tile with this 144 tile grid.
I am quite pleased (actually thrilled) with the results, I think it will serve the studio well. A long-stay resident at Aura Pottery, Mona Gouda, had a blast because she saw the end-to-end process of this experiment LIVE and also got to help and learn. Happy for her, she escapes my struggles 🙂
Am very grateful to John Britt, love his detailing and explaining in the book. Thank you John Britt Pottery, hope to meet you someday!
Thanks to my Mon-Fri city job, I have only managed a fleeting analysis of these tiles laid out in the studio, but plan to spend the weekend gloating over them!
Please share your feedback and suggestions, would absolutely love it!

Can I do this by brushing on my glazes? They aren’t meant to be dipped but I love how you did this!!
Hey Aura Pottery!! Thanks for the video!! Would you please explain me the mixing plan you used here? There were 12 glazes..??? And you mixed them 3 times?? Or I'm wrong.. ?
