How to Make Ceramic Test Tiles - 3 Different Ways

  • This is a short demonstration video of 3 different ways that you can make clay test tiles.
    Test tiles are used to try out and refine new glazes and/or finishes before you apply them to any pieces you make. It saves losing a piece if something new you want to try doesn't work out exactly how you planned. They are particularly useful if you are mixing your glazes or you are experimenting with layering to get a specific end result.
    I make a habit of doing a tile for any new glaze I buy to see how it fires on my clay, in my kiln with my firing schedule as it's often different to the pictures you see when buying. You can see how I do this in any of my glaze test/unboxing videos.

    I’ve never seen anyone show the third way to make test tiles! I think most people use extruders ti do this one.
