I switched from my big Gaomon PC drawing tablet to an Ipad mini 6th Generation and I looove it!
Its so portable and affordable for artists wanting a little more than just a few colored pencils or choice of color techniques when creating art with paper!
Im currently using Clip Studio Paint on the Ipad Mini 6th gen and I sometimes put my ipad sideways to have more space, but since I like creating artworks on smaller pieces I dont mind it at all!
    So I would recommend!
Ive also been thinking about trying Procreate too
But I love this video and the way you explained the pros and cons! ☺️

Great overview - thanks! I use a Mini for sketching outdoors, in cafes etc, and it’s perfect for that. Working at home, I use a 2018 2nd gen 12.9 “ iPad Pro. It’s a bit older now, and only uses the 1st gen pencil, but it’s still works beautifully for making digital art with Procreate.

I have plans on buying an Ipad mini mainly because logging with me the largest ipad on trips or at school next to the pc is bothersome and takes up space. I'll still use my Pro 12.9, just at home instead :) can't wait to try out the Mini with Procreate!

I loved my iPad 10th gen, but because I use affinity photo and Davinci Resolve the iPad can't really handle the programs properly. I had to bite the bullet and get the iPad pro M2 11 inch. That size is perfect for me since I work still full time and Ik a lot of people recommended the M1 but my carrier doesn't have them in stock anymore. I'm pretty excited to get it and test the limits of it!

I was using a 9.7” iPad Pro that I had bought in 2016 for procreate and it was awesome… I didn’t think I would love using a device as a sketchbook, but procreate, a paper like screen protector and the iPad changed my mind. In 2020 I found a stupid good deal on a refurbished 2018 12.9” iPad Pro … it was mind blowing… in the beginning of the pandemic… took things to a whole new level. Wow. You are going to love the bigger iPad. I’m putting it out to the universe that I wish for you to find an amazing deal and drawing and digital art creating Nirvana with a bigger iPad Pro!

this is interesting to me, I tried getting into digital art using a second hand cintiq 16. It was great, but I ended up falling off it and not really using it as much as I'd like, mostly because I find the setup at my desktop so clunky and hard to get into. I hardly use my desktop nowadays, I'm mostly on my laptop in bed so I can't even use it without quite a bit of effort. Considering I never used it for much more than a sketchbook anyway, I think this might be a solid option to get back into art a bit. Might sell the cintiq, will look into my options more. Thanks for the video.

I have the mini and love it too. I'm not too artsy but trying t o learn procreate. I also have an iPad air and love it too. If you are wanting a bigger iPad try and hold off a couple months as sometime this spring they are ALL supposed to be getting a refresh and that means that if you are wanting to save some $$$ the older models will drop in price when the new ones are released. Or you can just go for the new one if your budget allows. Love your video and plan to watch more on your channel.

I bought myself a 22" XP Pen display "tablet" for my first digital drawing tablet, and honestly I regret jumping straight in with such a large screen. I've barely used it at all since purchase, as it's just too large and unwieldy and I can't exactly TAKE it anywhere with me. Now I'm thinking of getting an iPad mini to give digital drawing on a screen with a pen another go (I've gone back to using my mouse again, and sketchpads when out and about). To me, the iPad mini makes more sense as a tablet than their larger offerings like the iPad Air which are still too unwieldy in size (honestly, if you're going to get one THAT big you're better off just getting a Macbook). Thank you for making this video, I don't mind the fewer layers as I work mostly with Vector art so layers aren't quite as vital, and I also don't mind the smaller memory because getting into the practise of backing up my files/artwork more often is a GOOD habit to develop! My favourite thing about the iPad mini is that it's more like my small drawing pads that I tend to favour anyway (I don't tend to do big art pieces except for the rare occasional desktop wallpaper).

I do use the apple pencil, as far as I know you wouldn't get any of the pressure sensitivity that you get with the apple pencil and for me, that's one of the major selling points.

Yes and no, but mostly no. Simply because it's mini. I used to do digital art as a hobby, but i don't really do that anymore. However i still like playing games, so i downgraded from ipad pro m1 to ipad mini.
It's doable, if you're willing to compromise. 11" screen ipad is the sweet spot for digital art, imho. Unless you're using ipad mini as your second tab, the main priority should be the bigger one for digital art.

Hi. Both iPads can run Procreate. The iPad 10 is cheaper, and has a larger screen. However, it uses “Apple Pencil USB’, which doesn’t have pressure sensitivity. That’s a serious drawback for digital sketching / painting. The iPad Mini advantages are more powerful processor, an antireflective coating, which helps if drawing outside, and compatibility with Apple’s best pencil, the “Apple Pencil 2”.
If you don’t mind a small inconvenience, you can get an adapter for the iPad 10, which will let you use Apple Pencil 1. I use the Apple Pencil 1 with my 2018 iPad Pro and it has pressure sensitivity and does everything else I need for digital art. So you can definitely make an iPad 10 work for you, if you’d prefer the larger screen. Good luck with your decisions!
