What is Laryngeal Focus? |

  • Primarily used within the Speech Pathology community, the term Laryngeal Focus recognises when the voice user seems to be concentrating much of their vocal effort towards their throat, more specifically, their larynx.

    Wow! Interesting info thanks Dr Dan.
    I'm having to gently 'relearn' my throat singing actions following recent neck surgery, and possibly over doing the larynx to compensate for a few temporarily 'missing' throat nerves/muscles. Great tip that I can work to spread the load between the four areas as you described.

    Interesting! Now I'm afraid I'm doing this while trying to actually use "pharingeal resonance", are those similar in terms of achieved sound? I'd like to hear an example to listen to what laryngeal focus may sound like so I avoid it...
