I can feel the love, very nice to have your brother on the channel. Can't have enough rig rundowns and opinions on working gear, great to hear his perspective and kind of him to share his working rig and sound lips of his band!
you know whats beautiful here along the great talent that you guys share? its the brotherly love and bond that you two have GOD bless you two keep it up and share thanks
Put a second band together with your brother, nows the time. I’ve played with both my sons, EP, gigs. There’s something really special about that. Still gig with younger one in Nashville.
I am the only one in my family who plays anything, I wish my brother played something just so I could be in a band with him. His daughter is learning violin so I am hoping to play music with her someday.
Hey guys, Loved the episode and glad I tuned-in. My brother and me share the same age interval as you guys and love the chatter about tunes and gear. When Jon mentioned the talk-box I remembered that as young guys we were thrown out of church for introducing the voice-bag in our first all-original gospel rock set. That was all she wrote. We were whisked out of the sanctuary once our lead singer sang, "Je-sus loves you," The voice bag gave the lyric an added emphasis and was all the elder board needed to break out the holy hook. Me and my little brother R.J. love all the same things in music and life and you guys are a great inspiration. Thanks, Rick, for all the love! perfect peace, jimi paradee
I grew up in Rochester and spent several years playing in cover bands there in the early 80’s. The basement practice space, the set lists, and those familiar upstate accents - I am having a major flashback watching this! Cheers Jon, crank it up! Rick, love your channel!
Just getting around to this almost 2 years after-the-fact. Great 'raw' vid with a guy that's like most of us (I assume)...gigging bars into our 40s and 50s as a hobby.
Cool to see your brother is musical too. My brother and I both play too, and it is great bond that we share from childhood. Can definitely see the resemblance between you guys.
Hi Beato family! I just wont to say...dude you are awesome and we love your work even here in Split,Croatia on great Adriatic coast!! Good luck from Bud
Totally. I relate so much to both--jazz guitar music performance in college, gigging musician now tweaking my pedal/amp setup----thank you Beato brothers!! Rick, you've been such an inspiration--get the two of you on here more often! The counterpoint is great.
100% agree with down sizing to manageable amps and cabs. I did my back in several times when lifting and twisting to squeeze a 1960b cab and Marshall 100w head into the back of the car. Lighter, smaller, and easier is always better.
I always find about these afterwards. Definitely see the family resemblance, cool to find out Rick comes from a musical family. My brother and I both play music too. One of the bonds we shared since childhood. I thought it was funny the one person that said your brother looks like Harrison Ford.
Sweet Madame Blue! Been one of my faves since back in the day, a total classic ballad and oddly relevant decades later. Rick you're funny giving your bro a hard time for playing this stuff since before it was retro. Jon and I would have great fun playing, or at least I would! I remember meeting Dennis DeYoung when I was 16 working at a movie theater. I played my guitar with him for what seemed like 10 minutes while his date stood by in high heels and waited for us.
I like these uploads. Just being you with your family. I envy you a bit but I only whish you and your family only the best. May you all be healthy and happy as long as possible. Thank you for your content Mr. Beato
My story is similar to Jon's-I used a Peavey Triple X for years that sounded great but weighed a ton. I then found a Fender Deluxe Vintage 1x12" combo that was used but sounded great and was much smaller than the Peavey. In the last few months, I've started to bring my iPad and use Amplitube and other amp sims, and go straight into the house PA. The iPad goes on a stand to my right, and I only use a tuner and a boost for pedals. (I'm mostly a blues guy and don't use that many effects) The ultimate in compact
Speaking of Upstate NY cover bands. I had a really good cover band (The Jury) with Long Island musicians at SUNY Oneonta when I was getting my B.S. there back in the late 80's. 30 years later, all of a sudden they get a hold of me on Facebook. I moved out West in the mid 90's but they've been going to the alumni weekends together for like 10 years and I never knew about it. We're going to the one this June, and we're going to play! Surreal 😯.
Rick that was great and wonderful to meet your brother, John. I kept thinking, “Who does he look like?”, aside from the “family” resemblance, and then it hit me. He looks like Harrison Ford! God bless! ✌🏼/❤️
I'm practically a noob compared to you but for my classic rock/metal/party-coverband I use a JCA 100HDM with 4x12 Creambacks as main rig, but have a Boss Katana-100 for when I need something lighter. Marhall DSL20HR is my practice amp at home, but I have a Yamaha THR-10 for practising in other places. The Boss Katana-100 has all effects built in and is controlled by the GA-FC pedal so no need for pedals using that one. For the JCA 100 I use Eq, Reverb and Gate in the loop and a mini-pedalbord in front with mostly minipedals: Tuner, Chorus, TS, Kentaur clone, Volume and Delay. I use a VOX wah in front of the pedals. Oh, and I use the JCA channel switch pedal to occasionally switch to the massively Soldano distorting-channel. That is all and I feel perfectly happy with the gear, guitars on the other hand can never be too many but the one thing nagging me is time. There would need to be sooo much more time for rehearsing :D
It would be really cool to see you guys play together in a video. Pick a song and trade riffs and solos back and forth. Gigging with small, light equipment is a really smart move. Save your back.
WOW - your brother looks a lot like one of my favorite singers, Donald Fagen...a good looking guy...hehehe...and you're not so bad, yourself, Rick...this reminds me that I still need to complete a couple Steely Dan covers that I've been working on, 'Babylon Sisters' and 'Deacon Blues'!!! 💗💗💗
Just finished watching the video...that was so awesome hearing your brother play...he rocks...the two of you should jam together sometime...oh, and I have that very same 'Asti Cinzano' print hanging in my living room!!! 💗💗💗
Brother to Brother. Lol. This was great! So cool that your family is so into music. Hey, I can hit the high notes on Working Man--maybe I'll crash their gig : D
I use 2 vintage Princeton Reverbs, or 2 Trace Elliot Velocettes, depending on if I want an American or Brit sound. (Or combine them for an interesting mix). I use pedals (Strymon, Kingsely, Arion etc) for effects in front of them. Amazing. Light, loud enough, and great, clear tones with very little mush. ( I think I've finally found a way to keep the Velocettes running, haha). They take up about the same space as a big 1X12 amp - and offer stereo goodness.
...A channel I didn't know existed.....I'm having to archive every episode....When you are faced with Beethoven, don't fight it, just store it....each one is priceless....
Rick you should definitely do The Allman Brothers - In Memory of Elizabeth Reed. I feel like that song highlights each and every instrument extremely well. Also, the song itself is amazing in it’s structure!
Stickers on the guitar? Oh Rick that must hurt lol Seriously though this was great content and your bro seems like a cool guy. You guys have music in your genes
My silverface Fender Super Reverb wasn't heavy, so much as bulky; people would look at it and decide I was too loud. I found a 30W Laney AOR 1X12 with 2 6V6s, plugged my modeling pedalboard into the FX return, and that's been my gig rig for decades, though I'm on my second floor modeler. Functionally, it's a monitor, and the house gets a tap from the pedalboard, but plenty loud enough for small to medium clubs and rehearsals. The only knob on the Laney that's functional is the presence knob, which is fortunate, because the gain and tone stack of the AOR series is stupid hard to dial in.
Dream setup: 1 guitar, 1 amp, 1 Cabinet, 1 pedal! Line 6 USA JTV-89F, Line 6 Spider V Mk II 240w RMS Head (with 4 inch internal speakers at 40w RMS), Yamaha 2x12", Line 5 FBV3 floor controller. I have many others but my list above can literally do it all... Line 6 USA JTV-89F Guitar can be several different instruments including 12 string, Baritone, Sitar, Banjo, violin, piano, synthesizer, choir... anything you can download! Mk II Spider V amp can sound exactly like "all other" amps/cabs combinations and any effects you want, if not already inside, anything can be downloaded. The Line 6 4x12" is strained by the 200w RMS of head unit power (plus 40w RMS into built-in 4-inch speakers) so I got the Yamaha w/ mismatched “Eminence Legend1218” and “The Tonker 12" drivers, (switchable mono or stereo operation, you can choose which driver to partner with which amp). FBV3 footboard controls it all! The guitar costs more than the rest of the gear put together, and very much worth it (even if like me, you have to go with the foreign-made JTV90F Bstock, which is still my best guitar).
I can feel the love, very nice to have your brother on the channel. Can't have enough rig rundowns and opinions on working gear, great to hear his perspective and kind of him to share his working rig and sound lips of his band!

Lots of musical talent in the Beato family. Thanks for sharing Rick.

"Had to get to that chord" love it!
Thanks for sharing. Great insight.
John is saving the goods for the gig ! Loved the sneak peak! You guys are such brothers , great to see your family featured on your channel!
Talented and impressive family. Thank you for this. Glad to see the struggle to get it all working is real and not just me. 🎸🤓
Put a second band together with your brother, nows the time. I’ve played with both my sons, EP, gigs. There’s something really special about that. Still gig with younger one in Nashville.

....Don't think he's good enough to play with Rick (just my observation. Rick is pretty damned good)
Boy do you guys look a lot alike!!
Just came back here last night after watching this the first time and relearned alot of classics. Thanks Jon and Rick.

Great Rig Rundown.

Watching this before I head out for a gig. As always, thanks for the content!
Really nice job guys. I liked it and it's good seeing brothers playing together.(Well in this case not actually playing) but playing
And black tee shirts run in the family.
🤘 🤘
That was cool!! Been listening to Stone in Love all summer. So cool you can just go right into it.
I played with my brother in a band for over ten years. This reminds of that time, lots of fun.....
Congratulations Rick! You have a nice brother !
I practice at home with a Mesa Stiletto and gig with a 25w Mini Rec Mesa lunch box. Love everything about that little amp.
What a treat...thank you for sharing
This was a great episode. I second the comment I saw about you two doing a record and call yourselves the Beatos.
So,cool! Great video rick,john,
I just love this. Had to hear it again.
Hi Beato family! I just wont to say...dude you are awesome and we love your work even here in Split,Croatia on great Adriatic coast!! Good luck from Bud
Your bro ROCKS! Kicks mad licks. 😎✌❤
Lol....Rick that was great ....love the back n forth banter between you two ....you should do more videos together.....cheers fellows 🍺🍺

@@craigtylerbowman9087 ....his brother Johns like a 55 year old guitar playing nerd ....like me ...lol
Wow! What a loop! I want that little dark Orange. 😊🙂

I wish I would’ve had a brother to jam with! Very cool.
Love the roasting of the siblings.
"Some we actually remember too". Lovely
I like Jon kept it down to earth..no shiny show offs...well done!
That's Jon! A great player and an even better person.
Good stuff. Cool insight!
I feel the love here guys. Nice.
Good to have a Brother.

I haven't heard that Triumph tune in decades.....awesome stuff....looking for Triumph now.
This was, as Rick says, "Killer!" Thanks, John!
Rush, Journey, ZZ Top, Triumph, Van Halen, etc. great setlist for guitar!
Rick I love your channel!
Ahhhhhh, Richard you are so fortunate to have had such a lovely talented Aunt. Penny Rose = wonderful. RIP
Thanks Rick and John...I had two brothers...neither were musical...to share with...count your blessings...

Fender blues junior for me
Great video. John Rocks.
Baby Blue is one of the greatest power pop tunes ever recorded!
Rick put a link in the description for your brothers band. Thanks for all the videos 🤘

Triumph one of the most underrated unappreciated bands of all time.
While I dont watch that often because I dont have that much time for such long videos to spare, I love your charisma rick!

Triummph...nice, always loved them guys Riks a killer guy.
Was REALLY hoping for a Snark tuner on the headstock! Missed opportunity... Ha! Great video!
YEEEEESSSSSS Night Ranger is one of my favorites of all time! I always though their guitar was really underrated.
Dude....he called them Night RIDER twice!
The solo on Night Rangers' "Don't tell me you love me" is... Amazing!
great meeting the brother! would love to hear the band! how many vocalists? that's a hell of a list!

Great episode! Man, you guys could be twins for sure.
Holy crap, the groove-yard of forgotten hits. I would love to spend a night listening to them. New York that's funny too. Cover bands are cool.
Good tunes!
Soon to be a UA-cam hit sensation .... Jon Beato!
Brother to Brother. Lol.
This was great! So cool that your family is so into music. Hey, I can hit the high notes on Working Man--maybe I'll crash their gig : D
I love that John's ringtone was the theme from Final Fantasy 3/6. Don't know if he knows that or not, but I dig it.
I play in an 80s cover band, and for the U2 delay I use a Wampler Ethereal. Really good pedal and covers a lot of territory.
I do sweet Madam Blue on my 12 string. Great Song
"4 years younger" "No, 5 years younger" LOL!
Love those 2 fellows They have great chemistry Maybe add him to the show Ric 👍
