Very nice, and we’ll documented. I like the fact that you explain why do it this way. And calling out the tool size gives me the ability to audit if I have the right tools before beginning the job! Nice work!
Glad it was helpful!
This is exactly what I needed today. The custom parts I ordered for my beloved R1200ST just arrived. I'm taking a day off from work and heading to the garage. Thank you!
Glad I could help
Nice straight forward video.
Great job somebody that gets? Right to the tutorial. And doesn't tell a million stories and take up our precious time lol. Thanks for the upload good stuff
Glad to help!
Always helpful if you add the proper torque so viewers don’t have to look it up.
This applies to many models. the torques are going to differ.
Great video....thank you! Have you or any of your subscribers ever encountered a problem with the driveshaft Torsion Dampener failing and causing what would seem to be a slipping clutch?
Well done. I gotta' say, nice to see someone working on a bike without gloves. I see a lot of videos of this for the GT, what about the RT? Is there anything different? Even with the tupperware removed, there just seems to be less room on the RT. The transmission boot is fine on my RT. Do I really need to pull the swingarm to simply clean and lube the splines? Or do you recommend remove the swingarm regardless because it give a little more room to work?
I'm about to buy a 2007 R1200RT with 14k miles. It is showroom condition but no maintenance records available. Is there any reason you know of to avoid this model or year RT? I plan to lube the front and rear splines as soon as I get it. Any thoughts or advice is appreciated. I'm subscribed and like all videos. Also a well satisfied parts customer.
Good job man!
Nice video. Thanks. I would clean my hands in between the steps so I dont put my greasy fingerprints on the aloy.... Cheers
This is a great video.
But I think you left out the part where the new rubber boot goes on!
Thank you. This will save me time and money when servicing my 2007 RT.
I do have a request for a maintenance video: I've got a headlight wire that shorted at the bulb. I've trashed the old plastic connectors and installed ceramic bulb connectors. One light still refuses to illuminate. I need to trace the wire (checking for shorts) back to the computer. How do I remove the tank safely?
@4:30 you said that you would link the spline lube in the description. You lied. Sad.
Check the bmw r1100 clutch replacement video it’s linked there
Are any of the nuts/bolts the kind that need to be replaced in this process?
I'm pretty sure I grenaded the transmission in my RnineT, I'd welcome an opportunity to chat, if you have the time!
Does this video work for the wet heads? Also do you seal the boots with grease to frame parts?
yes it will work on wetheads, and no sealing it with grease. it should seal by itself
Molybdenum grease I think
sounds about right.
Would you recommend using the same lube for old vintage airhead splines ?
Yes, I use it on all BMW Clutches, Driveshaft's, Transmission and Rear Drive
What is the spline lube that you are using?
