Wow, very well done video. Excellent teacher. The small bits of information, like knowing how to tell if the front spline was in deep enough on the re-install...yep...well done.
Nice video, lots of videos out there about rear splines but this is the first one I saw where front splines also covered, some great tips for getting things aligned, Thank you. Just one correction, I cringed when the paralever bolt was torqued to 100 Nm in case it broke, the correct torque value for this bolt is 56 Nm. It was referred to in the video as the swingarm bolt, this is the larger one below that the drive swings on and this is 100 Nm
The exploded view of this assembly shows a snap ring on the gear box shaft. You can see the undercut on the splined shaft and the inside diameter spines. I think the snap ring gets destroyed at dis-assembly. 8$ part at max bmw
@@tonylittle1370 I installed the shaft today. I put the split ring in the inside diameter groove. Once the female end is on the shaft I just kept tapping it on with a rubber mallet. The shaft has a tapered end then a groove. the taper will pass the ring no problem, the groove will envelope it. When it's all the way on only the end of the spline cut will show. Good to go another 12000 miles.
Snap ring did not get destroyed. I found it in the inside diameter groove and reused it today. I have a new one coming, ad ordered it before i found the original
I know the rear of the drive shaft should be done every 6000 miles since we are servicing it anyway but how often should the front be done? Great video by the way
Kluber Isoflex Topas NB52 or something similar should be used around the face of the boots.

How do you install snap Ring? Install shaft first? Looks really tight.

Mine will never go off road and barely in the rain unless I’m caught in it so I’ll stick to 10000… thanks for the advice..
