Oh Lord, this is Hill County, Texas where I was born and raised. I graduated from Hillsboro High School with the defendant’s attorney, Patrick Dohoney. I unfortunately understood most of what the defendant said!! 🤣🤪😂
I understood everything he said too lol but I’m from Bama. I have really bad tinnitus and can’t understand most people.. the deeper, louder the voice is, the better I can understand what they are saying. The judges voice is perfect. I always understand deep southern mens voices. Though this guys voice isn’t that deep, I think the headphones helped me to hear him better. I’m not sure how to feel about this though 😂😂 too bad my husband and 2 of my kids don’t have a way to speak to me through headphones 🤣

At the age of 58 years old, I still find a need to check the house to make sure all windows are secured, doors, etc. Alarms do not stop the feeling of not being totally safe in our homes. I understood the victim impact statement that the violation stays with a person.
Damn a white girl in what gang? Why would u be in a gang if your white. I dont think she was in a gang she was hanging out with wrong crowd. Parents should explain real life to her.
I stand by every word Mr Phillips says. I don't know what they are, but I stand by them. I'm not sure what the jury will make of someone who looks like they've3 eaten their own teeth
You have to wonder about the mental capacity of a defendant who, after dire warning, both elects to have a jury decide his punishment AND to represent himself.
Defendant: [Inaudible] Judge Harris: Well Mr. Philli- Defendant: [Inaudible] Someone should order a transcript of this hearing on April Fools day next year.
"Your Honor, my client is popular and super sorry, and she has a job at a restaurant, so she shouldn't have to suffer consequences for her active role in a premeditated violent crime". Disgusting.
I mean to be fair it seems like she's really turned her life around. Not like "got a job at McDonalds a couple weeks ago" but like legitimately turned her life around. That coupled with her snitching on the others in the case goes a long way. Especially since she wasn't the one with the gun. She made horrible decisions when she was younger but if she's grown from that and can become a productive member of society then I'm all for it. And if she steps an inch out of line in the next 15 years, lock her ass up lol.
Is this guy "Gabby Johnson"? That sounds like pure "frontier gibberish" to me. Well said my man, well said. Judge Harris, if Mr. Phillips is going to have a jury trial, I think the jury is going to need a translator. Rather than focusing on whether Mr. Phillips had "appropriate clothes" for the trial, they should appoint a family member or a friend (if he has any friends) to help interpret what he is saying. Seriously, it looks like Mr. Phillips has problems with his jaw. Maybe too many drugs over a long, long period of time.
That first guy is either 1) really smart and amazing at pretending he's stupid, or 2) stupid and really good at being stupid. Either way, he's going to prison for the rest of his life, which sucks.
Well, one thing Mr. Phillips said needed translating, but not because of his accent. It's a fairly universal phrase when referring to court-appointed counsel. It goes, "He hasn't done a thing that I asked him to." And that translates to, "I'm still in jail and I don't like it here." 8-)
The defendant’s attorney in the sentencing at the end was so awkward. My goodness, I cringed several times listening to him drone on and on about how wonderful his client was, and his expressions, laughter, etc, was inappropriate several times. You could tell the defendant was a little uncomfortable, too. 😣😵💫🫤
.. when you read Love Talk with Mike, it's time to go back to bed! Enjoyed the compilation as all of the others before. Wondering which one will get the Emmy's!
Glad someone else mentioned it. I couldn't take it. Brutal. Someone needs to have a quiet word with this guy - better to pause and sort yourself out then link your sentences with a long string of uh ... um ... um ... eh...
Mike, I agree with you completely. I had the same reaction to her Olive Oyl hairdo and cliche' courtroom attire. She wasn't completely honest. Her attorney had to tell her what to wear? Clearly.
Yes that was awkward. I don’t know how to put this but having been an attorney a long time things can go that way very easily unless you are disciplined and guard against it. I would never have done what that attorney did or discussed it openly in court. I’m not saying he did anything but he definitely left that impression. That is absolutely strictly forbidden in this business. It was hard for me to watch having spent decades avoiding that very thing.
@@LawTalkWithMike My daughter divorced her attorney husband because she thought he was cheating with a client which he denied but a year after the divorce, he married that client. Coincidental ??? Lol
Your spot on about the fact that she hasn’t changed I can say that I am very good at being manipulator and I can spot A manipulator. And she’s really good at it and she’ll continue to be good at it and she’s probably never ever ever gonna get in trouble for much of anything because I guarantee those glasses, suit, and her pulled back hair is a bunch of bullshit.
I’ve lived 17 years in the Deep South. I unfortunately understood most of his rambling. 😂 Edit: I wish I’d made the live. I would have been happy to interpret for the crew. Sorry I missed it!
Yes, she did. The other lady was the one who admitted coming up with the plan, but she was a big part of it. I'm definitely conflicted on this case. I do think she's done everything right SINCE committing her crimes. She ultimately confessed and took responsibility, helped the prosecution convict the men who committed the armed robbery, and has apparently lived a clean life over the past 4 years or so since. That being said, I do think there should be a legitimate punishment for the crimes committed and probation and what amounts to 20 days in the county jail seems... insufficient for playing a role in a very nasty home invasion/robbery. The two men (who I realize committed FAR more serious crimes) received 30-40'ish years, while she gets probation. I'll bet the other lady also gets a short jail sentence (if any) as well. If any man committed their exact same crimes, they'd likely get at least a few years in prison.
I think you're wrong about her Mike. I think she was over her head and got scared straight. She flipped immediately, and stuck to probation without incident - that's not the behavior of someone whose mentality is as you described. I ran with similar groups back in my early 20s. I was just lucky to never be caught. Eventually I realized my actions and friends were idiotic, so I matured, went to college, and established a career in a field that is not easy to get into. People change, especially if they grew up in families and communities like her.
Mike- please recognize that self-preservation is at the base of positive functioning for every single person. You don’t start doing “the right thing” because you want to just because, you begin consciously making to better choices as you discover negative repercussions for bad behavior. It’s why the worst teenagers are always the ones that didn’t have consistent appropriate consequences for minor lying, cheating, stealing, aggression etc. Is she fixed? Not yet. But she may have started the process of recognizing that she does want to live a life without jail, court, etc, therefore you have to choose behavior that makes that more possible.
All you have to do is to look at this defense attorney to know hes a slime ball and she doesn't look sorry at all. She messed up peoples lives and should pay for it, and her speech is BS.
As my father lay dying on a hospital bed in the emergency room, two nurses stood over his palpitating body chit-chatting about a recent barbecue and smiling and laughing. I realized that they had become inured to death. Maybe they had no choice. As I listened to Mike laughing about this lost soul preparing to commit himself to life in prison I have the same sense about him. Fascinating as this hearing is, I fail to see the humor in it.
Ok, I wasn't enjoying the long hearing of the saint/angel who'd changed her life in minutes... but thank you for the closing of this one...
