Fr. I've seen Sony get hacked multiple times a year for over a decade. They have the most pathetic security system in the gaming market.
Last big Sony hack was 2011. And 77k steam accounts get hacked every month. But I don't see people leaving steam. Complete non-issue and people will get over it.

Sony got hacked the same year and compromised every single (75+ million) PSN ID with passwords written in plaintext. There’s the 2014 Sony Pictures hack. They even got hacked last year, multiple times. It’s not comparable.

Linking a steam account with a playstation account is not about safety. Its about sharing meta data of steam users with Sony. When accounts are "free" it's because your activity is for sale.

They literally did mandate it from the start. Or did you not read either the Steam requirements (it says it there) or the giant page saying you need to link your PSN account? Yes, sony let you skip the requirement due to a technical issue on their end, with the giant and stated caveat that you would be required to link it when they fixed the problems. The problems are now fixed so they are doing what they literally stated from day 1 they would be doing.

I was LITERALLY getting ready to spend some tax refund money on a PS5 for Stellar Blade. This just reminded me how crappy Sony is and made me love my PC all over again. Thanks Sony, for allowing me to keep a lot of money in my pocket, and out of yours.

I was even contemplating running Linux on VM to isolate the kernel. But now with t he PSN account. It sealed the deal. The more I wait and don't fall for their tricks, the more I gain in the end.

Its time to move on i hate to say it. Just turned 50 been playing games since i was 8. The internet has ruined games, its a shame getting to play with people anytime from anywhere was the selling point. Now look at the monster its turnedv itself into. Microtransactions, battle passes that turn you into to a zombie thst logs in everyday to finish what you paid for. Infunished ganes at launch. Patches that might or most of the time ruin the fun because developers cant balance there games. Censorship and digital control due to a stores not selling physical copies. Its been real had a blast met some really great people along the way but im out.

I uninstalled the game and contacted them about my discontentment regarding the situation. Do I mind creating and/or linking the account to a PSN account if there would be some incentive to do so? Nah. I mean, it's annoying at best, but not a deal breaker. *That being said*, enforcing it and preventing Steam users to play the game if they don't do it? That's fcking absurd. And don't get me started on the fact that some countries can't get PSN accounts easily, and Sony security breaches... gtfo

Even if somehow Steam will refuse to issue refunds, this is a massive blow for Helldivers. Soyny doesn't need more blows, they're already in the grave. And the disgusting callousness they have, trying to justify this move, that doesn't help gamers, doesn't help the game, it only helps Soyny pad their PSN subscriber numbers after they lost so many with the Stellar Blade boycott.

I have like 60 hours in HD2 and have experienced literally 0 griefing. Once I accidentally shot one of my teammates and he let me know in chat that he wasn’t happy but that was on me for misfiring. That’s just the way it is. This is nonsense.

I've adopted waiting 6 months before buying a new game that everyone is hyping. Got burned to many times with updates, day one censor patches, and broken games on release. I was looking forward to buying Helldivers 2 l, but since I don't want a soyny account, I won't be purchasing the game now.

My theory is because of the mass cancelation of PSN's in the Stellar blade backlash.

I think this might also be a sort of retaliation for all that controversy with Stellar Blade probably seeing numbers drop for subs to PSN so they want to force at least the sign up for PSN accounts so the number is up for the next Shareholder report.

I remember their entire websites got hacked and some accounts were used and purchased games and asked sony for refund and they denied. And sony even blocked people who cancelled transactions via their credit card company

I love how Sony dispatched a competitive PvP PR statement about toxic behavior protection to a cooperative PvE title, the most toxicity you get in helldivers 2 is being kicked from matches because you are either team killing the host or bringing in team killing equipment, the idea that anyone has any chance to harrass you in chat while enemies are rushing them down non-stop, is simply hilarious.

While I definitely don't love this I created my first PSN account (never owned Playstation and never will) a week before Helldivers 2 launched. There was info for that on the Steam page so I thought it's mandatory back then. It was announced as an official requirement pre-launch. So I linked my Steam with my newly created PSN account on Day 1. I am surprised that this is becoming a drama 3 months later.

Yeah, but you had to make the account upfront and you could just not buy the game of you could return it right away. It's not like you weren't able to play for 4 months without it and then they add it in later on.

Steam refused my refund. I never even launched the game. They said it's passed the 14 day limit. Scumbags
Steam will usually refund you if you have played less than 2 hours or bought it less than 24 days ago. That's the general rule, sometimes they make exceptions, but it's rare. It's not Steam's fault you didn't keep to the agreement.

You probably abuse the refund system if Steam has ALREADY responded to your refund request AND denied it. That is pretty damn fast response time which indicates a bot was used, likely because your account is flagged as one that abuses the refund system. Steam is known for allowing refunds well past the limit so long as the person isn't abusing the system.

I purchased the game from Steam on March 27. Because I don't own a Playstation and I don't want a Playstation Network account, I requested a refund. Because of the time limit for refund requests, I doubt they'll cough up the dough.
Already got an answer: "We will not be granting a refund at this time. The date of the purchase exceeds 2 weeks (our refund policy maximum)".
The next best thing you can do is remove the game from your account in the Support page. But I'd hold off on doing that until Sony makes their stance clear, because you'll have to buy the game again if you remove it. Only nuke it from your PC as a last resort.
