That map (and that position in particular) is wonderful for defensive plays against overwhelming numbers. A single heavy/super cruiser or battleship can hold that entire flank with the right position, either in A or hugging the island west of A, so long as the opposing team are terrified of their own shadows. It's a lot of fun too.
The only time I have been called a cheater was in World of Tanks, I started shooting an M6 in my Crusader. The M6 stopped in the open, but then went undetected, so I fired another shot just to see if he was still there. My shell never hit dirt, meaning he was still there, so I kept firing. The dumbass never moved and eventually died, and he proceeded to call me a hacker. The good news is, I actually showed him what he did wrong and he became a better player.

I often wonder if some of the people playing these coal and steel ships are playing on someone else account!, because it takes a lot of time and experience to get these ships. I was up against a guy in a Somers recently in my Daring and he kept trying to hit me with wide spread torps, and I thought how does such a bad player acquire such a good ship?
The problem of doing nothing, is people do nothing when they need to something. All too often I see a couple of cruisers, a couple of battleships, and a destroyer hiding outside a cap circle. Then the enemy team takes two caps wipes out the other side of the map. Then get the team in a crossfire. And gets wiped out. All too often I'm seeing ships either trying to cap too early with no support. Or everyone just hiding on the edge of the map and lets the enemy win by grabbing all the capture points. It's very frustrating.
PC and Console are probably different, but there's a good reason for camping outside the cap circle on consoles. WoWSL often sets up incentives which encourage players NOT to work as a team. The "daily boost" missions, for example, routinely include something like "Get 10 capture, assist, or defended ribbons". Sitting outside a cap circle can clear that in a single match with 10 Defended ribbons - getting 10 Capture ribbons can take forever. Same thing goes for "Set fire to 10 ships" - and you'll see ships sticking with HE when they really should switch to AP. In short, if you are trying to clear the daily or weekly boost, winning a match is often irrelevant.

This is my biggest failing when I play WoWs. I hate sitting back or waiting when no one else seems to be capping etc. So I will go ahead and try to do that even if in a second line or kiting ship and end up dead far too often.
That Sommers reminded me of the Z-23 and Halland that thought it would be a good idea to get into a sub 7km gun fight with my Colbert, 14 seconds later and they had both learned just how bad of an idea that was ^^..
It took me a while to realise that the little icon that looks like a couple of mountains in the middle-right of the UI is telling you one or more of your turrets is - aiming at a mountain. Very useful little piece of info to not waste a salvo at a critical moment.

Bernard Cornwell's The Last Kingdom series of books are very similar to this game. There is aloo a TV series if anyone wants to see more. I know there is Vikings too. I loved how the game has modern maps of the British Isles haha. Looking forward to seeing Jorvik.

Jingles seems brighter and more happy , maybe a new kitchen and home cooked food might be the reason . Or a few glass's off Mrs. Mahogany's old foot rot fungus red wine or two might help as well .
Very appropriate for the Petropavlosk; it isn't that great early on. However it's the late game calvary; I've never been able to turn a crap situation around in other ships like I can in the Petro. Being able to bully ANY battleship if it's out of position. However, the win-rate is still questionable because most teams melt before the optimal situation can be met, or you are too aggressive and you can't use it's abilities to the best.
The reason why the Hindenburg at 12:07 fired only one torpedo-broadside could have been because the torpedo-tubes on one side could have been destroyed (not by omfalos but perhaps by one of his teammates). This always happens in the worst possible situation, no matter how durable your tubes should be because of certain captain skills and equiped modules to increase their survivability. I don't know how often some of my charges against enemy BBs were ruined because of a lucky secondary hit on the torp launchers.
Had a similar experience on this map. I was also waiting inside the A cap for the enemy ships to sail inside and they knew that there was an Alaska inside. The Musashi was quite suprised that I could take her out with two salvos, the Roon was counting on its tropedos to much I guess and the Iowa seemed to suicide becuse it was on low health anyway. 169.7k damage which is my personal damage record. Yes, I am under average with my stats. But when people sail broadside within 5 km even :Lee: or :Martinengo: would take them out with multiple citadels. Don't do this. Not even in a BB when you face a heavy cruiser. When you miss to kill the cruiser because of bouncing shells, the cruiser will at least shoot twice before you can get your next salvo.
a while back i had a game where i was playing Shimakaze, I launched all my torps and had 1minute+ until my torps were up, and Petro showed up within 3km of me in smoke, i ended up playing chicken with it and escaped with nearly full hp, ended up sailing right next to it and its guns couldnt shoot me since we were less than half meter apart.
I was playing on WoWS Legends ( Console) and I had a message from someone telling me I was a filthy cheater...Thought it was pretty funny, he was in a tier 4 German Destroyer, had overextended, popped his smoke because he saw 2 British tier 5 Crusiers & Japanese destroyer coming, lit him up with Hydro, and inevitably killed him. Because this idiot couldn't understand how we had spotted him from inside his smokescreen. XD
Two perfectly broadside ships. Salvo #1 on the Yamato, 5 citadels. Salvo #2 on the broadside Stalingrad.... 3 overpens, 2 pens and a bounce. Russian cruisers are totally balanced.
But it can rotate everywhere along the Z-axis of the ship. People who say 'I'll turn my life around 360°' are morons, but the turrets indeed rotate 360°, and thus can be pointed at any given direction (horizontally.)

Obviously he meant more like.. 270 ish. Depends on the ship and the angles allowed but if you’re angling and not giving broadside and you switch tacks while advancing that’s roughly what it is. On a ship with good firing angles can be 300.

Flamu often talks about baiting the radar cruiser to use up his consumables. Who knows what goes on in another person's head? But I am certain that guy was all out and not just being selfish.

Jingles two things: One your volume is so quiet and soft we have to turn up our speakers/headphones only to be deafened by any sudden advertisements, and secondly where is your famous custom battle results card?
The Petro got nerfed, no more stealth radar. But your detection is only 100m more than your radar range. So you still can start up your radar when you get spotted, good chance you'll catch them. Ah yes, before I forget: The biggest torpedo salvo of any American DD is on the Benham with 16 torps. Although you need to turn around to fire all of them on one target. So the Somers has the biggest torpedo broadside.
Petro can no longer stealth radar, but the surface detection is 100m larger than the radar range...so it is fairly certain that is you are spotted you can radar whatever is spotting you
Id note the Petro tanks side damage far better than other cruisers for the same reason the Kremlin does: look at that freeboard. There are kayaks that stick up further in the water.
It is always important to remember priorities... although it would be nice if the team you're stuck with actually recognized what PRIORITY actually meant... Always good to survive other's stupidity and be grateful that the enemy decided to shoot at them rather than you... lol

He'd probably shoot the carrier pigeon halfway through its flight because he'd mistake it for a Stuka.
The Hindenburg misplayed. The Hindenburg is one of the few cruisers which can actually neutralise the Petro.
Bernard Cornwell's The Last Kingdom series of books are very similar to this game. There is aloo a TV series if anyone wants to see more. I know there is Vikings too.
I loved how the game has modern maps of the British Isles haha. Looking forward to seeing Jorvik.

Jingles seems brighter and more happy , maybe a new kitchen and home cooked food might be the reason . Or a few glass's off Mrs. Mahogany's old foot rot fungus red wine or two might help as well .
Very appropriate for the Petropavlosk; it isn't that great early on. However it's the late game calvary; I've never been able to turn a crap situation around in other ships like I can in the Petro. Being able to bully ANY battleship if it's out of position.
However, the win-rate is still questionable because most teams melt before the optimal situation can be met, or you are too aggressive and you can't use it's abilities to the best.

The reason why the Hindenburg at 12:07 fired only one torpedo-broadside could have been because the torpedo-tubes on one side could have been destroyed (not by omfalos but perhaps by one of his teammates). This always happens in the worst possible situation, no matter how durable your tubes should be because of certain captain skills and equiped modules to increase their survivability. I don't know how often some of my charges against enemy BBs were ruined because of a lucky secondary hit on the torp launchers.
Could also be that they hit the island or were on cool down and he didn’t notice. RNGesus knows how many times I’ve done that.
And now we know that part of the reason it's so unpredictable is that module HP is randomized.

The Musashi was quite suprised that I could take her out with two salvos, the Roon was counting on its tropedos to much I guess and the Iowa seemed to suicide becuse it was on low health anyway. 169.7k damage which is my personal damage record. Yes, I am under average with my stats. But when people sail broadside within 5 km even :Lee: or :Martinengo: would take them out with multiple citadels.
Don't do this. Not even in a BB when you face a heavy cruiser. When you miss to kill the cruiser because of bouncing shells, the cruiser will at least shoot twice before you can get your next salvo.
Perhaps the salvo from Petro took out the Hindies torpedo tubes?
a while back i had a game where i was playing Shimakaze, I launched all my torps and had 1minute+ until my torps were up, and Petro showed up within 3km of me in smoke, i ended up playing chicken with it and escaped with nearly full hp, ended up sailing right next to it and its guns couldnt shoot me since we were less than half meter apart.
I was playing on WoWS Legends ( Console) and I had a message from someone telling me I was a filthy cheater...Thought it was pretty funny, he was in a tier 4 German Destroyer, had overextended, popped his smoke because he saw 2 British tier 5 Crusiers & Japanese destroyer coming, lit him up with Hydro, and inevitably killed him. Because this idiot couldn't understand how we had spotted him from inside his smokescreen. XD

Two perfectly broadside ships. Salvo #1 on the Yamato, 5 citadels. Salvo #2 on the broadside Stalingrad.... 3 overpens, 2 pens and a bounce.
Russian cruisers are totally balanced.
the Salvo on the Stalingtad was aimed at the bow, so the armour wasn't strong enough to pen most of them and was not near the citadel

But it can rotate everywhere along the Z-axis of the ship. People who say 'I'll turn my life around 360°' are morons, but the turrets indeed rotate 360°, and thus can be pointed at any given direction (horizontally.)
@@DJVC1985 I think what he was trying to say was that when Jingles stated that it wouldn't have to traverse 360 degrees when changing targets from the port side to starboard, any gun that would need to traverse 360 degrees to change target also wouldn't take any time, as if you did traverse 360 degrees, you'd just end up back where you started.
Obviously he meant more like.. 270 ish. Depends on the ship and the angles allowed but if you’re angling and not giving broadside and you switch tacks while advancing that’s roughly what it is. On a ship with good firing angles can be 300.

It's more than probable the second Petro had also run out of consumables. - the hint was his request for intelligence data.
He never got closer than 12km from an enemy ship or even saw a hint of a Destroyer until the last minute of the battle. What was he using those consumables on?
@@The_MightyJingles You must be new to this game! I‘ve seen GK‘s activating their hydro the second the match started. Most likely he used his radar 3 times without any reason.

@@The_MightyJingles - as the others have pointed out - potatoes will potato. I have run out of radars myself when better players than me in a DD has baited me into using it. Flamu often talks about baiting the radar cruiser to use up his consumables.

The Petro got nerfed, no more stealth radar. But your detection is only 100m more than your radar range. So you still can start up your radar when you get spotted, good chance you'll catch them. Ah yes, before I forget: The biggest torpedo salvo of any American DD is on the Benham with 16 torps. Although you need to turn around to fire all of them on one target. So the Somers has the biggest torpedo broadside.

Petro can no longer stealth radar, but the surface detection is 100m larger than the radar range...so it is fairly certain that is you are spotted you can radar whatever is spotting you

Id note the Petro tanks side damage far better than other cruisers for the same reason the Kremlin does: look at that freeboard. There are kayaks that stick up further in the water.

Just like World of Tanks, Russian weapons are made to be far more effective than they ever were in real life, while other countries weapons are often made less effective.
