I tested it just before recording this episode. At skill 5, success % to refit the Survivor Suit 1.8%(needle), 2.0%(sewing kit), and 2.2%(tailor kit). 10% improvement per tool with all 3 having level 1 sewing quality.
You can also do this to things like solar panels as well. In fact you can do it to every single part except the headlights if I remember correctly. I learned this from taking a mini-tank apart and putting it back together in an RV type of configuration. I completely reinforced it with ton of extra batteries and battery powered weapons. I added all of the crafting and cooking stuff, and a portable hole cargo spot. It even had a fridge. It was my most powerful vehicle ever, and it was completely reinforced except the headlights. Those headlights really did bother me.
I just recently found your channel and wanted to say thanks for your tutorials and tips! Finally I managed to survive for a whole month, instead of duying right in my first day! I wish you had more subscribers!
For people watching this in the future: The Bone Needle is better than the Wooden Needle, but worse than the sewing kit. The Needle is equal to the sewing kit for sewing, but lacks the additional cutting and fine cutting
From 5 years ago? Chesthole was the 1st i used and this might be it. next i used Undeadpeople for a couple years. Might have had one of the MSXotto sets at one time or another also. hard to remember
When it comes to using the best tool, does that affect cutting clothing up for rags, too? I always wondered if I should use a scissors for that, even when I'm always carrying a knife with the same cutting quality. Is there any point to using a scissors?
The quality for sewing always says Sewing 1 IIRC for all so I didn't think it mattered.

A good tip is that the normal repair kit can reinforce too, if you have more duct tape then batteries

It is no longer possible to reinforce metal items. Only cloth can be reinforced now. no more reinforcing weapons or vehicle parts.

The game always uses the 'best' tool you have in range for the job. quality rating is really all that matters once the basic tool requirement is met.
