FUN FACT: The Secret Service was the last bill Lincoln signed into law before he was assassinated. The agent assigned to protect him was across the street at a saloon getting drunk when John Wilkes Booth snuck into Lincoln's private box at Ford's Theater and shot him in the back. So much for the elite force, the SS is supposed to be, eh?

I had a friend who just got into guns and her range instructor could not stop singing the praises of sig. She got 2, a 365 and a 320. Spend over a thousand on both. I let her shoot my variety of milsurp pistols from around the world. She said I opened her eyes to what other guns can do. I tested her sigs. I think I hate the 320 as well. I did like the 366, but it was just a more expensive and larger version of my canik. Yoy never have misinformation Honest Outlaw. Keep the honesty coming.

8 out of 10 SDI graduates say they regret enrolling. That’s crazy. The fact that you know so much about firearms but still push an online gunsmithing program baffles me. You should know more than anyone that gunsmithing is not a skill you can learn from watching videos. You need hands on experience. That’s why the manufacturers stated what they did about the jobs graduates will be getting. SDI will get you the job. But I could go get that same job without going $40,000 in debt. It’s an entry level job available to the public because they still have to train you. You may have an idea of what’s going on, but there’s no real hands on experience, which is kind of the point.

That’s the case for most associates degrees out there tho. I don’t know much about SDI so I’m not trying to defend them but it is just an associates degree, most degrees of the same caliber are only going to get you entry level jobs. Also you need a lower degree before being able to go for a higher one

I own two FN 509s, a full size tactical and a compact tactical. I’ve had both of them for over 5 years, and the reason I bought them is because at the time, a *factory* red dot mount was the key feature I was looking for, and the FN 509 Tacticals were one of a very small selection of pistols with that feature. They’re good guns, but not great guns. I shoot them well, but I should, because I’ve been shooting them for 5 years and I’ve been to several classes with them. Would I buy them again today? Hell no. There are 3 dozen guns on the market today that are at least as good for a lot less money and enjoy much better market support.

On the J Frame. Wilson Combat makes a spring kit for them. My gunsmith highly recommended it when I bought my 638 airweight. They use the 14# spring for reliability. It still takes POUNDS off the trigger pull while maintaining reliability. From what I've read, stock trigger is about 13lbs and mine should be about 8lbs now with the springs and some rounds through it breaking it in. It's very nice and smooth. You can feel the cylinder turn and know exactly when it's going to fire. I'm not sure why I waited so long to buy a revolver. They have so many advantages over semi autos for carry use.

The US military isn't getting the P320 at cost. When you look up the original contract it actually comes out to about $3000 per gun. But the contract also includes nearly unlimited spare parts and repairs for 10 years.
The Army picked Sig because the Glock contract cost even more. Sig already had an American factory set up to make P320s. Glock's bid included the cost of building an American factory as military orders above a certain size are required by law to be made in the United States.
In the end the Army picked the gun from the lowest bidder, after eliminating all but one other contender for having genuinely inferior guns according to their testing. But military requirements aren't civilian requirements. It's ok that you don't like it, you're not the military, you don't have the same needs, so you don't do the same testing. You also don't have a bureaucracy forcing stupid requirements or considerations on you. I don't know if that applies to the selection of the m17, but it would be foolish to assume it doesn't with the world's largest employer.
I daily carry a P320 because I liked the one at my local rental range more than anything else in their cabinet and I found one online, new, for $500. I'm not you, what works for me might not work for you and vice versa. But I still value your opinion because you shoot a lot more than me and try a lot of things I don't. For one of you, glad yours hasn't been a danger. For one of you, modularity didn't mean a chassis system. Notice how only 2 guns in the trials were chassis guns. And considering the fact that glock made it to round 2 with the sig, tells me it didn't need to be a chassis gun to win the trial.
For the last of you, glock lost because sig outbid them as lowest bidder. After they were allowed to readjust their bid. They did it by over $100m, to the point they lost money on the contract. Each m17/18 is somewhere on the scale of $150-300. They made the deal for spare parts and accessories, after the fact, gouging the prices of everything. Those spare mags are probably, I'm just guessing, $200 a piece, the holsters about $600 a piece. Yes each soldier will get a $3000 setup with their service, but each gun is cheap cheap.

this is one I have found. I also found, recently but can't remember where it was, an article discussing this very thing. It came to the conclusion that glock lost because of money, that sig was half the cost; and the conclusion that the trials were rigged from the get go. Not just money swapping hands, and favors, etc. but that the competition was set up with the 320 being what the requirements were based on.

12:02 Glock didn't fail to make a modular gun, Sig just made the price substantially cheaper that they concluded trials before completion because they wanted the much cheaper gun. That's why Glock sued, the trials were not completed.

Unless you are making the grip narrower, then it's not going to fit folks with smaller hands, no matter how short the grip was. Having previously lived under the rule of dictators in California where the choices are not the same as in free America, some old-world Sigs were available and I liked them, e.g., multiple iterations of the 226 and 229, and the 238 was one of the few handguns my wife could manipulate. When I moved to a free America, the P320 was a gun I had wanted, so I got one. It's a good, not a great, gun. I've experienced no malfunctions after several thousand rounds, and I enjoy shooting it. That said, I don't reach for it that often any more. I've picked up quite a few other handguns that I prefer to shoot, many Walther and Canik in particular. I understand the bad karma, and the bitter taste the 320 has left for many. But the joy of a free America is - choice. Don't like the 320? - dump it, or don't buy in the first place. And that's okay. Find something you do like. And if not sure, watch Chris, and Mike at Mrgunsngear, or Chris Baker at Lucky Gunner, or any of the many solid guntubers, and they will give their opinions on what is good and what is not, and you can feel pretty confident when you make a choice that what you are getting is not a turkey. Also stop perpetuating FUDD LORE that 5.7x28 is the same as .22 magnum. This has been refuted by TONS of tests comparing .22 magnum and 5.7x28 through comparative barrel lengths and bullet weights. 5.7 is significantly more powerful and is center-fire and not less reliable rim-fire like .22 magnum.

@@guaporeturns9472 - Last one was about two years ago, first one was when they first came out. Will not try another one. My P250 is ten times the gun and never an issue.

I have loved your videos throughout the years, and this video is outstanding to me as well. Keep Up the Great Work. I was in Law Enforcement and carried the Sig P229, not the P226, and it was beautiful to fire and carry.

On the J-frame, there are definitely easier guns to shoot and to say it's "snappy" is an understatement. I own one by default (inheritance) and I personally love it and carry it all the time, but I still find it more challenging to shoot than anything else I have shot. Due to the short barrel length and heavy trigger, I consider it a "get off me" type gun. This is not something I would consider for a new shooter and especially if they wanted a carry gun. As you pointed out, there are other options that provide the same, or better, results in a similar size that are more manageable. I'm sad it mad the list but you aren't wrong. On another note, I considered getting a PCC until I heard Clint Smith comment on them. He said something along the lines, if you want a rifle, get a rifle. If you want a pistol get a pistol but pick one. That took me off the fence about getting one. While I don't dislike them, nor would I discourage anyone from getting one, I have decided it just isn't for me. I've shot the Kel-Tec and absolutely loved it but I've decided to go a different route.

The Glock didn’t lose the competition because it wasn’t modular. It made it to final downselect and would not have if it didn’t meet a core requirement. The backstrap option on the Glock made it modular just like you can take the FCU out of the grip module and put it in a smaller or larger grip. That’s what the requirement for modularity meant.

Yeah this is a big misconception. It met all requirements the reason it wasnt chosen was because of cost.

Gonna throw some extra love to the Sub2k by recognizing there is a variant that allows use of many different magazines including M&P, 320, 226, TP9, CZ75, Beretta 92. They can be found for around $250-300.

P320 X5 Legion. I really do like it M18 is not as good but I do like the thumb safety for carry with one in the tube.
